I came here with a bunch of people to celebrate New Years, and like every Chicago bar shindig on New Years Eve, it wasn't a cheap ticket at around $100. I was pretty excited for this, mostly because they advertised themselves as "The sexiest bar in Chicago." The place was pretty crowded when we got there, which makes sense for a sold-out NYE event. I mostly hung out on the first floor, and there wasn't a crazy dance floor or anything, but it was definitely a fun atmosphere to hang out with people. Oh and I would say it was pretty sexy. The ticket included a wristband that gave us unlimited drinks from the bar (which is a losing game for an ultra-lightweight like me, but oh well). I'm taking one star off for their food, though. There were servers walking around with platters of food, including small desserts, tomato/cheese on skewers, mini tacos, etc. The tacos were really dry... And the food platters didn't come out that often, so the competition for food was really steep. But other than that, I had a lot of fun celebrating New Years at Celeste, and I would be interested to come back to see what it's like on a regular night! read more

As we were exploring the livelihood of Chicago night life we bumped in to Celeste and decided to give it a shot and go inside. We waited in line for 45minutes in the cold and windy weather but as we approached to be the next to get inside the security didn't let us in! He said my friends shoes are gym shoes and that's why we can't get in. But the main reason was because we are Persian!!!! GROPEY BOUNCER... This is a fun club. Good music. Lots of levels with different vibes. So I'll start by saying that. It's a good time! The reason I docked stars is because last time I went in September 2021, there was a misogynistic bouncer who made me feel super unsafe. When my friend and I left the bar around 3am, he grabbed my friend's ass. I called him out and said, "did you just grab her ass??" He laughed and said yes. I made a bit of a scene because I was pissed, and he was just laughing about it with his friends / the other bouncer. He said, "oh you're a feisty one." Super gross all around. Celeste offers a different concept on each floor. Online reservations get you a table in the cozy cocktail bar on the second floor. A fifteen page cocktail list offers something for everyone. My server was really into it, and actually created a cocktail to my taste from some new liqueurs they'd just received. There is also a limited but well-thought-out wine list. The menu is brief, but excellent, with a number of small plates and a few entrees. The octopus is a specialty, and was tender and flavorful, set off by bits of citrus and served on a creamy puree, topped with cilantro. It was delicious. But my favorite was the smoked trout salad. The sour citrus wedges combined with the smoky trout and light dressing on the greens to something that was much more than the sum of its parts. Food service was lightning fast, and the four bartenders did a good job of keeping up with the bustle. The low ceiling keeps noise to a reasonable level. Celeste is definitely one of the better cocktail and dining experiences on Hubbard. read more

