He was very personable and professional, plus booking an appointment through their website was incredibly easy. We were pleasantly surprised that they were even available the very next afternoon on a Sunday! They sent two electricians to work on our project (replacing a dining room light fixture, replacing a living room ceiling fan, and splitting a switch so a bedroom fan and light could be operated separately). The two electricians were very friendly and professional, plus they worked really well together to complete our projects. An added benefit, they stayed true to their original estimate, even though the work took longer than they originally thought. I HIGHLY recommend Guidry's Electrical to everyone and will definitely use them again if needed - they're great!!!

I had called a half hour before appointment to confirm timing, and they said they would be on time. They were not. Second, they just tried to scam me into paying for services that were completely unnecessary. I had recently installed two light fixtures and a switch, and I was explaining that I blew out a fuse because I assumed I had mis-wired the switch. They told me that I needed to replace my whole breaker box, that it was too old and couldn't be repaired. They left after not fixing anything, didn't even look at the wiring on my switch. After the electrician left with his mis-diagnosis I called the manager to complain and say I just needed my switch fixed. Of course he said no I needed to spend 2k+ to rewire and replace the fuse box. The next day I hired another electrician. He replaced the fuse in the breaker box and identified the bad wiring I did, fixed it in like 20 minutes. This company in my opinion is just looking to over charge people who don't know much about electrical work. I have some basic knowledge of the field so they weren't able to scam me, but I'm sure they do it to other people.

He did more than he scoped, met his proposed schedule and met the budget even though he did some more than originally planned. Great guy that I'd recommend and will use again in the future!

To be clear, my review is based on my interactions, bidding process and scheduling with Family…read morefirst. Here is the whole story: I originally installed solar 9 years ago and recently my solar panels hadn't produced as much as they used to. I requested several quotes and had 3 top contenders. Family first rang me up and I immediately had a gut feeling that they were the ones for the job. I bought an Enphase Envoy metered S and a Combiner Box 4 that I purchased directly from Enphase. What does this mean? Basically, I lost the ability to monitor my solar panels and needed to see if they are producing what they should and feeding back into the grid. My last SDGE electric bill was $590 which was totally ridiculous since I have over 20 solar panels on my roof. Anyways, back to family first, I spoke with Anthony and he was very receptive, called me back to answer my questions, told me what to purchase from Enphase. So , gave him my verbal agreement, he asked for several photos and videos, in which I sent. I spoke to him , had a clear plan of what the job will take, even had a group call with the actual service technician. Appointment made. I took the day off so that I can be on site and get educated and informed in case something was wrong with my panels. Less than 12 hours before they were supposed to show up (the night before), Anthony's technician called me. He said he needed to cancel because he will need a "whole crew" to do this job". I was livid. I explained to him that he made the appointment, was on the group call with me and Anthony, and that he knew what the job needed. I had taken a vacation day from work to be home for the job. But he proceeded to give me excuses how he did not know that the job needed a whole crew. I tried calling Anthony, and my call went straight to voicemail. He called me back and ended up dropping the call. Pretty bummed at the situation, my gut feeling was to cancel the job and hire someone else. I ended up hiring a local company (I posted a review about them). It only took 1 technician and 1 apprentice to do the job. It took them 3 hours to get the install completed. I am glad that I did not have "Family First Solar" do the job. I felt as if they were trying to upsell me on my repair. Instead I hired an actual electrical company who had been around for over 20 years. Bottom line, say what you mean, mean what you say. I don't like to flake on people. If you've made an appointment, keep it. I've learned so much during this process. I'm hoping that by sharing my experience, you can learn as well. In response to Anthony's comments: Yes I sent a video on Wednesday2/14/24 , 2 days prior to the appointment. However, I sent several photos and videos a week prior 2/8/24 via email to Anthony clarifying the project. And ....we had a phone conference call with David and Anthony on the phone detailing the project. Bottom line is: The communication breakdown was not from me, the customer. I did not add any new tasks to the job. I had been discussing the details a week prior. Anyways, the other company I hired did the job in half a day with 1 electrician and 1 apprentice. I guess we can sum up this review as a breakdown in communication and not the job itself. I'll add a star for Anthony's diligence. However, owning up to a mistake and showing extreme ownership is another trait that I would have fully respected.
