Safety first! I like that! I really hate worrying about the people around me and here I get some sense of security. The owner is a tough cookie, but he's had loonies come in and he can spot them. BEST RANGE IN TEXAS! I've been shooting here every weekend for the past 3 years. The Ferris family is amazing and treats everyone with respect, and kindness, even those new to the 2a. As far as the 1 Star comments go, they have zero tolerance for stupidity, as they should. This is a shooting range not a playground. They are responsible for ensuring the safety of their clients and they do. The store has most any caliber you can think of, and 9 times out of 10 will beat even the cheapest online price. They have an amazing layaway program, 6 months, anything down. If you're a responsible shooter or even a novice this is the best place to go. Kyle is extremely informative and will help you find just about anything you'll need. Melinda is always working hard to get you to where you want to shoot. They truly are amazing people, and are truly one of the few remaining genuine Mom and Pop businesses that I love to support. They will forever have my business and gratitude. read more

This is the only range I have ever visited where I feel truly safe to focus on honing my own firearm handling skills instead of worrying about the idiot in the next lane accidentally shooting someone. Go to almost any other shooting range and take really good look around you (and above you, below you) .... notice anything strange? There are bullet holes in absolutely everything and everywhere. Every one of these holes was caused by someone who is not mature or competent enough to handle firearms safely. I have seen reviews where people attempt to criticize Cedar Ridge Range because they ask a few basic safety questions prior to letting you out on the range. If you cannot answer these questions, they will turn you away. It isn't trick questions either, it is common sense stuff. They even give you a cheat sheet before hand for Christs sake. These are questions that anyone who understands safe firearms protocol should be able to answer instinctively without hesitation. If you can't answer these questions, go take an NRA Safety Course for your own safety. These are BASIC safety protocols. I sincerely appreciate that they value the safety of their patrons more than they value the profits that could be had by letting unsafe shooters use the facilities. Beyond that, I appreciate the (what I call) "professional gun culture" there. Many of the folks you'll meet at this facility are veterans, lifelong hunters, folks involved in Law Enforcement, firearms training instructors etc. I've never seen thugs there with their pants hanging down their ass, holding their gun sideways looking like they are figuring out how the gun works before they go commit a robbery. Beyond that, the range is located in a lovely scenic rural area. The amenities are very nice. You can pull your vehicle right up close to your private pavilion, and you are free to bring your own targets. I have been thoroughly impressed with the friendly knowledgeable staff, the fair prices, and basically everything about the place. read more

This is what a range should look and feel like. I don't live in the area any more but went here many times and now that I have to live without it, I realize how great it was. You drive to your assigned shooting area and it's outdoors and pleasant, without lame overhead beams or excessive structure. You're outside feeling the sunshine and breeze, not feeling like you're in a cave. It's spread out and spacious, out in the country. You've got the car backed up right to the shooting area so you aren't hauling all your stuff to where you shoot. You head down range yourself when you, a functioning adult deem it appropriate, and can set up targets. This is where self-respecting people go to shoot and relax, and hang out with friends and family and enjoy the experience. It's a model for what a shooting range ought to be. read more

Spent an hour in traffic to get to the site by 4.30 (as the website clearly started that the last check-in is at 4.30). Arrived at 4.28pm (Internet time) and they were already closing and told us that it was past 4.30 and to come back tomorrow. We showed them that it was 4.28 pm and mentioned that the website said 4.30 was last check in and were met with a shrug and turned away. Extremely irritating, especially since they are the most expensive range in the SA area. We want specifically because they are one of the very few open on Wednesdays (my only day off this week). Next time, I'll stick with tried and true Bracken Range and not waste my time, energy, and gas. read more

First time shooting at cedar ridge today. They take their range seriously. I got quized at the front desk. I like knowing that people are screened as they come in. They have nice separate smaller semi private ranges. Enjoyable. read more

Great shooting at the range today. Friendly and efficient check-in. Shooting was very private and relatively quiet with my own berm isolated target area. Good long bench with roof cover. I had a great time and stayed lots longer than planned. Price cannot be beat. read more

its an older facility, but its still a nice place to shoot, they are safe, strict, and protective of there customers well-being. I feel safe shooting there and even though its a drive away i would definitely go back! Great Job Guys! read more

This is in response to "j"oel f's claim that the good ratings must have been done by the proprietors. . the reason that this big baby thinks this is because that it is run foremost with safety in mind and that's why the posts show a similar sentiment. Once you get past the verbal test for first-timers (and it is no-nonsense, but adults should be able to handle it), you get to shoot in great lanes, with a lot of freedom. And then when you come back another day, tou don't have to test. No one bugs you after you show the owner that you aren't an idiot or have a bad attitude, like that shown in that foul guy's post. read more

Tried to take my son to get practice shooting his rifle and make sure it was sighted in. The lady told me I was "not able to step foot on the concrete pad or get near the firearm." I asked if I would be able to help my son adjust the scope if it needed it and she emphatically said NO. She said I would have to pay. I told her that is crazy and turned around and walked out. I understand it is a business and they need to make money but we are talking about me helping my son with scope adjustments, not me shooting the gun. read more

I have been to shooting ranges in MANY difference cities and this is the only one I will not return to. The guy who runs the place is very rude and condescending. I have put up with this in the past as the range itself is pretty decent. But this last visit sealed the deal with me. I will never return to this range and have, and will continue to, communicate my displeasure to my friends and family. Here's the story from my last visit: While checking in, the manager (owner?) was condescending from the start. I had only uttered the word "hello" prior to this starting, but I had been here before and knew that this would probably be the way my friends and I would be treated, so I didn't worry too much about it. I simply took his belittling and hoped it would be over soon so we could begin to enjoy our day at the range. After punching our information into their computer he makes some snide comment and says that I have been banned for life! I asked him why. He said that I had shot the legs off two of their targets, cussed their worker out, and then stormed off. I ASSURE YOU, THIS NEVER HAPPENED. The only time I have spoken to any of their employees on the range, it was to say "thank you" when they delivered targets to my bay. Also, while I will never call myself a marksman, I don't believe I have ever shot the leg of a target stand (and I have been shooting since about 4 years old). I told him that there must be some mistake; that this had never happened with me. He began to insult my intelligence and asked me how many people with my name I know. At this point, I decided it was no longer interested in being insulted and treated so poorly while trying to spend my money and that it was no longer necessary to try to clear my name with this guy, so I left (for the last time). read more

Great for a small civilian shooting range. The owners are serious about safety, and will let you shoot in more realistic ways as long as you adhere to the safety practices. Highly recommend this range for anyone that just needs to practice fundamentals. read more

This place is a decent range, facility wise, AND if you can stomach the condescending attitude of the owner. Before you can shoot, a "safety" test is given. Good luck getting the answers correct, as the answers must match the owner's wording exactly. I also witnessed him being especially rude towards a Spanish speaker, making him repeatedly say, "cease fire" because he "has always had trouble with people who speak Spanish saying this." After our last combatant encounter with the owner, we will not be going back. We will give our money to range that welcomes us as customers. read more
