I can compliment the staff, the selection, the ambiance, but its the overall attention to detail that really sets this place apart. What should've been an exciting time turned out to be the worst retail/customer service experience I've ever had. I'd like to preface this by saying that I do not enjoy writing negative reviews, but I feel it's important to share. It started with my mother and I walking in and no one greeting us, but I went up to a woman and asked if she could help me with wedding bands. She proceeded to tell us to just look around ourselves and she disappeared, leaving us. Another associate then came up to us asking us if we had been helped, to which our response was "we don't know?" But this man, Hacik, seemed more helpful, so we began chatting. He looked at my engagement ring and off of that suggested doing something custom since they didn't have what I was looking for. He drafted a crude drawing of an idea he had off the top of his head which sparked interest in me, so he set up a custom consultation with their jewelry designer. My mother and I return for my consultation, and once again are not greeted. Then the designer, Erin, comes and shakes my hand and starts to sit down, completely ignoring my mother standing next to me. All of this without a smile or pleasantry. I introduce my mom, brush it off and sit down. Erin quickly makes it clear that either Hacik didn't send her what we discussed OR he did and she didn't look at it or bring it with her for context because she knew nothing of what I was looking for. So I described exactly what I told Hacik: my engagement ring is so perfect to me on its own, I want a band that can stand alone. She looks at my ring, doesn't say congratulations or anything, and just says "oh ok" and begins to ask about my ring, to which I didn't know most of the answers because my fiancé custom designed it. She says there should be an engraving on the inside, but I know there's not. She insists and asks if she can see for herself and of course there isn't one (why didn't she believe me?) and she hands my ring back and says "...that's strange." The passive aggressive comments and tone were making me feel uncomfortable. She asks me if I've seen anything that I like as a reference, to which I told her I had only seen one ring that made me excited because most bands are pretty basic with not much design to them and show her a picture. She doesn't seem satisfied and asks me if there's anything else I have to show and I say no, that's why I'm here for a consultation: I haven't seen anything that I truly love, and my engagement ring being custom has made my standard pretty high. Cue the patronizing: she says to me "just because something is custom doesn't mean it's one of a kind" and tells me that the ring I showed her for reference AND my own ring "might be unique and special to you, but I've seen a thousand things just like it in the last week." To which I respond "that makes sense because you work in jewelry and I don't." I couldn't believe someone in her position would say something like that to a client. She was irritated with my lack of a fully realized idea to which I said "I'm not a jewelry designer- that's why I came to you", and she kept saying things like "I'm hearing a lot of what you don't like but I don't know what you DO like" while not giving me any new ideas to play off of. It felt like she put me on the spot to come up with a whole design myself while also shutting down everything I said. Then she drew things that were the exact opposite of what I told her. So once again when I was nixing those ideas, she got visibly frustrated with me even though she simply didn't take in what I described, which makes sense because she talked over me a lot. She asked if what Hacik drew was an idea I liked and I explained that's why I was there in the first place: his drawing was so interesting I wanted to delve further! At this point I felt so dejected by her pretentious remarks I was on the verge of tears. The she left to try to find Hacik's drawing. I turned to my mother and we agreed we weren't getting anywhere and what should've been a fun time turned out to be the opposite. So we decided it was best to leave. I tried to find Erin but she was in the back so I told an associate we were working with Erin but it wasn't a good match so we were leaving. He looked at me blankly and said "oh. ok."...no apologies, no asking if he could do anything to help in any way. Just let us leave without a concern. So after having this terrible experience I emailed Hacik to let him know I'd be going in another direction and told him how disappointing my meeting was with Erin, which was unfortunate because he and his ideas were great. I've received no response nor acknowledgment, no apology, nothing. I'm flabbergasted and appalled at the negative, uncreative, pedantic and dismissive behavior from Erin. For someone with the  job title of jewelry designer, which entails working closely with clients, Erin Schmelzel was completely uninspired and rude, marring whatever reputation CD Peacock once held to me. read more

C.D. Peacock is a wonderful full service jeweler located in Oakbrook Mall. It is tucked in a corner right next to Lord and Taylor - keep that in mind so you don't park on the other side of the mall in the rain. The shop is spacious and actually quite relaxing. They are always well staffed and they pass customers to the subject matter experts seamlessly. I have bought some jewelry here over the years and everything has been exceptional. This chain is a little on the higher end of prices, but the quality there is quite good. They do a lot of their designs in house and you can see the jewelers in the back setting rings. I worked with Tim Engleson on an engagement band years back at another shop and my wife loved his work! He is now designing for C.D. Peacock I purchased a great watch from there during a customer appreciation sale and got a wonderful price. The showroom has a good variety of watches from most of the more well known makers. The Rolex selection is awesome and they will take care of authorized service along with answering any watch questions you may have as the years go on. I recently stopped to get two watches resized. One was purchased at C.D. Peacock and the other elsewhere. The woman who helped me was so friendly - she actually made it a pleasant experience versus just another chore. She quickly took the pins out of both watches and resized them on the spot. She didn't charge me (much appreciated) and even gave me a hard plastic watch case to carry one home in. The positive is everyone is friendly. The negative is that the sales tactics used were extremely misleading. I came in to have the setting changed on a pendant. The associate Donna S. took my pendant and quoted a price she said she had gotten similar work done for. She told me that she would need to keep my pendant while getting the final cost estimate. After a week she came back with a price literally 3 times more than her quote. The process was inconvenient being that she insisted on keeping my jewelry and when I reminded her of her price quote she said that based on the work they wouldn't be able to get close to her quote. I was able to get work done expertly by a jewelry for $50 more than Donna's quote. I felt that these tactics are super "salesy" and are an attempt to pressure customers i to spending more than they need to. Buyer be cautious. read more

