Stopped by on a sunday early afternoon with my husband & 3 young kids (between ages 2-6) to escape the cold after visiting the christmas tree farm. We did not know it was an adult only brewery, but we did see the signs posted on their door. Despite the signs, we still came in & everyone was so welcoming to all of us. They even invited us to stay & eat from the BBQ truck inside the brewery. Lots of other families with young children too. Perhaps we came on a family day? They had the fire going & we sat to enjoy our BBQ right in front of it. Ordered a few beers which my husband raved about. I loved their hard ciders. Overall, we will definitely be back & be mindful of the adult only rule. I'm usually weary of places that do not allow kids, but we were treated with such kindness & appreciate their transparency they have posted on their website & social media. read more

The ride over wasn't far from the Lavender farm... you can miss the turn in but there is a half driveway you can turn around at. The location has beautiful views. Lots of outdoor seating. Inside has lots of seating also. Bathroom was clean. Friend got a flight of beer and she liked her selections. I got the strawberry pear cider. Which was light and refreshing. What a great idea to open a brewery/winery right next door to a Tree farm!!! Of course- this fact was a huge reason our family found ourselves here this year. We quickly tied up the tree to the roof and headed on over. We had our two pups so outdoor seating it was! There is plenty outdoor seating overlooking the tree fields with some fire pits and smaller tables. Upon walking up to the building, there was a smoking BBQ food truck! My bf enjoyed some ribs while I went into the tap room to explore the options. The tap room is fairly large, plenty of seating and decorated for the season :) their selection of meads, wines, and brews were impressive!! The service and quick and the small line to order moved quickly too. The lady behind the counter knew the options very well and was able to advise me on my taste :) I opted for a sour ale (what in tarnation cherry) and my bf opted for a citrus ipa. My sour ale was delicious and very tart- just like i like it! This spot is a little tucked away but I did notice people visiting without trees or large families so I'm sure it draws in customers regardless of the location. Absolutely worth the visit. Nice little watering hole. I visited on a slow Saturday afternoon before things had the chance to get busy so I had a lot of attention. I did 5 samples (a flight of 4 plus an extra). I didn't find any one I loved but except for the stout I thought there were ok-to-good. My favorite was the schwarzbier, which ironically is a style I normally don't care for. Quite the irony; I didn't like what is my favorite type of beer but liked one that isn't usually my style. I should have asked about food options but forgot to, although I did spy a popcorn machine. They aren't exactly family friendly; they have family days but outside of those days you are only allowed to bring infants and young adults, but no kids in between the ages of 2(?)-14. I've never seen a rule like this. I don't mind, but I can see why it's confusing. read more

Stopped in one evening, it's an interesting place in the woods, off of Hazelwood Dr in Nokesville. Looks like an old farm, as you drive on a long driveway, passing open sheds/barns to get to the brewery's tasting room. It's nothing really impressive looking, but adequate. They serve their own drinks and items from other places too. They have beer, cider, ale, and wine. Seems that on some night they have a food truck too. I tried a couple of their offerings and they were just OK. The staff seemed friendly. read more

Everything was very normal for a normal tree cutting and beer with a giant exception: 1 noway spruce 5'0": $160 No special trimming of the tree, no loading it for you, just normal used saws and a flatbed making pickup rounds. Amazon will let you pick out a tree, show you the pictures, bring it to your house for $80. Will not be able to afford to bring our 2 children, much less have any desire to grossly overpay for a very normal experience. read more

We stopped in to visit Cedar Run Brewery last weekend - our first visit back since opening day. Since the limitation of opening weekend - of not being able to procure individual tasters - they have remedied this problem. So now if the number of brews available is not in a multiple of 4 (the number of glasses their taster trays hold) - you can order the remaining beers - without having to purchase an entire additional tasting flight! Good on them for quickly addressing this! Since last time - they've introduced a couple of new brews: Bathing in the Rain New England IPA (6.5% ABV) (4.25 stars on Untappd) Brickman Mild Ale (4.7% ABV) (1.75 stars on Untappd) I feel like the brewmaster at Cedar Run really understands the complexity and nuance of IPA's - so far - from my palate's perspective - he has knocked it out of the park on very IPA they've brewed. The Brickman Mild Ale was not my kind of beer. I'm sure it will appeal to many though. I rounded out my tasting flight - revisiting the Lil' Chungus IPA and Evergreen Acres IPA - both really nice, tasty flavorful, hoppy IPAs! Totally awesome experience. They are a Harvest Host and we just spend 3 days there. Owner is very personable as is the ladies behind the bar. Every beer was delicious. July 2020 - COVID Review: My husband and I wanted to try out a new brewery in the area while also being able to socially distance. We called ahead and were told there was ample outdoor seating available so we made our way there. The roads leading up to the brewery are a bit more secluded so the entrance can be a little easy to miss. There's plenty of parking. We ordered inside, which had clearly marked floors on which direction to go. They gave us a laminated index card so that we could "hold" our table so that the staff know to not pre-maturely sanitize our table if we got up. There's a covered outdoor patio and lots of outdoor seating options on the grass as well. The day we went was a Friday afternoon and there was live music playing. read more