I've been here several times for different occasions and yesterday I was here as part of my birthday celebration. The staff is so nice! I have eaten here before and the food is decent bar food but they are known for the rooftop area and their drinks. A great area to come with a group of friends and chill and talk. You enter through the Celeste building, then the top floor will be Disco. Coat check is downstairs on the bottom floor (most people seemed to forget or not know). There's two other bars walking up the floors with a more calm, cocktail lounge feel, then the top floor is met with the disco floor and music. Honestly I'm 21 and expected a younger crowd for Disco going slightly viral. There were mostly older millennials who weren't vibing enough to actually dance. So much fun ! I did not expect to have such a good time here but I definitely did. The music was great. Earth,wind, and fire, Janet Jackson, Michael Jackson, and Madonna to name a few. Entry Process: I was given a link to rsvp to the club so my name could be on the guest list. I arrived around 11 30 and had no problem getting in. They checked my name and I received a stamp. I was instructed to do coatcheck before entering the club. Coatcheck was 5 dollars per item!!! So leave your heavy scarf or sweater at home. Three of us ordered the poke bowl - the description sounded light and would be delicious... but it wasn't anything special and for $20 (with tax and tip)... it definitely wasn't worth it esp for the portion and what it was. All three of us also had to use the bathroom afterwards... It def didn't agree with my belly... My other friend got a an iceburg salad, and it was literally a wedge with huge chunks of blue cheese. Would give 0 stars if I could! Place was cool but two of my friends phones got stolen from their purses while dancing, bartender told me there was another person, so 3 total phones stolen just that night! Tried getting security to help and at least check cameras, the manager told us they had no cameras except the ones in the stairways. That was a total lie, you can see they have cameras all around. We searched the whole place and would go to the stair area to try to talk because it was quieter but they kept kicking us out (understandable, it is a safety risk) but when we moved to the elevator area they tried calling security to kick us out and I tried bringing up again that my friends got their phone taken and they completely blew me off saying "it's not our problem" " nothing we can do about it" and "we can only do something if you know who took it" . I just saw other comments saying the same thing so clearly it's not something new and they suspect that the staff is in on it, seeing how we were treated I wouldn't be surprised. If you go don't bring your phone or keep it really well hidden. Came back to add more! Just found out we had to pay for water!!!! We just had our wedding reception in the rooftop garden at Celeste and the venue as well as the team, exceeded our expectations and created the perfect event for us! Cassie H. - Guided my partner & I every step of the way during the planning, set up and execution of the event. Her patience with our 1 million questions, easy going personality and positive attitude was so fun and helpful. Kassandra E. - Her and her staff did an incredible job executing perfectly. The lead staff member for the evening was so kind, patient and extremely helpful in making things happen. The bartender, the food runners, the downstairs concierge, the event staff that picked up after, the sound person - amazing amazing job!!! We received so many compliments throughout the night about how awesome the staff was doing AND how helpful they were to the 3 or so guests that got caught in the rain - providing them towels & redirecting fans! Cedric - Helped saved a corner space for us on the first floor and helped herd our crazy group in the right place. His patience and ease of transition was SO appreciated! Really bad experience! Unacceptable charges of $300! My girlfriends and I reserved a table at Celeste three days before our event.but day and a half after the reservation two were Covid positive. We all needed to quarantine for few days, because we all work together on daily basics, so I attests to reach out to the placed cancel the reservation, but after leaving a voicemail I and no call back I received a text (one day before the event) and answered that I will not be able to come in so there was "thank you for letting us know" response with not even a word about the charge that got on my card immediately after. $300!!! I emailed Celeste explaining the situation and asking why I was not made aware of the this charge during the cancelation process , but I received very vague email from the manager Samantha Policicchio who told me that their policy is charging the party this late fee for canceling TWO DAYS BEFORE ,not even making an attempt to understand the situation or the fact that the confirmation text was send ONE DAY BEFORE the date. I went to Celeste with some of friends last Friday night. We were on the dance floor with the disco ball. I had bought some drinks for my friends and myself. I saw on my receipt, I was overcharged. I was charged twice for one of my drinks. I went back to the bar to inform the bartender and resolve the discrepancy. The bartender was dismissive. He did not take me seriously. I was not intoxicated. I had asked to speak with a manager to resolve the issue. The bartender then threatened to say I was yelling and he would have me kicked out and I wouldn't get my refund. He then called a bouncer to remove me. It's one thing to make a mistake. We are all human beings and we all make mistakes, however, it's another for a bartender to dispute an overcharge for a drink I did not purchase and then try to threaten and intimidate me by trying to get me kicked out of Celeste. I was able to get the manager involved and the issue finally resolved, but I would not recommend this place to anyone. No bartender should threaten or intimate their customers to have them kicked for an overcharge on their part. If you decide to go to Celeste, definitely check your receipt to make sure you are charged correctly. Unfortunately some Celeste bartenders believe in overcharging people because they think you are too intoxicated to notice then if you do notice, they try to get you kicked out. read more

My husband and I decided that Celeste would be the perfect wedding venue...and it was! We had extraordinary service from booking, to details leading up to the event, to day of service. The day ran so smoothly and perfect. We had our ceremony on the 4th floor enclosed garden followed by our seated lunch on the 2nd floor, Deco (1920's ambiance). All the guests loved the space and said the food was incredible. They accommodated our dietary restrictions and allergies. Not to mention the pastry chef made us a vegan wedding cake that was to die for! We would highly recommend this venue and can't wait to go back again soon! read more

Ugh I never go out in River North and for good reason. I came here for a friend's 30th birthday last month and it was a mess. The server seemed to be slightly drunk (she took a shot with my bday friend), even though she was sweet. She said she couldn't split checks, even though we were at several different tables, which seemed weird. We were basically two separate parties, so why each table couldn't be it's own check, I don't understand. We weren't even that large of a group -- we had two tables and six people at each. She ended up forgetting to put in three orders from my table, and the manager came over and took care of it an hour after everyone else got their food (I think he comped those meals and maybe more from the group, though I'm not sure how it played out since I didn't order food and left before they were done. After the no splitting checks thing, I just ordered my drinks directly from the bar). He did apologize for the server, though it was weird the way he did it (he said she was usually one of their best but had received some bad news earlier that day...it seemed oddly personal to be saying something like that to a large group of people). I do think it's fair that they comped the meals, at least, so I appreciate that. The food and drinks were okay, but like everything in River North, it's so overpriced. My drinks were mostly ice, not that big in the first place, and costs as much as I would spend on an entire fifth of gin. I won't be back unless someone twists my arm. read more

