I'm going to rate this place 5 stars purely for the cost value! If you're on a budget and need to use a delivery service please consider ordering from here. We ordered a chicken quesadilla but I saw one of the offers from a popular delivers service for this restaurant was 20 percent off 40 dollar spend. I was nearly at 20 dollars after the quesadilla (yes if you haven't used food delivery or have been living under a rock, it's expensive). So I saw an ala carte mole enchilada for 11 dollars. I assumed it was just a single enchilada with no sides (hence Ala carte). So I ordered 2. But no! It was (2) enchiladas per plate with a large side of rice per plate and 2 large bags of chips and salsa!! It was by far the most food I've ever gotten from a food delivery service for a grand total of a little over 40 dollars. It was insane! As far as the quality goes, it was pretty standard Mexican food, about as typical as 90 percent you'd find in America. But it was good, nothing about the food quality or taste would stop me from going back there, especially with those prices. read more

It has been a few months since I last ate here, and in that time, the menu has changed. And the food I ordered was nothing like I remembered. It was very disappointing and not anything even close to the flavor of Mexican food. The tacos smelled and tasted as if they had been reclaimed from rotten meat, chili rellenos were not fried and had no batter around them, and tasted horrible. Their texture was that of a soft fried egg. There was no spice heat to the food, no chili flavor on either dish, but there was way too much salt. The service, however, was pretty good, and the ambiance is great. read more

Here again after a year! Food is as good as I remembered! I had some beef stuffed tamales with beans and rice. It was a birthday party and we brought the cake! My sister and I eat here all the time, but it has been a little while since we have made it in for lunch. First off we notice the menu has changed and so has their pricing. No problem, it happens everywhere. Second our waitress took her time to getting around to ask if we were ready to order. My sister and I both asked for the Pick Two entree. I asked for tacos with beef and burrito with beef. I did ask if there were any peppers or onions in the meat and she said there was. I told her I didn't want the onions or the peppers, I can't have them. She said ok, and then asked my sister what she wanted. I believe she ordered the same thing with no meat (she's a vegetarian) but would have onions and peppers instead. When our food came I bit into my burrito and found onions and peppers. I called out waitress over (who now has a very bad attitude) and told her about it and asked her to take both taco and burrito back and bring me what I ordered. She took my plate and came back in a few minutes and said they couldn't make the items with just plain ground beef. WHAT? Why not? Because she said the meat is precooked and has the peppers and onions already in the mixture. So anything I would order would be the same meat mixture. So all I had was a very poor helping of beans. They were delicious, but a very slim portion. When we were leaving we notice on the bill a extra charge for my sisters peppers and onions for $4.95. We questioned it as we were paying and the cashier said it was a ala cart charge. WHY? They kept the meat and just substituted the veggies. ARE YOU FREAKING KIDDING ME? Then she tells us we should have questioned the food and bill earlier. We did, several times !!!! Then she had the gall to say as we were leaving and telling her we wouldn't be back again they just want to make their customers happy!!!! What planet does she live on? This makes us very unhappy, this was our favorite place to have sister time and to catch up over lunch. We loved eating in the bar and enjoying a good margarita with our lunch. I highly recommend you to avoid the Maplecrest location. This location has a rude Manager, the service is terrible and the food quality and quantity is ridiculous. I have been to ALOT of Mexican restaurants across the country! I can say that Cebollas is the best. The food is amazing and very authentic- they don't Americanize like other restaurants. The atmosphere is festive and fun with color and decor. The staff are delightful and always smiling, asking if you need anything ( not right after you take a large bite) before they move on to other tables. Restaurant reviews In the midst of the pandemic, we were craving carry out Mexican food. As you know in Fort Wayne, there is quite a bit of travel between your home and restaurants depending on where you live. We decided on this place since it was close to our home and also decided to eat our meal fresh in the car. The first call to place our order did not go through, but luckily our second call we were able to reach someone and leave our order. I was surprised they told us 10 minutes and it would be ready. The restaurant is in a small strip mall around the corner from and auto supply store. The check out process was easy, but they still made you sign with a pen. I had ordered the Cebolla nacho and burrito verde. The food was freshly cook and came with ample chips and salsa. The salsa was better than canned variety with a little spice. The cebolla nacho was okay, however they completely forgot to put any cheese in the nacho so that was disappointing. You can see the lack of cheese on the pictures. The burrito verde was good with ample ingredients, but the steak could use a little more seasoning. Overall the food was just okay and I'll have to check out some other mexican places before deciding on whether to come back again. What should have tipped me off was the salsa for the chips. The parking lot was full for a snowy Wednesday night, which is usually a good sign. The decor was vibrant and, as one reviewer put it, kitschy. I've been to several Mexican restaurants throughout the state with similar decor. I get seated and a server comes by with a big bowl of tortilla chips and a carafe of fresh salsa. I was hungry and ready to dive in; I pour a bowl full of salsa, grab a chip, dip it, and...meh. All tomato flavor with a hint of cilantro, and no heat. What a letdown. I look through the menu, and it's standard Mexican fare - enchiladas, burritos, chicken, steaks, but nothing really stands out. The house speciality is a steak. I end up ordering a combo dish, beef tacos, burrito, and a tamale. The ground beef was good, but had no flavor. If this was picadoillo, it would have been seasoned and flavorful. Luckily they had a bottle of Cholula on the table for some flavoring. The tamale was a lump of hard masa with ground beef and chili sauce covering it. It wasn't horrible, but not the best I've had either; I've had canned tamales that were better. There was lots of food, but it was all bland. Considering I'm in Indiana, local readers are probably expecting that. I expect better, especially since I've visited several muy autentico Mexican restaurants in the state. I'm giving Cibolo three stars for the service, and that I didn't get food poisoning. I really liked this place! The taco salad was almost perfect. Beef could have more spices and diced tomatoes instead of a single slice, but it was very good. I tried the Sopa Mexicana. Great experience tonight at Cebolla's! I love Mexican food and I do have pretty high expectations when it comes to flavor. I spent 10 years in Phoenix and I wasn't sure if I would find a Mexican spot that would deliver the flavor that I was looking for. I was wrong! Cebolla's really gets it right. I had the Chimichanga Sabrosa, shredded marinated spicy beef with peppers and onions. Wow! I actually could eat another right now lol! I also love spice and I always ask if a restaurant has a spicier salsa or hot sauce. They do! Our waitress seemed a little hesitant to offer it to me but I convinced her that I could handle it. She called it a tomatillo sauce, I'm pretty sure it was made with habanero. It was awesome! It was definitely very spicy but I really enjoyed the flavor and I thought it really enhanced the flavor of the chimi. I would recommend asking for this sauce if you like extra spice! Overall I am impressed. I will definitely come back to Cebolla's when I am craving Mexican food. There are many other items I would try on the menu. read more

