Don't use this taxi service!!! Disgusting taxi from the airport. Was filthy and the driver was gross! Food was all over the front seat, driver was belching. Halfway through the ride I noticed that he never turned on the meter. When I asked about it he told me that it would be a set fee of $20 to get to my hotel which was only 2 miles away! Apparently their drivers don't have to obey traffic laws! With 2 riders in his car one of their drivers sped up to pass me in a roundabout in Marion about 20 minutes ago. If I hadn't have yielded (even though he was in the wrong lane) he would have sideswiped me. When I laid on my horn he gave me the bird for about a minute--with passengers in his car! I arrived at CID on a late flight after a long day of traveling and walked out to the taxi line to get a cab to my hotel in Iowa City. I've taken this particular cab ride several times before - always to the airport, not from, and it routinely is $30-35 flat rate for the fare. When I got in this Yellow Cab of Cedar Rapids, the cab was quiet and comfortable and driver drove well. However, he also started the meter. By the time I got to downtown Iowa City, I was looking at a $72 fare. I confirmed with the driver that this was correct and he confirmed it was, noting that Yellow Cab of IOWA CITY is the one with the flat rate (though I know that A1 and Marco's also charge the same $30-35 fare). I don't think you should have to comparison shop the fares for a specific trip when everyone else in town does it for 55% less. read more

Call to dispatch was quick and easy to schedule the evening prior. Cab was just a few minutes late, which made me nervous about my options at 4 am. But he arrived just minutes later and I had plenty of time to catch my early flight. Cab was roomy and clean. I had the same experience as Karen F and Crystal O, unfortunately I didn't see their reviews before calling to request a cab. I had used the airport website's mobile version to look up the Yellow Cab of Iowa City's number beforehand which was labeled "Yellow Cab (Iowa City)," so I reasonably figured that was the same Yellow Cab of Iowa City with the $38 flat rate. Unfortunately the fare ended up being $68.50. The ride was fine and comfortable, but I didn't realize it was the Yellow Cab of Cedar Rapids until I had to shell out an unexpected rate increase of $30.50. I'm clearly not the only one who has experienced this problem. When I requested the taxi, they asked where I was going. When I told them I was going to Iowa City, that should have prompted them to either clarify that they didn't have the flat rate or redirect me to the correct Yellow Cab company. read more

I live in Los Angeles and am the only child of my 95 year old mother who still lives on her own in Cedar Rapids. When she flies to California she used the wonderful shuttle service that went out of business recently. July 3, 2019 she was flying to LA and many days in advance she called and reserved Yellow cab to pick her up at 5:30 pm to take her to the CR airport for her 7pm flight and bring her home from the airport on July 10th. July 3rd 5:30 no cab. Waiting 15 minutes she called and was rudely told "We're really busy lady! We'll get you to the airport you won't miss your flight. " Now my mother is such she needs to get to the airport early to check in and get a wheel chair to her gate. More time passed and she was panicked thinking she might have to try and drive her own car and just dump it at the airport with no help with her suitcase or the long walk from parking. Finally 45 minutes late the cab arrived and pulled into the WRONG house across the street. She had to go out side and yell "Yellow Cab!!! OVER HERE!!" She did make her flight that left 10 minutes early. But now she's afraid to fly and visit me because of the cab situation. And she's afraid no cab will be at the airport to take her home on July 10th. She doesn't have a smart phone so UBER is not an option. I am so angry at this cab company for treating my elderly mother so poorly when she had reserved a cab well in advance and they knew her special situation. HORRIBLE!!!! Shame on you!!!! read more

Yellow Cab #68 based out of Cedar Rapids is a RIP OFF! If you are traveling from Cedar Rapids to Iowa City what ever you do don't use this service. The guy is nice, but he over charges customers by at least 50%. If you are not familiar with the area, you would never know. For a 17 minute cab ride you would think the cost should be somewhere around $30-$40. He got be for $80 with Tip. New place, new experience. That won't happen again! read more

I am visiting Cedar Rapids on business. I called for a cab at about 2:30pm to get to a meeting approximately 2 miles away that started at 3:30pm. I was told by the dispatcher the cab would be there in 15-20 minutes. When no cab arrived after more than 20 minutes, I called again and the same dispatcher told me that he had indeed sent someone who was on their way. When it go to be after 3pm (and I was now actually in danger of being late), I called again. The dispatcher put me on hold for a minute and then came back and told me that the cab had "broken down" and would not be coming. He did not apologize. He then told me that he would send a cab in another 5-10 minutes. Again, I was now about to be late for a meeting that I set out for an hour earlier. Finally, I managed to get someone from the meeting to come and pick me up. The second cab he supposedly sent never came and when I called back to cancel the cab (just in case it was actually on its way), the dispatcher hung up on me. read more

For starters I would like to begin by saying I am a driver for yellow cab of Cedar Rapids. The rates are always clearly posted on the side of the vehicle before you get in one should review those rates the current rate for Cedar Rapids cabs is three dollars per mile so if you multiply the miles times the three dollars, from eastern Iowa airport to downtown Iowa city it does come to approximately $72. These rates are regulated by the city of Cedar Rapids all Cedar Rapids cabs must follow these rates. The eastern Iowa airport is located in the corporate city limits of Cedar Rapids. Iowa city taxi cabs are largely unregulated and based out of another town (Iowa city). The reality is there is probably three Iowa city cabs for every one registered Cedar Rapids cab. That would seem odd when you consider the Ic area has about one third the population of Cedar Rapids,however they get away with having so many cabs because it is a college town with big football games basketball games and major bar rushes. When it is not bar rush or the big game of the weekend those cabs simply sit around and this forces them to be more competitive in their pricing also it helps that they do not pay dues to the city and many of these cabs are operating without commercial insurance.in all fairness Marcos and yellow cab of ic have their cabs inspected by the city of Cedar Rapids and pay to do business in the Cedar Rapids area. read more
