My little sister got married last night downtown and a group of 20 of us left the venue and headed straight to Disco. The line was wrapped around the block. I spoke with Omar at the door and explained the situation. Within 5 mins he gave us the best table on the third floor with bottle service and a light up message congratulating them. My friends and I stopped by Celeste on Hubbard street to celebrate St. Paddy's. The best part about Celeste is that it has 3 floors playing 3 different types of music. Hence different vibes on each floor. My favorite is top floor where it has open rooftop and the best music. They usually play trans music. The whole vibe is quite breezy and moody. The floor below that is also quite interesting. It has a pretty trippy dance floor where it'll transport you to 80's kind of music. The drinks are decently priced but not very strong. An old friend of mine was in town for the holidays last night. He brought his sisters with and the 4 of us tried to go to Celeste. I had never been. There was a short line, about 5 people. We got to the front of the line, asked the cover, and were told by some guy at the door (seemed to be the boss of the bouncer) that we wouldn't be allowed entry... BECAUSE WE ARE WHITE. We caused no problems and literally did nothing but wait in line. As I type this, this story doesn't even sound real. Very strenge situation. I wish I could give less than one star. The people working here are homophobic and cruel. We were here for my friend's bachelorette party, which included a group of girls and a few gay boys. The security people judged our outfits, called us homophobic slurs and tried to revoke our sense of humanity with their horrid words. Each floor has a different vibe. The level you enter on (2nd floor) has speakeasy vibes: dark, mahogany, there was a DJ playing techno/house the night I was there. The fourth floor is dynamic. A color-changing floor and disco ball ceiling for the disco music. It's almost like its own mini club. This is the most energetic piece and the reason people come here. We had a reservation for 6 PM but were running early, and arrived there at 5 PM when they were apparently opening. We were seated right away. We ended up splitting the tomato jam crostini, which was a little spicy but tasty, and we each got an order of the steak sliders. They were doing happy hour at the time and they had $8 drinks, too, which is a pretty good deal for Chicago. We basically only saw our waitress at the beginning and the end of the meal, there was another server who constantly refilled our water glasses, which was a plus, and also brought us our food; therefore, I hope they split tips. Ambience was nice and would've been great for a date night as well, as the lighting is low. One picky thing: I have stomach issues so a lot of the time I am in the bathroom for 10 minutes or more at a time, and they had a timer set up for the lights to go out after that. I absolutely hate when this happens because then I'm sitting there in the dark. So I'd recommend that they change the timer setting. When looking for a venue to get married and have a celebration between two families and friends- my partner and I knew we wanted a place that matched what we love - music, nature & elegance. Celeste delivered on all the things we wanted for an intimate wedding of just under 60 guests. Kassandra helped us through the whole process of planning, setting our contract and helping with day of details and putting things together in the space. It was a bit difficult to get a hold of the management group farther out from our event, but as the day got closer it was much easier- as they are very busy throughout the summer months and leading up to it. Kassandra communicated with our wedding coordinate Amber with Events with Ambiance to make sure all things were set up and successful for the day of with our DJ, florals and other little details. When we arrived the day of our wedding, I was in tears at how beautiful it all looked after months of planning. The staff were so nice and helpful throughout the night & the service was on time and fast. The drinks did not stop flowing! All of our guests were raving about our "signature drink" and how tasty the hors d'oeuvres were during cocktail hour! The food was absolutely incredible and very filling- we choose the salmon, steak, cauliflower steak and bowtie pasta option for our guests. At dinner time, it was so magical to have the fresh open air on the garden floor with the summertime buzz of the city in the background. By the time the dancing rolled around after dinner and speeches- everyone was so happy. We completely shocked our family and guests by heading down to the disco floor for first dance, mother son, and father daughter dances. We opened up the disco floor and had a great time with all of our loved ones together for over an hour. We could not have asked for a better venue and location to host such a special night. And the beautiful thing is, we can come back to Celeste whenever we want a bit of nostalgia for our wedding night. Thank you again so much Celeste and the staff/team for helping us put on an amazing night of fun & dancing for our closest friends and family. Me and my wife got married here late October. Overall this venue was GREAT. They really saved the wedding. We had a pretty terrible wedding coordinator so we're even that much more grateful that Celeste really had their stuff together. I mean just so professional and friendly, organized. The FOOD was SPECTACULAR. It's the best food I've ever had at a wedding (maybe I'm a little biased but STILL). The guests all confirmed with us as well how good the food was. The servers and bartenders, everyone on staff was on point. Another note I want to reemphasize is just how gracious they were to all our guests. I have some very...interesting...people grooms side (bride's side pretty standard normal people) and they were so gracious and courteous. One in particular has social disorders (think Sheldon from the Big Bang Theory) is not always recognized because it's not obvious so he's normally treated poorly by others because they see him as annoying or obnoxious. To the great credit of everyone at Celeste he told me (surprisingly) how kind and courteous and accommodating they