I've been getting the itch to upgrade my watch in a big way ever since they released the ceramic Submariners, since, well, my non-ceramic is no longer the cool kid on the block. Stopped in to C.D. Peacock today in Oakbrook to check out the larger case of the new revision expecting to be treated like I typically do when I walk into a jewelry shop... Which basically amounts to being ignored, or just generally be given the cold shoulder. (To be fair, I look very young and don't dress like someone who would be shopping here.) However, I was pleasantly surprised by how incredibly attentive and courteous Art was answering all my questions, letting me check everything out, and indulging my massive inner watch nerd. I met Gabe a few weeks back while looking to trade in a couple watches to diversify the color in my collection. Well, hello customers and staff, I'm a customer for cd peacock for couple of years, spent around 40-50k in past years, not too much, but not that little either, came in to get a watch that was on sale online, they told me to be back certain day, I came back and watch was not there, not a biggy, waited 25-30mins, they brought the watch, price for the watch is over 20k, new, on sale, handle me watch (no box, no papers, just a watch for over 20k $) when it was listed new watch, I asked them where is the paper work and the box, they told me why didn't I ask about it when I was paying for it????? Are you kidding me????? Coming to jewelry store, official Rolex reseller, selling stuff for thousands of dollars, having store in prestige place like Oakbrook mall....I asked for manager, her name is Rosa, she asked me same question, why didn't I ask if this watch was for sale with papers and original box.....I honestly was speechless, I asked, if that's how she runs the store, I could tell she got uncomfortable, but she held on, I told them I will return the watch, she told me That I cannot....after all I had another sells man run and get me some sort of paper work, some other box from another watch, this was the worst buying experience, I own 3 more expensive watches and never had anyone treated me this way, place is nice, but people are awful, customers be aware, make sure you ask all The questions, better if you get answers in writing...there is no business from me or my friends at this location ever again read more

My boyfriend and I decided to stop in yesterday as we were in Oak Brook based on my best friends recommendation. I had been in with her several times looking at rings for her, however this would be my first experience. We immediately walked back to the cases and started looking. I already had a picture of a ring saved on my phone that I have kept coming back to and decided to see if I could find something similar. Low and behold I found something better. Patrica was AMAZING. she came over and took out the rings and the bands (which I never even looked at once) and was chatting with us, explaining how the process works, and etc. We explained that this was our first time looking but that I had a pretty good idea of what I wanted in a ring and certainly what I did not want. We were in there for over an hour, and she knew we were not purchasing today, yet she wrote down everything including my size, for my boyfriend. It was a wonderful experience and I cannot stop thinking about the ring that we found. Happy giving CD Peacock in oak brook one star since the space is nice. But unlike the other reviews, my girlfriend and I went in a few weeks back to look at some Cartier and IWC watches. We were completely ignored for 15 minutes...even while standing in front of an employee stocking the IWC shelves. I finally asked someone who was not busy for assistance and they said they would send someone right over. 10 minutes later, and without the slightest sniff of service, we walked out. It's a shame, as I was excited to try on a few pieces and maybe add one to my collection...but suffice to say, I will take my business elsewhere. I have turned to CDP for jewelry needs for over 30 years and thought I was given good quality and service. I do not know all the corporate restructuring that has ensued in those years but CDP is no longer a quality or ethical jeweler. Eight months ago I took a number of pieces to them for re--sizing and custom redesign I am still waiting for most of those pieces. Multiple promises were made to me and then broken because I did not get them in writing. The stress of the delays, combined with the deception and the complete lack of concern for customer satisfaction has left me shocked and devastated. I vow to get my pieces back from them and never set foot in their store again. Please be very careful. Go somewhere else. read more

Horrible service!!! First, I appreciate the fact that they sell luxury watches! Okay, it took them close to 10 minutes for me to get any service. They are extremely short on staff and a "sales professional", specifically Tim Hannigan saw that I was interested in some of the Cartier and Panerai watches, walked passed me and evidently ignored me. After about ten minutes, I finally got some assistance. After all this, I walked out. Very pushy: felt like used car dealer salespeople. Art seemed friendly, but only if you have a lot of dough to spend. I noticed him avoiding the customers who weren't "dressed" in rich attire. They also had a young 20-something African guy, likely Nigerian, who supposedly was their expert "Swiss" watchmaker with 20+ years experience. He didn't have anything close to a Swiss accent but was wearing cool eyeglasses, so that seemed strange. There also weren't any Swiss horology (watch repair school) certificates on his wall. After 30 minutes of waiting, he told me that he couldn't fix my Swiss watch problem--he wasn't helpful at all. He said he was clueless as to what the problem was and made excuses not to work on it. He told me to send it into the manufacturer, since he didn't have the skills to fix it! I wasn't surprised. Gina was rude and hot-tempered about giving directions on the phone. Rosetta was nice, however, when she signed in my watch. If you want your Swiss watch to still work like a fine timepiece, I recommend you go elsewhere, preferably in Switzerland. read more