I was recently kicked out of Celeste Night club, for (according to the fat guy who kicked me out) taking pictures of ppl dancing. Cedric, General Manager called me the next day, and promised he would sort things out and give additional training to his staff. He noted there was no policy on taking pics at the club, in fact, they encourage pic and video taking. I do believe I was targeted because I am African American. The same guy that kicked me out had been staring at me all night. And, so was his staff. They surrounded me at the bar, and a fat male staff member told me to stop taking pics. I immediately complied, and he then stated "in fact you have to get out." Long story short, I was embarrassed and made to feel like a criminal for the first time in my life. Just to note; I'm a 61 y/o disabled veteran who did absolutely nothing but take pics and video of ppl dancing. When I asked to speak to a manager, the fat guy who kicked me out, lied, and stated "I am the manager." He and 3 other staff mbrs surrounded me and escorted me out of the club. This was my first time here and my last time. I've advised my friends, military personnel, fraternity brothers, and residents where I live to avoid this place at all cost. The only good thing about this incident was hearing from Cedric, General Manager on the following day. He promised he'd take care of and apologized what occurred the night before. He noted I was welcome back, and the night was on him. I pray that these thugs who surrounded me, made me feel highly embarrassed and escorted me out of this club have been fired from their positions. They obviously don't know how to deal with the public, and escalated a simple good time, into an unnecessary, full blown situation that got out of hand. Thank you Cedric, GM for making me feel a little better, but I won't be satisfied until those 4 clowns who made me experience one of the most embarrassing/worst situations in my life are no longer working there. I've been to Celeste numerous times. Each time my friends & I have had great time! Celeste is unlike any other in Chicago. It's completely unique. Each of the establishment's 4 floors offers a different vibe. Personally, Disco & the rooftop garden are my favorite! The light up dance floor at Disco let's me channel my inner Rosie Perez. Made a reservation a few weeks back but upon arrival was met with hostility by the bouncer. Asked to speak to a manager and was forced to wait outside for almost 30 minutes. When the manager finally showed up, he refused to provide us with decent customer service. We just took an hour long cab ride to get to this restaurant. As soon as we entered the greeter isn't friendly. They told us to go seat ourselves in the back booth snd then came moved us to two small tables. They shouldn't be taking dinner reservations, its a bar. We were expecting a restaurant. I was really looking forward to checking out Celeste for some time now. They were pretty booked for the weekend but there must have been some kind of cancellation since last minute I saw an opening for 8:45. My friend and I arrived and we were seated right away ( great start but thats as good as it got). After we were seated we waited about 10 minutes before anyone approached us. We ordered some cocktails ( something gin based with egg white- this was really good I had 2. and something with vodka and green tea- I wasnt a fan). On to the food. We should have placed our food order with our drinks because we ended up waiting quiet a while again. When the waitress came back around we ordered the salmon (seared salmon) that was good but I didn't love the pairings that came with it. We really wanted the octupus but they were sold out. We also got the soft shell crab sliders and the duck. The soft shell was over salted and I was not a fan at all. I really liked the duck (it was a bit fatty for my taste though). We decided to do one more round of drinks prior to heading out. There was a list of drinks on the back of the drink menu ( that came in larger sizes ) that looked great and we didnt notice earlier. We had to flag someone over to place in order and we were told that they dont have any of the ingredients so they cant make them. I'm sorry- WHAT? Over all just totally not impressed. The last two trips we've made to Chicago with friends have included a stop at Celeste- both pre pandemic and now as things open back up. Among this multi-story bar, the disco floor is a super fun one of a kind spot with light up floors that can't be overlooked. It's a bit of sensory overload though but super fun. The rooftop patio with an open roof picks up an amazing breeze and the plant walls and lighting make for a really nice ambience. Each floor, including the patio, have small footprints so get there early in the night if you want to get in! read more

My friend and I stopped by around 6 pm last night. I work in River North and I heard great things about their rooftop. We walk in and the guy at the front door (holding a tablet) already seemed to have attitude. I told him we wanted to have a few drinks at their top level Garden. The employee shaked his head and said we needed a reservation to get in the building. I told him their website says it's first come first serve seating. He then says "I repeat .. upstairs is exclusive and is reservation only". It doesn't make any sense to me that they list on the website that the Garden is first come first serve but then we got rejected at the door for not having a reservation. The lower level looked dead and in those few minutes I didn't see anyone else walk in. So I doubt that they were busy . Maybe we were not "exclusive" enough.