were to him. That to me is just next level service. I know how difficult he can be and how hard it is for others around him so it means that much more to me how much kindness everyone at Celeste showed to all my guests even the difficult ones. Also they were really fun about everything too. So they really took a stressful event with all these moving pieces and just made it feel special, fun, and relaxing. My phone was stolen Saturday which is apparently a common occurrence here. I'm visiting so having my phone stolen was not on the agenda. However, after reading hundreds of google reviews I see this is popular. I was in the place all of 20 minutes and my phone was stolen (out of my closed and locked pocket) and turned off immediately. So it was gone. Immediately told security and was given a number to call. They never answer. They don't call back and they send you right to voicemail. The perfect place for a pandemic wedding (with less than 25 people)! The venue was charming and elegant with lots of candles and plants. It was an afternoon affair. The ceremony and lunch took place upstairs, with the gorgeous glass ceiling partly opened to allow for fresh air. The acoustics were great. There was a cocktail hour on the first floor - everyone was very spaced out. The bartender was wonderful, very professional. The food was not amazing but probably just as good as most weddings. The portions were notably small. The servers seemed nervous and not very friendly but still did a good job. Everyone had a lovely time. I wish they had done just a few things differently, like pump sanitizer into every guests hands as they came in, and place more sanitizer stations throughout (especially upstairs and around the bar). Temperature checks have become commonplace at restaurants and I was surprised and disappointed that they did not do them here. It would have been nice if they had passed out alcohol wipes before the food or made them available at every table. Additionally, I would have thought plated instead of passed appetizers would have been a safer choice, and ensuring fresh air was also coming into the first floor during the cocktail hour should have been indispensable. These additional precautions would have gone a long way to making everyone feel at ease. Hopefully, what they did was enough. It would also have been nice if there had been a designated waiting area for the bride prior to the procession and if there had been a clear path to the "altar" for the wedding party. People seemed generally confused about where to go, and where to stop. The setup was a little challenging, trying to space out the couches but leave enough room in the front. I'm not sure how often they host weddings. It's possible that some of these decisions were left to the bride. Overall, Celeste is a beautiful venue for a memorable occasion with a small guest list. Our business group of 70 guests had an amazing event with renting out all 3 floors. We played the UM football game in Deco, dancing in Disco, and dinner on the top floor in Garden. The food and drinks were amazing - especially the welcome cucumber cocktail in the disco cup, the beef tenderloin, lamb chops, and s'mores fountain. The decor is incredible and looked beautiful that night. The DJ was fantastic, and got everyone on the dance floor - even my husband who never dances. Went on Friday night, and got a table for a birthday party. The put us in the disco room. First impression; there was a host escort, our table had decent space, and had a decent set up upon arriving (pitchers: cranberry juice, orange juice, sprite, and ice). However by the end of the night our group was done with the place. Charged 585 for the table. Asked 3 different servers or our bottle girls if we could have water. It was hot. 1 lady said they only served bottled water not pitchers to tables. Sure what the hell let's get those bottles. NEVER.... Got any water. It wasn't until a man at our section, much later in the night asked for water that we finally got a small pitcher for 6 people. I had to walk to the bar to be served water. There was a man who hit someone in the face at a table next to ours. He was escorted out immediately. But somehow he got back in, had to find security and let him know that he was back in. Scary and safety obviously was not a priority. DJ sucked. Played the first 3 minutes of every song he played. No one was really vibing to it. Only played drake, and very male oriented music. Crazy when most of the audience was women and the women are putting good music out. He even at one point took a break. Y'all he was in a chair falling asleep. Was it worth $585. Absolutely not. Terrible experience. My bf and I got tickets for Halloween night to go Rituals. They made us wait over 20 minutes in line but the bouncers were letting in bottle rats ahead of us. So when we finally got in, the place was barely decorated for Halloween. We also found out from two different groups of friends that they booked a table prior but because either Celeste or Rituals double booked, neither got a table. I honestly would've rather have stayed home and handed out a dollar to every trick-or-treater than waste the money we spent on tickets. I used to be in hospitality for over ten years and River North has definitely gone downhill. This is why people hardly go out anymore. Really fun place for a night out! The 4 different floors is a really fun concept and the staff was awesome and really went above and beyond to make our time there enjoyable. We came a little early and started with drinks on the second floor which is an upscale sit-down cocktail bar vibe. Our waitress was SO sweet and attentive and the drinks were great. Then we moved up to the 3rd and 4th floors, which were more DJ/dancing vibe. The dance floor on the 3rd floor is awesome, and the DJ and atmosphere on the more upscale 4th floor were great. The manager, Nico, was a fantastic host and made us feel so welcome. The different atmospheres of the different floors made it feel like we went to three different locations without having to travel between them and pay multiple covers. And the best part is their kitchen is open until 1ish, so you can order a fried chicken sandwich and fries downstairs after a night of dancing and drinking. What could be better!