Came out here for Taste of the Mountain (superb, as usual). As to the brewery - a mix of locals, maybe 70/30) and live music tonight (12/30/22). Lively Friday night. Libations? I had the Axe Stout, very, very good. Reminded me of England. Wife and daughter had two different ciders, one mixed with a wine. Both on the sweet side, I liked the blended on better. Such an awesome find and got to drink with the owner . Such a fun and welcoming group of folks. I was driving the back road between Manassas and Stafford and saw a sign for Brewery! My car just turned itself amd followed the road . Out in a pasture behind a farm house I found the most amazing brewery ran by Jim Gehlsen. They have 10-15 brews in tap and a dozen wines and ciders. Nice Place Someone invited us to this place. I'm a beer lover, and about ten years ago started my interest in craft beers. I loved to try new things. I was the first one in the pool, but I got tired of it, and I had been on a sort of craft beer hiatus. But someone invited us to this place. It's way out. To get there you go down a winding road passing old country houses and farms. Then you turn down a gravel road and at the end you pull up and see this unassuming structure. Inside is very spacious with many tables, a big long bar and a covered outdoor patio that must be awesome during the warm weather. When I was there, they had a guy with an acoustic guitar playing American classic rock selections and folk selections; good background music. Working behind the bar were three attractive, friendly ladies. They were busy because they were serving a lot of customers but not too busy to flash a smile. The place was very clean. The Beer: the beer is little different from the many other craft breweries in the Commonwealth. They have lagers, lights, IPAs, stout and everything else that's trending all with clever names. In other words, the beer is pretty good, but it didn't really knock my socks off and probably isn't going to get me to come all the way out here read more

I think we are getting closer to the 1 year anniversary of Cedar Run and I must say I have been quite impressed over the past year. 1. Amazing staff and ownership. Very friendly, attentive, and accommodating. 2. Creativity and selection of beers. They have beers for every taste and also make great seasonal selections. Personal favorites for me include the Stumpkin (Fall combo), the Tropical Saison, Bathing in the Rain and the Pineapple Guava Gose. 3. Atmosphere is great. A lot of room to sit both inside and out. Right now kids are not allowed due to Covid 19, however before all that, we always brought our three kids. I hope that Cedar Run continues to make amazing beer and continue to represent Nokesville as their oldest brewery. read more

This was our second year selecting a Christmas tree from Evergreen Acres and visiting Cedar Run Brewery. Imagine our pleasant surprise last year (2021) to find a Cidery and Christmas tree farm in one -- an immediate new family tradition was born! Unfortunately, this year (2022) when my wife took our little girls to the ladies room during our visit on a Saturday afternoon, our hopes for establishing this new tradition were utterly destroyed. On the wall and in plain sight of our minor children in the women's bathroom, were advertisements for a drag show. While I understand that Cedar Run only allows those under the age of 18 on the premises for specific dates/functions, one would think, as this was one of those dates, they would have sanitized for young children. Such an oversight means we will be looking for a new tree farm for next Christmas and there will be no further recommendations to our family and friends regarding Evergreen Acres and Cedar Run Brewery. read more

Came here twice. Had a great time the first time (Mother's Day weekend) and got to sample a few beers. Wanted to come back again. We selected a table far away from everyone else since it did not seem any precautions were required anymore. We were promptly told that we needed to leave because they do not allow families unless it's a family weekend, and that we should have checked Facebook for that information. Our toddler was well behaved, dancing to the music and not bothering anyone while we spent 45 dollars on beer tastings and food. It's a shame that they are not accommodating for families other than one day per month. We will go to the other brewery down the street at this point. Can't make any beer recommendations since we weren't able to continue our tasting. read more

Beer and venue are ok. I brought my friend here during a visit from out of town. The site accessible from the apple map app clearly says kid friendly. We were refused service, even outdoors, because our children are under 21. A long drive for nothing. read more

