Went in this morning to pick up some stuff. One person only serving. A number of people waiting. No one on the deli side at all. I asked the one person serving if there was someone on the deli. He went into the back. Then came out again. Didn't tell me if anyone was coming, waited for a while but no one showed up. Drove down to IGA and got what I needed there. I'm a 12+ year customer, buy all our bread at Cedarbrook, my wife had a heart operation she lives on Cedarbrook sandwiches & soups. I like dealing there BUT I do have a complaint High staff turnover! I went in this morning, one nice young man at the till side 3 customers including me at the deli side A clerk, talking on her cell-phone walked past us, we looked at each other & shook our heads. I walked out, as I left I said to the young man "No one else working today?" He was embarrassed. Other clerk still rattling away on her cell-phone. Mmmmmm a place filled with heavenly cheese, meat AND pastry.....come on now! Cedarbrook had a huge pastry case filled with beautiful treats. Everything from cupcakes to cookies and even fancy croissants!!! We tried a apple strudel the other day and it was gooooood. They even have a day old bin for items on discount!! Sweet!! Large selection of house made breads! Order a sandwich to go or enjoy in house or even have a pre made panini grilled up for you. Add a soup or cold pasta salad and a cookie!! I DO NOT recommend this bakery. Rather than making a themed cake for my sons 7th birthday, they made him a plain cake with no decorations at all. They said they messed up. They gave me no options except to take the plain cake home. I asked for the manager Tessa to call me back. She never bothered to call or make it better. Ive ordered cakes from other places, but i have never seen an establishment not care about making it right...especially because they let down a child on his birthday. How would you feel as a mom? I picked up a couple of delicious looking croissants, stuffed with whipped cream and drizzled in chocolate. These were the worst. The croissant was flabby and the cream in the middle was not anything close to a whipped cream or a custard cream. It was some unidentifiable oil product. I saw their posts on Facebook ( as recommended by a friend) The cakes and pastries look amazing. Decided to take the 20 min drive to Langley to try out a cake for an occassion. The bakery is rustic and all their pastries are neatly organzied. Got their at about 11am and they had cakes ready. I decided on the whitechocolate raspberry cake. The mocha one looked delicous but had almonds around it and we have a nut allergy in the family. I also grabbed 2 cannoli's to try. As far as the cake, I was disapointed. The raspberry compote seemed not fresh and not made in house. no whole raspberries. The cake part was mediocre. Not different from save on foods cake. The butter cream was alright... I would't be driving out to get a cake again. The cannoli was alright. I have had better. But I have to say the other baked goods like pasty, scones and individual cakes looked good...they have a wide selection of breads and buns too. read more

Have been coming to this bakery for over 20 years. Have very few complaints about the cakes and pastries. Somewhat pricey. We have bought bread here for a number of years and on several occasions have noticed that the bread doesn't rise properly, giving a heavy loaf that is only good for toasting. Have complained a few times. Staff doesn't seem to listen....they give no response. They're lucky that there is very little competition in the area. We buy the odd item, but not as much as we use to. read more

Got my sisters birthday cake custom made here, and thoroughly impressed. The cake was so moist - and buttercream not too sweet which is hard to find. The decorating exceeded my expectations for the price. Highly recommend! If you're stumped on cake filling, you have to try the raspberry!!! read more

WORST SANDWICH IN THE WORLD! Good service crap food, you couldn't pay me any amount of money to eat another one of your completely flavorless sandwiches again. I bought from you expecting it would be better than I can make at home... I was so wrong... This once great neighbourhood establishment has been on autopilot for the past 2 or 3 years. Good to average service still happens but usually the employees act as if you are a major inconvenience to them. Products are nothing special and nothing that can't be had at a big box grocery store. I have been going to this place since I was a kid, so about 20 years. I use to love going there with my mom and getting my free cookie, the ladies in there were always so friendly and cheery and helpful and their products were delicious and reasonably priced. It's great to see after all these years that their baked goods have not changed and are still delicious and still very well priced. However, the last few times I have been there the service has been shameful. I actually had one of the girls in there roll their eyes at me when she had asked me if I would like something else and I said "yes." The whole time I was in there with my family she kept giving us dirty looks, like we were a major inconvenience for her. The other girl in there, this most recent time, her question to the lady behind us was "what do you want?" Just down-right rude, rude, rude. I have taken my kids in there twice and both times had to ask them for their free cookie (so awkward) to which their response was "uh huh what kind?" accompanied by yet another eye-roll, this happened this most recent time. She also gave my son the wrong cookie, he noticed after he had taken a bite so I asked if he could have the right one to which I got the response "so you want to exchange it?" After I said "yes please" she actually took the cookie back, the cookie that he had bitten and handled with his 7 year-old boy hands, with her bare hands and threw it in the garbage and then proceeded to pack up more things out of the display case, without washing her hands, that's disgusting! This is so very disappointing as, like I said, have been going there for so long. Not sure if I will ever recommend this place to anybody again, as I have done this many, many times over the years. I got a cake there last week and was good, the one I got today was disappointing. I asked if was icing or custard in the middle and the girl said custard, so I got it. When we cut it there was very little custard it was mostly icing and was very upsetting read more

What a great disappointment this Black Forest Cake was! I spent some time researching as to where I could get true Black Forest Cake for my sister's Christmas Day birthday, as Black Forest is her favorite. After reading about this bakery on "Google" I decided to order one from Cedarbrook. It was horrible. You could not even cut it up properly as there was a layer of tiny shaved pale chocolate shavings two inches deep in the center top of this cake that spilled all over the place when you tried to cut pieces off. The cake batter tasted like a cake mix, no hint at all of kirsch anywhere in the cake. Okay they put maraschino cherries on the top. It was such a disappointment. I am sorry to write this but I think people should know. I also understand that the Bakery is under new ownership now. I shall never buy from this bakery again. I woud say it is my fault also, as I never checked to see the cake ahead of time. I might add for almost $50 this was certainly not work the price. read more
