Found my new favorite Filipino restaurant. Why didn't this show up in any of my previous searches these past two years living in WA?!? We tried several options. For appetizers we had lumpia Shanghai. I suggest letting it cool a bit because it came out steaming. We also had calamari which was delicious. Clearly, they take time to cook the dishes. The beef in the Mechado and Kare kare practically melts in your mouth. My son inhaled his inahaw and he is a very picky eater. My daughter enjoyed the calamari, pancit canton (her favorite) and the lechon kawali. We closed it out with cassava (amazing), kalamay, and of course, halo halo. Everything was so good I even decided to try the dinaguan even though I told my wife I'd never eat it again (and hadn't since I was a kid). You do have to pay for bottled waters or other canned/bottled beverages (calamansi is a got to). Regarding the environment, it gets a bit warm since there's no AC, but it reminded me a lot of the Philippines. There are also many cultural pieces in the restaurant. For the service, yes, there was a bit of a wait but it was worth it. And the server taking care of us was helpful and kind. We'll be coming back regularly now that we know it exists.

    Kalamay? Cassava cake.

The Dinuguan was amazing! Love that they added a little spice in it! It adds kicks to it. Love that it's not grainy like other dinuguan . The red rice was good too. It was my first time trying that. The Cassava was so good!!! The Halo halo was Amazing btw. Definitely coming back!

Driving to Olympia for the Memorial Weekend, and I thought, why not search if there's any Filipino restaurant nearby. Yes! There is! We were seated right away, the minute we stepped inside. We ordered the Empanada appetizers. Pacific Pork Ribs, it came with broccoli, special rice and the Pinakbet. It came with shrimp, pork, eggplant, okra, squash, onions, bitter melon. And, the vegetables are not crispy like stir-fried! They're flavored and cooked just right. Inside, it felt homey. I love the Filipino theme decor. Angel, the owner was friendly, happy (you can tell he's passionate about his restaurant), and attentive. Angel reminds me of a friend of mine, like his 'twin brother'. After we're done eating, he surprised us with wrapped Mangorind. It was another first for us! It's actually better than after dinner mints or chocolates. I will definetly come back and/or recommend this place. Since it's Memorial Weekend, it was almost as if my friend brought us here today, in spirit. Thank you for your service! RIP, Freddie!

I love this place! Maybe the paper covers and menu might throw you off but the owner is a great host and server. Great environment and service. My boyfriend's first time trying Filipino food and he loves it. Instant hits and favorite for him. We ordered Kare Kare and Dinaguan and halo halo. Decent presentation, ate so fast forgot to take photos. This place isn't like other restaurants you might be used to. My favorite is the paper covers, it takes you off ur phone and you can draw and entertain yourselves with the drawing materials provided! Life is kind of what you make of it, and if you can make the most of this place by enjoying everything it has to offer then you'll love it like I did. Location is not far from the highway, and good trail if you need to burn off some calories :) Will be making the occasional 40minute drive for this place.

Pork Adobo. Good flavor but needed more simmering. Too tough.

Oh my! Another Filipino restaurant option close by! Had to try it after going to a nearby Pumpkin Patch. First of, the owner was very nice and hospitable. Exactly what you expect from Filipinos. It was like we stepped right into his house! He made me & my son feel right at home. The food is made to order so it will take some time to get your food. We waited about 25min maybe 30min. I didn't know what to expect, it was our first time. Looking at the menu, I thought the pricing was for a la carte or family style. However, each dish is served in a plate w rice. Like a lunch plate. It was the main dish, heavily sauced, and rice on the side. I prefer to lightly sauce my rice so if you are like me I would suggest asking for rice on the side. Here's the lowdown: Lumpia Shanghai- Taste approved by my 5yo. Made to order per the owner and a good portion too! Escabeche- Fish w/ vegetables and sweet n sour sauce. I'm used to it being served as whole fried fish. This was a fillet. A bit too sweet but overall it was ok. Too sauced for me. Garlic Shrimp- Could use more garlic or another level of flavor. Maybe keep the shrimp heads on! :) I did appreciate the Achara on the side. Pork Adobo- The Filipino staple. None is as good as Mom's of course but this one was good enough. I really wish it was simmered for longer because the pork was still tough! :( Will I go back? I will go back when we are in the area. I really enjoyed the friendliness of the owner and I can tell the food was prepared with love. I still want to try the other dishes and the Halo Halo! Support this local business and stop by.