Excellent beer. We tried them all. Really enjoyed the barrel aged Coconut Stout, the porter, and, surprisingly, the Rose Cider. The latter was perfect for a hot and sultry afternoon. We went for the opening day on Saturday, and it was great! The IPA's were excellent, I tried 2 different varieties, and my wife and I shared a flight of some of the other beers. They have a large covered patio and a large indoor bar and seating area with a big stone fireplace. Relaxed and comfortable atmosphere, we could easily spend any afternoon sitting on that patio and enjoying the view of the surrounding farm (and the complementary popcorn- which was also very good!). Oh yeah, there were board games, horse shoes, corn hole, and even BBQ food truck there on the day we were there. Plus a huge parking area, which was fortunately not completely full when we arrived. Not kid friendly. Restrictions not clear on website. My husband has been wanting to try this brewery for a while now, so yesterday it was his birthday and we decided to try it out. My husband and I walked in and I was carrying our 2 year old. The young lady at the bar was very nice and informed us on how the flights worked and what not. I asked if they offered industry discounts, which she said she didn't think so but wanted to double check with another employee. When she came back to us she told my husband and I that we weren't allowed to be there with our son. We were confused as to where we weren't allowed to be- at the bar, inside? And she told us at the whole facility grounds itself, not even outside. Meanwhile there was another family sitting inside with children that were "friends/ family " of the owners. My husband and I were both confused and upset but didn't make a fuss because it wasn't the employee's fault that their restrictions are ridiculous. After walking out, I looked on their website and it states only infants and children 15+ years are allowed. They have specific days where I suppose all children are allowed but those days weren't specified at all on the website. I've never been to a brewery that wasn't kid-friendly. I can even understand prohibiting children past a certain hour, but this was on a Saturday around 2 in the afternoon. Just to note- my child was quiet and content watching YouTube during our 5 minutes at the brewery. read more

I ventured out here during COVID as part of a quest to buy a keg from a local brewery, especially to help one of the smaller ones. This is in a great location on an actual farm. I can't wait to come back after COVID to hang out in the patio oVerlooking the farm. The people here are super nice and helpful. The beer Is great too. My wife and I have visited Cedar Run a few times over the past couple of months and really like this place. Although it is not the closest brewery to our house, by far, it is our favorite. They have a great variety of beers and not just a bunch if IPAs, as that is today's trend. Although, if you like IPAs, they do have several to choose from and are very popular. The brewmaster does an excellent job accommodating most everyone. Atmosphere is relaxed and comfortable, there is plenty of space for large groups, family friendly (with plenty of on-site games), staff is awesome and attentive and the guest bands have been great. Make sure you try the pretzels! My only complaint is that I don't live closer. But that might be a good thing. Hope to see you there! read more

We asked why and she said she just doesn't allow them, even though other children were there last weekend and while we were there this visit. She was so rude we will never go back. I have been to Cedar Run brewery no less than 12 times and always had a fantastic experience but today really ruined it. I was there with friends from out of state and their hours state they close at 7pm so when I went to order a beer at 6:40 pm I was very surprised to be told they'd already closed their taps - weird but not worth this one star review right? Well 10 minutes later the table next to us gets 3 fresh beers - okay...10 minutes later 7pm on the dot the owner storms onto the patio and yells to all the patrons left "WE'RE CLOSED" my party of 6 and another party of 2 immediately left (very confused) while I listened to her berate the other table of 4 about how "this is why I don't do this you guys aren't even close to done with your beers we have so much to do" I have never ever ever been to a brewery that expected their brewery to be empty by closing (isn't that a bad sign usually?) and I certainly have never been kicked out! We weren't even offered a last call!! I was very excited to have a place close to home that served beer, wine and cider but clearly I won't be returning here. read more

To address an earlier review, you can get all six beers in a flight w/o ordering a second full flight--just order the last two for $2.50 each (in line with price of the flight). Visited for the first time on Saturday evening with some friends and had a great time. The beers are top notch and I loved the Thicc Axe Stout they offered. I liked that they offer a few IPA's, but it doesn't dominate their beer menu. They had a band that was very good and made the evening even more enjoyable. I'm glad there are some other local breweries popping up in the area close to the Gainesville/Bristow area. It's a bit off the beaten path but well worth it. read more

We have been here numerous times, and made it our first stop on a brew hop we organized with about 15 friends! The outdoor patio and fire pits are a great place to relax and enjoy a cold one, or wander indoors for a great atmosphere and a fun place to hang! We just spent the day at this fabulous place. The indoor and outdoor space is so spacious and decorated so nicely. Since today is over 90degrees we sat inside and were so very comfortable.
