Accommodating 3 quick examples when hauling a family of 5or6 there are van's, when feeling vulnerable you can request a woman, short on cash you can use a card. If you know you are going to need a cab at a specific time and call ahead they will be on time if not early (except bar rush but hey call at 100 130 and you are golden). I prefer doing business with local companies, so I have used Century Cab regularly for 10 years. Yes, some of the dispatchers can be pains. Most of the drivers I have dealt with have made up for it. That is, until tonight. I was told a cab would be "right there". Over half an hour later, I called back to check on it (there have been times where a dispatcher has actually forgotten to send a cab). I was told another 10 minutes. 40 minutes later, and hour and 15 minutes after I had initially called, I called again. The dispatcher seemed surprised that I had not been picked up yet. Then he started making excuses and even implied that I shouldn't complain because some people had been waiting even longer. At no time did he even attempt to apologize. The driver was even worse. As soon as I told her of my dissatisfaction she became defensive and argumentative. When I pointed out that was NOT the way to handle a customer complaint, she resorted to saying I started it. Really? I then had to deal with a litany of her bragging about how great a driver she was with 22 years experience, etc. As with the dispatcher, she made no attempt to apologize until I told her that was the first thing she should have done, acknowledge my complaint, empathize and apologize, something anyone in customer service learns the first day of training. When I told her I would complain publicly, she laughed! When I said that she, and the dispatcher, were jointly responsible for costing Century Cab a long time customer, she didn't care. It's bad enough the company spreads itself so thin that such delays happen on a regular basis. To have people try to make it out that customers are wrong for complaining is the worst. read more

Late. Smelly driver. Rude and obnoxious. Honking unnecessarily on several occasions. And a trip that was longer and much more expensive than it should have been. I mean, come on; taxi rates are already expensive in Cedar Rapids. This was just an uncomfortable, awful experience, and I'll never use them again. Simply put: Century Cab sucks!!! I had a much better experience with another taxi company in town, thankfully, but these Century guys really treated me bad on a day that was already going downhill. read more

I had two separate uncomfortable experiences with two Century Cabs in one day in Cedar Rapids that I found myself without a car or other means of transport. One driver was recklessly texting and driving -- very scary -- and wouldn't listen to me when I told him to put down his phone. The other was just smelly and the ride was uncomfortable and unnecessarily long (a trip I normally make in about 12 minutes turned out to be closer to 16 -- definitely going a little out of the way). Both cars had a "Mike Reed's Cab" on the front along with the "Century Cab" marking. Which one is it? Strange. I'm downloading the Uber app immediately! read more

I'm writing this on behalf of my mom. She's a senior citizen. Century Cab took her for a ride the other day -- way out of her way and way more expensive than she was ready to pay. The driver acted like nothing was wrong and that she was senile or something. She was practically in tears when she told me how poorly she was treated by the taxi that says "Mike Reed's Taxi Service" or something like that under the Century logo. Cedar Rapids needs to clamp down on taxi services. They should know how to treat their customers regardless of age. I can guarantee my mom will never be using Century Cab again. No way. read more

With all cab companies there are a lot of negative reviews...it seems to be, unfortunately, the nature of the business and the quality of drivers. However, if you are lucky enough to have #87 or #68 pick you up, you will be guaranteed a ride in a clean, fresh taxi, with a professional, courteous driver. Guaranteed. If you are not, you should call the office and report the incident as THIS owner is committed to providing the best customer service possible and will do what can be done to resolve the issue. read more

That is the third and final time I call this cab company. Of the three times I've used them, dispatch was not fast at answersing the phone any of the three times. One occasion, she was very rude and short. I've had to wait an hour to be picked up. A different time, a driver had to call me twice to find my address that's been on a map since the 1970's. The cabs I've been in all had GPS. I'm confident a map update wasn't needed. Then as the lost driver pulled up to my address, he drove right past me as I stood on the curb. He turned around, but still didn't see me as I stood directly in the light, in the middle of the street. I had another driver sit in front of my place for almost 20 minutes after dropping me off doing what appeared to be paperwork. All 3 cabs I've been in had some sort of very noticeable mechanical issue(s). After tonight's experience, I'll never call them again. I'd rather walk read more

Waited for over an hour after I called for the cab. Called back and the dispatcher told me to flag one down or just sit and wait and they will call me when when they get there. Never called me. I have always pushed business their way in the past. Will never again recommend them to anyone. Call yellow cab instead 365-1444. read more

I used this "service" to get home from work one night when i was having issues with my uber app. The dispatcher took forever to answer. She told me it would be 20 mins. I called back an HOUR later when my cab had still not shown up and she mumbled something about waiting for a cab to get freed up. Took me over two hours to get home, made my babysitter late for work and i didn't get to spend time with my kids. The cab smelled like feces, the driver asked me which route I wanted to take, i told her the fastest (duh, my job is right by the insterstate) but she stayed on a regular street the whole time and was passing terrible gas. I WILL NEVER USE THIS SERVICE AGAIN. a co-worker had offered me ride, i would've had to hang out in the break room for a couple hours. would have been worth it because he PASSED US on the way home. i guess ill give it one start only because it wont let me post with 0 stars read more