Arroz con pollo normally a pretty safe dish to order. This was the lunch portion which, although a fairly generous portion , it was mostly rice and very little queso cheese. I had to ask for more cheese to put on it. Too salty and the taste was just bland. My chips that I got as an appetizer with salsa were scorched a dark brown. I had to sort through the basket just to get about five or six normal chips. Overall a very disappointing visit. I haven't been to Cebollas for quite some time and as my memory serves me it's because the quality of food has gone down so much more than it used to be. LOVE coming here. It is our family's favorite place to go. Upon walking in it has bright colors that one would expect at a Mexican restaurant. We were taken to the main dining room and in the middle there is a beautiful fountain that is decorated with flowers and decorations. At Christmas time they change this fountain into either a Santa a snowman or a gingerbread house. So if you have kids it's really neat to see during the holidays. Immediately we are served chips and salsa in the waitress comes soon after and takes a drink orders. The Texas margarita is always a great hit for me. I don't know why I would even come to Cebollas without ordering one. They do have regular margaritas that are quite good to. If the child would want a frozen drink they can order frozen virgin drinks that come in mango, strawberry and whatever else they have on hand that day. My daughter always orders the bend and it's always good. The chips are nice and crispy and warm in the salsa you can tell is definitely homemade. If you are sensitive to heat you need to think about ordering the salsa. For instance my son some days thinks the salsa is too hot. Other days he thinks it's just right. As for the rest of us we'd like hot. So I ordered the burrito for a day and it comes with cube chicken which I always get shredded instead. In my picture I don't have rice because I don't usually eat the rice. But it does usually come with rice. It was scrumptious as usual. My 2 children always get chicken quesadilla Lacasa. And they both love it. It is also one of my favorites. As far as service it is great the only thing I don't quite like is there a little neurotic about the Covid thing. They only allow so many people upfront for the waiting in the rest if you have to wait outside. I understand that is your policy but we are trying to change and move forward now. Always a fan of Cebollas. Atmosphere is as to be expected, bright colors and plenty of seating. I love the separate bar area for a more intimate feel. Staff is friendly and prompt. They are able to get you in and out in a timely manner, but often times a little too fast for my liking. Can't go wrong with a margarita. I also really like that you can purchase them to-go and store them at home for your pleasure. I typically go for an original lime, but I do hear the flavor are tasty. Chips and salsa are always right at your fingertips and they keep them filled up. I always eat too many! The food is consistently good, but never blows me away. Great fun atmosphere. Server was very quiet but friendly and didn't introduce himself. The only reason I knew his name was because of his name tag. Ordered the queso appetizer and it was barely warm and runny. DInner came shortly after. the Chile poblano side was hot and amazing. Burrito was more like the size of an enchilada. Asked for no lettuce still got lettuce. Hubby ordered 4 item combo. Once again meal was barely warm. Flavors were good but I would say was still a mediocre meal. I have been to Cebolla's at least 3 times now, each time while in town visiting family. Each time, we have been very pleased with everything about Cebolla's. This last time, we had a large group of 5 adults and 2 children ages 6 and 1 year. Three of the adults had special dietary (no gluten, no dairy) needs, as did both children. One of the adults was also vegetarian. If any group would have been a challenge for Cebolla's to please, then this one would have been it! The server was really wonderful. She made sure that the children were taken care of as far as seating, menus, and crayons. She took our orders promptly, and delivered them back to us just as promptly. She seemed to intuitively know what we needed throughout our visit, and took care of everything. The food was wonderful! Hot, fresh, perfectly seasoned typical Mexican restaurant fare in generous portions. Everyone in our party was very happy with their meals, including the kids. My vegetarian/gluten free/no dairy sister loved her veggie fajita, which was such a large portion that she took more than half of it home. Our whole experience was a very pleasant one. read more