I love this place. Before my wife and I got married, we came here to check out engagement rings at the recommendation of my sister-in-law. I was very surprised by the professionalism exhibited by the store's employees. There are a lot of jewelry stores out there that will either judge you or ignore you depending on how you look. My wife and I look incredibly young even though we are in our mid-late 20s, so I was kind of expecting sub par treatment when we first visited (the store is very classy). I couldn't have been more wrong. Tim was the employee who helped us. He showed us the store's entire collection of engagement rings (from the store's personal brand to the high end name brand rings) and answered at least a hundred questions that my wife and I had for him. He never asked what we did for a living, how old we were, or pressured us into buying anything. Even though we didn't buy from him the first time, he treated us like valued customers. We returned a few weeks later after looking at other stores, and he actually remembered us and took us around the whole store, AGAIN. CD Peacock has a huge collection of rings. I eventually bought my wife a Tacori engagement ring and its matching wedding band, and she couldn't be happier. I was a little nervous because I was on a tight schedule and needed the engagement ring by a certain date, and Tim helped me every step of the way. He even gave me his cell phone number so that I could nag him about the status of the ring. Needless to say, he came through. If you want a jewelry store with superb customer service and a vast selection, CD Peacock is the place to go. They also offer to shine your rings whenever you swing by. Amazing customer service! My hubby and I popped in here on St. Valentines Day. (Background info: I've been on a massive search for a cushion cut, aquamarine ring in a halo setting with pave diamonds that extend down the band. Specific. I know! Thing is, I saw this ring several years ago when I lived in IN. When I finally had an occasion to request the ring, it was long gone. It's been almost two and half years - most would say give it up already.) Ok, back to the actual review. We were greeted by a tall, friendly, male (Anthony). He quickly offered us a beverage and asked how he could assist us. We explained what we were searching for and he immediately had several suggestions. Unfortunately, he didn't have exactly what I was searching for in the case. He did, however, go above and beyond in order to find something that I could be just as pleased with. His efforts included us selecting a setting and then he colored a diamond with a highlighter, yes, a highlighter. He colored the diamond blue, placed it in the setting and had me try it on. This helped tremendously (I'm a visual person and it's hard for me to envision things). Anthony explained once we narrowed down the setting he would have numerous loose aquamarine stones brought into the store so we could select the stone that we liked best. Wow! If this doesn't explain the lengths these people are willing to go for their customers, then give it a try yourself. I think CD Peacock has a good selection of timepieces. They are a bit hard to work with at times, but they've been getting better over the years. I have a Panerai and they have Paneristi events here. Honestly, if you're in the market for a new timepiece, this isn't a bad place to look. Sure, there are others in the Chicago area - and you should do your homework. You won't go wrong here. I will deduct one star for price. They are hard to negotiate with and almost any other place will negotiate (or at least bundle). read more

This review is for my purchase of an engagement ring setting as a first time customer to this store. I had bought a 1.5ct diamond from a reputable online site and I needed a setting to place the diamond in to complete the engagement ring. I went around to several Chicago shops and never found the perfect store until this one. Now mind you that you don't get the lowest rock bottom price at this store, but what you do get is service. My salesman really backs me up. I don't know if it's a charade or what, but he really seems to bat for his customer. This guy bent over backwards to get me the engagement ring I wanted for my special lady. I am what you call an OCD customer. I will scrutinize and find minutias of error if you give me enough time. I'm not sure if it has to do with my job being a doctor but whatever. So, these guys and I go through 3... THREE... settings to find the perfect one. Let me explain. I had my diamond placed into 3 separate Tacori (high cost pieces) engagement ring settings before settling on number 3. CD Peacock allowed me to revise the design two times to get to #3. The first setting did not look right, the diamond was too short in the setting so we re-did the setting from scratch. The second setting was crooked to my eyes so we un-seated the diamond and sent it to Tacori for a third setting. Who does that??? Who allows the customer to go through three $4,000 - $5,000 engagement ring settings just to please the customer? It took 3 months to build my engagement ring but it was worth it. Thanks to CDP for dealing with me and the result of them bending over backwards for me? Lifelong customer. They earned my repeat business. read more

