Campsite (3/5): These are a bit stacked on top of each other but our group had two next to each other so it didn't impact us too much. Ambiance (4/5): These campsites are right on the water which is absolutely stunning! You really feel like you're in nature, but there is a major road near the top campsites and even by the water you can hear road noise. There was a huge group at the top which partied into the night though we're up late anyhow and it was no issue for us. Consider earplugs if you're not like us. Bathrooms (4/5): These were relatively clean for a campground bathroom. Minus a star here because on the last day the women's room was out of order -- but I believe it was due to another guest, as a member of our party heard someone say "oh no it's not flushing!" TL;DR: Great for those late-into-the-night campers. If you stay here make sure you get a waterfront spot.

This is my second time doing a float trip with Kittatinny Canoes, but my first time from this base…read morecamp and I would never do it again. The employees working there were not helpful at all. After we were dropped off at the launch point, one employee gave a quick safety speech and then disappeared. No one helped us tie our tubes together or navigate the steep drop-off with our tubes to get into the water, which was extremely slippery and rocky. We were told the float would take 2-2.5 hours. This was wildly inaccurate. It took us an hour to float from the drop-off point back to camp. When we previously did the trip from Barryville, the float was much longer. For what we paid, this was a complete waste of money. Then, when we reached the ending point around 4 p.m., we were harassed by three teenage employees who were yelling at us and demanding that we bring up our tubes immediately. There was no one else going out with those tubes at that time, and we simply wanted to sit and relax for a few minutes since the float had been so short. The employees were unnecessarily rude and nasty about it. I feel bad for the people who paid to camp out on this site. It was pathetically small and claustrophobic. Do yourself a favor and book a float trip with another company. After this experience, I would not return to or recommend Kittatinny Canoes at either base camp. EDIT/UPDATE: After the owner's response, I wanted to provide some additional context because I don't feel her response accurately reflects what we experienced. First, regarding the float time: the website states that the trip is 2-3 hours, not 2-2.5 hours. I understand that river conditions can affect the timing, but the conditions on Saturday were considered normal summer levels, with no flood warnings or high water advisories. Our float was significantly shorter than the advertised timeframe. We were also surprised by how close the drop-off point was. The bus barely drove us up the road before letting us out, and the location itself seemed like an odd place to start the trip, being let out in what appeared to be a vacant grassy field directly next to the Riverside on the Delaware townhomes, not even 3 full miles away. I feel bad for the people who live there. It did not feel like we were out in nature, enjoying lush vegetation. I could literally hear landscaping equipment buzzing along the float. As far as the landing area, we did not see anyone trying to get out of the water with kayaks while we were there, nor did the teenage employees tell us that kayakers were waiting to come through. They were not helping people navigate the landing area; they were primarily standing around and yelling at guests to bring their tubes over to the trailer. If they had politely explained that we were blocking kayakers or asked us to move for that reason, that would have been completely understandable. That is not how the situation was handled. Our issue was not being asked to move. It was the attitude and lack of helpfulness from the staff from the moment we arrived. We would have been happy to cooperate if the situation had simply been explained to us. Unfortunately, that was not our experience, and the owner's response does not change what we personally witnessed during our trip

Happy Days Campground is a great Rustic Campground with tenting campsites as well as full hookups…read morefor RVs and campers at very reasonable rates ... The best thing, Happy Days is only 4 miles from one of the greatest attractions in New York ....Bethel Woods, the 69' Woodstock Concert Field and the historic Woodstock Museum (which is a must see... you'll thank me later). The campgrounds are covered in pine trees, so you awake to great, fresh smelling air. It's very clean. The showers, bathrooms and rec room were immaculate. I drove my RV here, but on the premises, you can rent well restored, classical 3-wheel campers for a minimal fee and spend the night in camping luxury (and instead of my gas guzzling RV, I'll bring my car next time, instead and still save).... Tim, one of the owners, is great. From his story, he had no intention of running a campsite. He was in corporate management. He came to Happy Days as a kid. When the woman who owned the site told him, he'd have to find another place to camp next year ... the wheels went into motion. This campsite is Tim and his brother's baby and the care and the high standards they have also shows in their appreciation of their customers ... and I'm sure that comes from having originally been a customer of the campsite. Make sure you make reservations in advance, especially when Bethel Woods has a concert planned for the weekend. I was going to stay an extra day but I waited too long. The owners are nice and accommodating. I called to make a reservation and was able to do so. It was $35.00 a night. The price includes your campsite, fire pit, access to kayaks, showers, and bathroom. To be clear, we picked a site where you can set up a tent and not an RV. But RV sites are also available. Check in was a breeze and was brought to our site once we checked in. Wood is sold on the site. Its a dollar per log. We did see a bear by the garbage and immediately called the owners to let them know. They did come and close the garbage bins and made a lot of noise to lure the bear away. Make sure after you eat you put all food and drinks in your car and leave nothing out once you head to bed. This will attract bears if you leave stuff out over night.

This was my 2nd stay at Dingmans. We really liked it the last time and were excited to come back…read more First, they have an excellent camp store, entrance area, beautiful well spaced sites, river access and great services, like wood delivery. All those parts are fantastic. There were a few cons. First, there is zero cell service at the park. While I know it's not the camps fault, it makes communication very difficult. The store/check-in area has Wi-Fi, which causes people to congregate there and clutters up parking, etc. A few nicely placed Wi-Fi zones would really help. There are not enough bathrooms overall. The folks in the no amenity areas need a functioning bathroom. The Porta pot is disgustingly, so they walk to one of two bathrooms. There are 3 toilets and 2 shower stalls, per gender. This is not enough for all the use. This was evidenced this weekend as the septic system filled and the restrooms was closed from 6pm Sat until 7:30 am Sun when the poop truck showed up to pump it out. There is nothing like being woken up by a poop truck running next to your tent listening to the pump. Everyone has the right to use the bathroom however there are just not enough functioning facilities for the value of people in all the sites Finally, my group of 8 reserved 3 sites. We all spaced out and followed quiet times. The 2 groups surrounding us must have had 6 tents each on their sites. Their kids were unattended, playing badminton on the roads, football in the sites and up till 11:30 yelling and blasting music. No one cared. Because there's no Internet, it was like a parade of cars and headlights throughout the night for people to go up to the office. You knew this was happening because they had to yell at everyone in their site that they were going up to the office to use the Internet quick. I think this camp has so much potential. If they could just make some of these improvements, it would be a complete game changer. Beautiful camp, excellent hosts around the office, but just needs a little more attention in some of the more 'necessary' areas.