We try and go whenever we're in town, including the last couple visits when we went for brunch. They serve a brunch buffet that includes a mix of Mexican and American cuisine, but there is truly something for everyone! Breakfast items like an omelette station, french toast sticks. The bacon isn't real, so I would skip it - rubbery and freeze dried maybe? Fixings of all sorts for fajitas, salad bar (table) and dessert items like cake, cheesecake (the real kind, nice and dense), and sopapillas with real caramel! I went back for 2nd's just for the caramel sauce. They also serve their milk beverage found by request only, any other day of the week. Of course, if the menu suits you, everyone is served one once they are sat. Always will return! Service is hit or miss, but as long as chips and salsa is on the table, we're set. Since most Mexican food places serve you chips and salsa, a bad salsa can ruin your meal even before you get started. This was not the case with Cebolla's salsa. It has good flavor and just enough heat that even the timid will continue to eat it. There is hot sauce on the table if you want to bump the heat up a bit. The decor is colorful and cheerful and makes you think it would be a good place for a party or large group. Fiesta! The prices are fair for this region and they have an extensive lunch menu. You can order lunch and a drink under $10... but not if you get a Margarita, which will set you back $10 all by itself. I ordered the dinner Mixteca Salad to share with my mother. The salad is $12 but definitely a good value. It was HUGE!! The ingredients were fresh including plenty of mixed lettuce (not all iceberg), freshly snipped cilantro, avocado, corn, black beans, red bell pepper, and with just the right amount of a buttermilk base Chipotle Dressing. We had it with the grilled shrimp, but you have an option of adding chicken or beef. The service was speedy even though the place was packed. Used to be pretty good, food and service, but no longer. Stopped in today and place was unrecognizable. The service would have to be improved drastically to be terrible. Had to ask for salsa four times, only getting it as with getting ready to leave. No drink refills or checked for food being good, which it wasn't. It's not like the guy didn't have time to stand around the bar and shoot the s*** with his buddies, it's just that he didn't want to be bothered serving customers. The food was mediocre at best, tasted like something taken out of her frozen food case at your local Walmart. Tacos had no flavorings and we're just downright bland. Same for burritos, taquitos were much better. I just have a hard time believing this is the same place as I've been in the past, but I doubt it's going to be around a lot longer if today was typical. Ok I dont usually go to Cebolla's for "mexican" but out of convenience me and my date wanted margheritas and chips, although we ended up ordering some light food. I ordered the beef tostada, which is a flat taco pretty much. I can accept it taking 45 minutes because it was a Saturday night, but it was sad looking, cold meat, soggy tostada...just not impressed for a $4.20 taco (total bill $32 without tip). Cebolla's used to be good at one time, but I have not had any good experience there in many years. On the plus side, margherita was good, and chips an salsa was ok. My goto for mexican is Casa Grande on Stellhorn, although I have heard good things about Monterrico at Maplecrest and Stellhorn and will try soon. read more

Let me begin by saying the server was attentive and polite, no issues there. However, we always order the Mixteca salad, and it is always simply delicious. This one, today, was sorely lacking. They have changed the chicken in the salad from a breast cut in long slivers and placed on top to a bunch of little pieces of dried out chicken with no flavor. Always there were big pieces of avocado around the rim of the salad, zero avocados today. This place never lets me down. First of all, it's exactly what you would expect out of an "authentic Mexican" place. Kitschy decor, colorful, free chips & salsa. but, es muy delicioso. My go-to is the arroz con pollo, with added peppers and onions. I also fall back on the steak fajitas. You can't go wrong with this menu. So to summarize, it's just like most Mexican restaurants. This is the worst food and worst customer service. My husband ordered the shrimp chimichanga and it was mostly tomato, onions and peppers, barely any shrimp. My quesadilla was just chunks of chicken. The taco salad I ordered had no flavor what so ever. This was not worth the 53 dollars I spent on this food. When I called and spoke to the manager, he said, "well there's nothing I can do, some people like it and some people don't." I will never go back to this establishment.
