We went to gardens the chapel and the butterfly center. We don't have much time but there really is a lot to do here. It is like 25 per person so I definitely recommend getting there early and making a day of it. Bring lunch and have a picnic. Visit gardens butterflies and chapel as well as the raptor center. Take a hike and relax at the beach. You really can make a whole day there and with all you can do 25 isn't bad.

A very nice place to stay near Pine Mountain. I have…read morevisited Callaway Gardens many times over the years. My last visit was a long time ago and a lot has changed. On a previous visit we stayed at one of the cabins that was on property and had so much fun we researched what was available now. To our surprise, there is now a lodge and spa on property near the cabins that we previously visited. It is a beautiful large 4-story structure with a large foyer, wood beams, large windows and a lake view out the back of the hotel. There is a two-sided fireplace as you enter with a cafe on one side and check-in on the other. Check-in was easy and pleasant. The staff was friendly. Most rooms are to the right as you enter. One of the 2 elevators was broken on our visit. Our room was very nice with a balcony overlooking the lake, a small kitchenette area with a small refrigerator and a microwave. The Lodge is convenient for getting to the park due to its location. The price was definitely more than other hotels in the local area but I think it is worth it for location in/near the gardens.

We asked them about parking (no fee) and were returning there for lunch later anyway. We then hiked up Rt 190 about 50 yards and found the trail crossing. We opted to do the one on the left - I think it was Bentley? The one on the right was the Pine Mountain trail. The trail was a nice hike through the woods but never more than 200 yards from a main road. We followed it to a junction and turned right so as to begin the loop back. Since it had taken longer than planned already, we hiked back along Route 190 instead of another trail. In total, it was about 2.1 miles and took us from 10:45 a.m. to 12:05 p.m.! The trail was hilly with a lot of rocks so the pace was slow. I enjoyed the hike, though.

Although raining, we were under cover most of our visit. We started off in Calloway's Christmas Village, which was a walk through collection of shops, offering Christmas decor, gifts, face painting, story time with Mrs Claus and hot cocoa and Donuts. Our group was scheduled for the light tour at 7pm and when we checked in, Calloway was able to take our group at 6pm. The light tour was a 7-mile, 10-million-light drive-through show. We went through the light show in the open cars driven by Calloway staff, but apparently visitors are welcome to drive their own vehicles through. It was a lot of fun - and my favorite lights were those of the beautiful swan from the twelve days of Christmas, and the tree next to the lake at the end of our drive. Simply beautiful! Anyone would like this who enjoys seeing Christmas lights, (who can also walk some distance) and who can be flexible when needed.

For the most this is the favorite family traditions for Christmas and New Year times seeing lights and enjoying. If you haven't given it a chance, you must go see the lights. We did the drive through because it was cold when we were there, but the trolley is a great experience also. Will try it next time for sure. Overall it was a good time and I highly recommend coming with family and friends. You drive about an hour slowly around the grounds and see so many lights that play with music. Afterwards, you park and can get out and explore a large area with festival food trucks, more lights in a walking path, glow mini golf, a giant projector playing rudolf the red nose reindeer, and a giant tent with areas to take cute photos, face painting, Christmas Tree with lights and shop for gifts. The smoke bubbles were so cool in foggy hallow. Great for kids. Would definitely come back next year. We had stopped in and explored a few shops, and here I bought a cute little felt mistletoe decoration for the holidays. What I especially liked was that it looked like real mistletoe, not some kind of holly ball like it seems like most of the fake mistletoe decorations seem to favor. I also bought a novelty huge chapstick for men as a gag gift stocking stuffer for my husband, but somehow after the trip and unloading luggage, etc. - I had no idea what I did with it. Oh, well. The owner of this shop also owns another down the way... so when I was there, the customer before me's purchase needed some bubble wrap so she and the clerk went down to take care of that. I totally didn't mind, it's sweet to be in an area where stuff like that still happens. Cute place, nice staff, and good looking merchandise. Sold.