I was very fortunate to meet a very nice saleslady named Julie though who helped me get the process started. Fast forward 6 months, I have made a few purchases and got to know Julie better and have really enjoyed my visits to the store. I know the hard to get pieces might take some time but if you're looking to build a long term relationship, Julie, Tim, and the rest of the team there are always helpful and welcoming. So stop on by and check the store out. Just be patient and respectful as I'm sure they deal with an overwhelming amount of people looking for the same things. This C.D. Peacock boutique in Oak Brook is certainly better than their other locations, such as the Schaumburg or the Skokie one. They not only have more stocks and displayed products in their large store, but also actually have a better service. The salesperson this tine (Art?) was quite knowledgeable with all the wristwatches I was interested in, but never pushy. I would highly recommend this store to any Yelpers who are planning to buy high-end wristwatches in Chicagoland. This time I was interested in a new Patek Philippe watch. BUt this particular watch has just been introduced, and will only be stocked at this store after a few months, as I was told. And so, I ended up getting a Rolex Daytona with Oysterflex bracelet, which had not been on my original plan at all. Even if it was an impulse buy, I did not have any regret afterwards. I was still happy with my purchase, and was highly satisfied with their service. Then, why not 5 stars, and only 4 stars in my rating?--There are some rarer watch brands that this store does not carry. Horrible customer service and grossly overpriced. 3 years ago we stopped in to look at diamonds for an engagement ring. As we were talking, the sales lady collected some basic info from me to see what our range was, fine. What she did not explain, mention, or even hint at was the fact she was registering me for a C.D. Peacock credit card! When the card arrived in the mail I immediately cut it up and never activated it. I contacted the sales lady and voiced my frustration with her negligence informing her she lost all potential business. 3 years later it still shows up on my credit report despite never being activated. Disgusting behavior from a bottom feeding retail outlet. To end the story on a good note. I did find an awesome diamond from a wholesaler downtown that was much higher quality than anything C.D. Peacock showed me at 30% lower pricing. My now wife of 1 year and I couldn't be happier. Bottom line - never shop retail for major jewelry purchases, ever. In response to your comments Rosa D. Went in to look at the speedy and was completely ignored. There were two sales people ( a male and a female) standing right in front of the Omega counter who acted as if I did not exist. I was at the counter for a solid three minutes before I turned around to approach the two sales people. As I started to walk over, the male turns and walks away towards the Gucci area and the women asks if the couple who just walked in needed help who were behind me. Is this the place where I want to spend my money? I'm actually glad that this happened to me because I would be pretty upset if this happened after I bought from this place. If you want to purchase a timepiece or jewelry I would advise you to really do your research. Even though it is the same company, each store will tell you something different in price/policy. In the course of a few months we bought many pieces in preparation for a wedding and throughout the experience stories from each store were different. ex: 1.) one store said absolutely no discounts on cartier watches while another store granted a discount. 2.) one store granted a merchandise credit for a return a few days past the date while another said absolutely not. 3.) one store said we had a promotional gift card for spending a certain amount, another said it was a wedding gift from the store to us. etc etc Just leaves a really bad taste in your mouth when you're dealing with more than a few hundred dollars. read more

I stopped in to CD Peacock recently to squander money on a new watch - something I've wanted for a long time. I decided on CD Peacock based simply on TAG Heuer's website - they were listed as a dealer, and they were kind of on my way home. Done. I was promptly greeted by Anthony, who was very helpful and patient throughout my semi-aimless browsing. The watch (side note - CD Peacock doesn't actually sell watches - they sell "timepieces." Or, at the very least, "wristwatches." And they don't have salespeople, they have "horologists." Right.) I had my heart set on wasn't in stock, but he was able to find something that would be roughly the same weight and bracelet feel so I could tell if it would feel odd on my wrist. Once I selected, he promised it would be in stock in roughly 2 weeks, but actually had it in before a week was up. After stopping in to pick up the watch, they were very patient in sizing it - my old watch had a loose bracelet that I had grown used to, so while I wavered on whether I wanted it tighter or looser, they were more than happy to modify the bracelet several times. I hope I won't be back - it was an expensive trip. Since the price for the watch was set by the manufacturer, I can't comment on CD Peacock's pricing in general. I have a friend who had, by all accounts, a really horrible experience here, but even though I was buying about the least expensive watch (sorry, timepiece) they carried, they were friendly and helpful throughout. read more