Great service - not pushy AT ALL. Very helpful in guiding me to an anniversary band for my wife. I gave a budget and the salesman only showed me rings within my budget and helped give me ideas. Where the salesman really shined - is that I liked a ring but it was in platinum and I wanted to present the ring to my wife in 2 days... but it takes 2 weeks to custom-make a ring in 18K white gold. So the salesman sold me the platinum ring for the same price of the 18K ring (about $1000 less!!) and told me just to bring it back after I presented it to my wife and then we could have her finger sized and the ring custom-made in white gold. My boyfriend and I recently went here to look at engagement rings - we've just started looking and this was the third store we went to. I was not impressed with their customer service - no one greeted us or asked if they could help. We found the engagement section on our own, where we stood and looked for 10 minutes while the staff paid very little attention to us (one employee did come over for a minute, but he only made small talk about the weather and did not ask how he could help or if we would like to see any of the rings). Excellent customer service. Colleen was extremely professional, kind, knowledgeable, prompt. She answered my call even though I had called before opening hours, and knew exactly what I was looking for. She knew what was in their inventory, even though she wasn't even in the store yet, and let me know that she'd call me to confirm once she made it to the store. She was very efficient, gave me all the information I needed to know to make my purchase. I felt very comfortable with her. She even shipped the timepiece FedEx overnight delivery for free, so I could have it the next day. I had been searching all over the internet and made several calls to multiple stores in my state for this particular piece to gift to my husband, but the timepiece wasn't available, even for backorder, at any of the stores locally (Atlanta). I was ecstatic that I could receive the watch on such short order, with no hassle, at no additional cost (far cheaper than the mark-ups I saw on internet stores). I was deciding between two watches and I finally chose. They said if I changed my mind, I could come back and get the other one. So I changed my mind and I decided that I wanted the other one. Since it took close to an hour to handle the first transaction, I called on my way out to tell them I wanted the other one so they could have the links removed and get me out of their faster. It takes me over 30 minutes just to get there. The manager answered the phone and was rude and said she would take care of it when I got there. I said I didn't have an hour to do all this as I have a long drive out there. I asked to speak with the manager and she said she WAS the manager. I told her that was disappointing. So as expected, when I got there, it had not been taken care of but they got me out fast because I was the only one in the store. My situation as embarrassing as it is CD peacock Christine the manager in the Woodfield location, was able to help me even though I was not a customer. I had my wedding ring resized it was my second wedding ring, my first one was stolen. I had my wedding ring resized from another reputable jeweler. When I received my ring back it just didn't have the fire from the facets and I was convinced that my stone was switched. I immediately called CD Peacock to see if I could come in last minute to have my ring assessed. Christine put it under the microscope and found possible metal from the buffing that had adhered to the stone. She remeasured it, steamed it, cleaned it and it came back blinding me just as my stone always did. Christine assured me after seeing my appraisal that it was my stone! Because of Christine the relief that she gave me was priceless! Thank you CD Peacock for accepting me into your store even though I was not a customer that is above and beyond. If I ever need anything in the future or know of anyone that needs jewelry I will definitely steer them to your way. I had a great first experience at CD Peacock with Gabe, their amazing, talented, friendly watch repair specialist. Gabe came highly recommended by several members of a Panerai watch forum I am a part of. I had a stripped screw head in my watch that two other jewelry stores in downtown Chicago had said they would not touch. When I took it to Gabe, he not only managed to get the screw out, but her literally MADE me a screw in house because he would have had to order the part and wait weeks to receive it from the Panerai Service Center otherwise. I must say I am relieved after reading other reviews of CD Peacock stores. I basically had the same experience as the other reviewers in that I was made to feel like the lowest jerk at this CDP location on 2 occasions. I personally found everything written about CD Peacock and their employees to be true. This is the worst staff in jewelry. The poor service, arrogrant attitude, shallowness, and lack of knowledge are really sad. When I first came (months ago) it was to see Veragio settings. I had to beg for sales help (because the employees don't make eye contact or greet). When I finally got a saleswoman, instead of being shown the rings I picked, I got a 20 questions interview that was basically sizing up my net worth (i.e. "So what does an accountant make these days? Where do you live? Do you own it?"). In the end, she wouldn't take the settings out from the case. I had to view the rings with her holding them up UNDER THE GLASS,!! And this was not a foreign saleslady either, which I would have simply chalked up the experience to cultural differences or language barriers, it was an American saleslady who had been there for years! The 2nd time I came in was to pick out a watch for my lady's B-day. I was dressed a bit nicer because I just left work, so I only had to wait 10mins this time. After describing what I was looking for (Raymond Weil or some dressy ladies watch), I was berated by the salesman, told I was completely wrong, and what I need is a Tag Heur. When I mentioned my lady doesn't like sport watches or Tags, the salesperson frowned at me, asked me why was I being so cheap, claimed RW watches are terrible, and that he was giving me the best deal on this Tag Aquaracer (which was $600 more than the max budget I gave him). I later found the same Tag on Amazon selling for $400 less. I only make a few jewelry purchases a year, but I have really come to enjoy jewelry shopping for my lady, particularly at this young point in our lives. I would say I was attracted to CD Peacock for their inventory (which is upper to middle luxury). But the bottom line is who wants to spend thousands at a place that treats you like crap? I am an unemotional buyer, which to me means looking for the best deal no matter what and ignoring the "Best Customer Service" and the shpeals, but I wouldn't buy anything at CD Peacock, even if the exact same watch or diamond was 50% less than at other stores. But then again, I would need to get a salesperson to show me the merchandise and that is impossible at CD Peacock!! read more

Be aware that C.D. Peacock may be totally untrustworthy. My wife's wedding ring have five high quality matched diamonds set in white gold. The settings became worn and thus were given to Peacocks' to be redone. Peacocks' totally over did the settings almost covering the diamonds. Another jeweler connected the settings but informed us that two of the diamonds no longer matched and appeared to have been substituted with lower quality stones. read more
