This property of antiquity seems very much out of place with the modern residential homes and apartments that surround it. The property consists of a windmill, old tin structures, rusty old farm equipment, and cedar fencing, along with an old home. The house on the property is sparsley furnished with period furnishings and is open to the public, but it was locked on my visit. It has a fireplace on either side of the house. This property serves as a learning tool to what it was like to Homestead in the 1800s. Being next-door to the public library is a plus. There are no livestock and no farming happening here.

He was a notorious outlaw in the area. Thankfully someone had attached GPS coordinates to his grave. I didn't know where his grave was, so I simply punched up the GPS coordinates and took a leisurely walk to where he is interred. Of course I took pictures and added updated GPS coordinates. There were a few other memorials I "worked" while I was out there. There is a slave portion of the cemetery. My mother and I paid our respects to one and all. Please check out this cemetery.

We weren't able to find AW Grimes here or at least Google didn't want to cooperate. There are many old gravestones dating back to the 1800s for those looking to see the carvings. This cemetery is pretty clean and the newer graves are closer to the front entrance. There sadly are some graves where the headstones have fallen down and broken and I wish some folks would come here to do cleanings of the stones but it is what it is. There's not much else to see here other than the historical area I mentioned before. Parking is a bit limited toward the front. It's all gravel, nothing is paved.

The property is relatively well cared for, and even the older headstones from the late 1800s have been cleaned and restored. Like pretty much all cemeteries from this time, people did not live very long and you see plenty of infant and child graves. This may or may not be an active cemetery anymore since the last internment here was in 2012. I did find some Woodman of the world markers and a confederate soldier grave. One thing that was conspicuously absent was a Texas historical sign. The pictures included tell the rest of the story.

Unfortunately it has no parking lot so you'll have to park at a nearby business or at the high school to gain entry. It is largely a Hispanic graveyard where most of the graves are from the 20th century. It is well-maintained and many of the graves are beautifully decorated by their living family members. The cemetery is pretty much at near full capacity, but there may be some space still available.

Gaining access to this cemetery required special permission as this is not accessible to the…read moregeneral public. The entrance gate sits across from Camp Mabry on 35th St. Most of this less than half acre cemetery is surrounded by the State school buildings and grounds, but on the south side is residential homes. You can also hear the noise of Mopac just a few hundred yards away. According to the memorial stone at the entrance of the cemetery, there are about 130+ people interred here. However, within this small space I counted less than 40 stone markers. The markers themselves are almost entirely from the late 20s through the 1930s and they are all cast in concrete, not marble or granite. All but one marker denotes just the name of the decedent and the date of their passing and nothing else. I was told there was a fire in one of the buildings back in the 20s which killed a few patients and I noticed two of the decedents had the exact same day of death in 1929. This does not appear to be an active cemetery anymore. There was really not a lot to see here, nor was there a historical plaque other than the memorial stone at the entrance. Sandwiched between Round Rock and Georgetown in the countryside along County Road 110, you'll find…read morethis cemetery. It sits on about 3 acres and is oddly divided between the older headstones on the south side and the newer ones on the north side with an expanse of land in the middle. Right next-door is a camper and boat storage facility. The property is relatively well cared for, although many of the older headstones really could use a good cleaning. There is a Texas historical sign on site which speaks of the Swedish settlers in the area. This makes sense since many of the headstones reflect the language. One thing that I found odd was there were our family plots covered in pea gravel laid out, but they are unclaimed. For that matter, virtually the entire cemetery is laid out in square family plots in an orderly manner. One name that stood out here, was the name Bergstrom, which reminds me of Austin's airport namesake. The newest internment that I could find was from 2025 and there is plenty of space still available. One thing that was conspicuously missing from the newer markers were small oval porcelain photographs of the deceased cemented to the headstones. The Heritage Oak tree is massive live oak tree in the middle of Heritage Oak Park. This tree is a…read moregargantuan Southern live oak estimated to be around 400 years old. The tree is massive with a large circumference with branches that extend wide and deep. It has a large tree trunk, which immediately grabs attention. It is important to note that his particular tree was here long before the city of Cedar Park existed as a town. The Heritage Marker near the tree provides an explanation of the historical significance of the oak and its role in Cedar Park's development. The historical marker is thoughtfully done with visitor friendly, easy to read language. It highlights why this tree is important.

I felt the energy of Cedar Park and bought me a house out there. No regrets as it has turned out to be a great investment. This tree is over 400 years old standing at 57 + feet with a span of 80 feet. The trunk is 50+ inches with a circumference of 13 freaking feet! It is majestic people! I have had a love affair with this tree since the first time we met. She is magical and powerful. It is located in the median on Quest Blvd. I love to go and sit under her and just let my thoughts go. In a sense, meditate. Can you imagine how many secrets this tree could tell. I mean being 400 years old an all, ya' gotta know some good tales. Every year during the Christmas Holidays this tree is decorated with over 30,000 lights, and, it is a site to behold! One of the most beautiful things you will ever see. This beautiful Live Oak has free access. The Cedar Park Heritage Society has done a wonderful job at preserving this wonderful tree. Come visit and enjoy and please be respectful to the tree and Mother Nature.

I absolutely love this community center. The Things have literally grown up here…read more Thing One was on flag football teams here for over 8 seasons. Thing Two has been here for multiple girl scout events (including today). I have voted, worked out, played racquetball, sat with my thoughts in the community garden and so much more here. This is one of the best community centers I have ever seen. As I have lived in this community for many years, I have seen this community center evolve from the basic amenities to what now houses an adequate sized gym, a racquetball players dream, an indoor regulation sized basketball court, a place to meet friends and so much more. It's often times like this when I realize that I am so fortunate to live in a community that is able to fund such an amazing place where the community actually comes together to celebrate our common interests. #bewellcentraltx