For starters , I am a huge fan of Filipino food. The fact that there is in one in Lacey makes me very happy . Now, let's get into the food okay ? For starters i have chicken pancit. I love the fact how you can choose your meat for the pancit, it was very flavorful. Lumpia , i love to pieces it was the right amount crisp and that crunch was AMAZING! Now the adobo i had the pork one ( only one option) but it was very tender and juice. Please know i was doing my happy dance. The service was really nice. I'm going to assume the owner was the one who serviced me, he was super sweet and talked about how this was the big 3 combo. Basically the ones you gotta get together, if ya know ya know okay !! I did take out so i didn't get to sit inside but next time i will. Food 10/10 Service 11/10

I decided to check out a food truck called Meggie's Lumpia and it was with other food trucks right beside Pope John Paul II school. Look for RED truck you couldn't miss it. I didn't want to try adobo but it seems like a lot of people were ordering it. so it must be good. Anyway, I got the beef stew (kaldereta). You can tell someone knows hot to cook. Perfect sauce with bay leaves, tender juicy bites of beef and root vegetable that were nicely roasted. 5 star!!! We also got the noodle dish, nicely seasoned reminded me of my stay in the Philippines. And yes! The egg roll, Meggie's Lumpia, was excellent. You can tell it's scratch- made and the dipping sauce was epic. Nicely reduced. It has a sweet heat that goes well with the egg roll. Mmm mmmm good!!!

It's not too bad. We order and then we waited another 30-45 minutes. Again, we were prepared to wait. It hits close to the hour mark and we notice that the patron after us got his food and we had ordered similar items. We think nothing of it and just thought we had ordered a little more than him. After another 15 minutes, my partner goes up to inquire and the cashier lost our ticket and didn't program our buzzer to anything. If we didn't inquire we wouldn't have been buzzed at all. They say to give them 15 minutes as they're going to prepare our order. That time comes and goes and my partner inquires again as so many people after us have gotten their order and have ordered the same things we have. At this point, we ask for a refund and the owner refuses. Stating that she's giving us extra so that should make up for it. At this point it's not about free items it's about the service and making it right. We didn't want the food, just our money back. After we asked a few times for our money back and her refusing, we finally get our food. The additional "free items" to make up for our wait were 3 pieces of lumpia. Probably the worst customer service we've experienced for a while. Won't be back as this left a bad taste over all.

Arirang is one of the smaller Asian markets in the area, so I decided to stop by while looking for pork belly and a specific ingredient--shrimp paste. I was hoping to find fresh pork belly since I'm used to my previous markets having a small butcher or deli section, but the only option here was frozen. It still worked out fine, but I did have to defrost it for a couple of hours before I could cook with it, which wasn't ideal when I was hoping to make lunch right away. One thing I did appreciate was their selection of Korean sides. I was pleasantly surprised to find seasoned black beans, which I really enjoy and don't always see at some markets. Their snack section was okay as well, though the overall selection felt pretty limited--understandable given the size of the store. I thought I might have missed the shrimp paste somewhere in the aisles, but when I asked the cashier, she let me know they were currently out of stock. That was a bit disappointing since I came in with a short list of ingredients and still couldn't find what I needed, so I ended up going to a Vietnamese market down the street afterward. The shop itself is pretty small, and the entrance to the parking lot feels a bit tight but there's a fair amount of spaces to park. I do like that this store is very close to where I live in Lacey, so it's convenient when I just need to stop by quickly. Overall, it's an okay neighborhood market and I might come back here for convenience, but I'm not sure it'll become my go-to spot for bigger Asian grocery shopping trips.
