I dummied up my 1911 real good, and he fixed it in five minutes. He cleaned it better than it was when new, and removed the factory burrs from the ramp. The work was done ahead of schedule, and I dropped off another gun which needs a minor repair. Better to hire a pro than try do it yourself. The cost was very fair. read more

This guy ruined one of the scope base screws threads on my Remington 700 when removing an old scope mount. I came in there to ask him if he could remove an old Redfield Mount from a 1971 Remington 700 and he said he could do it, but in the process he drilled out the last hole removed half the threads . He claimed the screw was already broken when it clearly was not because I tried to remove it.The screw broke off while he was hitting it with a chisel or something, I can hear him banging on the gun in the back instead of using a torch to heat it up. Thats would soften the metal so he can try to back it out. Now I'm having a hard time finding machinist to figure out how I can get this thing back to factory. I would give them a NEGATIVE 1if I could. Chris said the part needed was hard to find so I went home and googled the part and found it costs around $1.50. Midwest, Wilson Combat, Fusion and every other 1911 gunsmith and parts dealer had the part in stock. I ordered 2 Thumb Safety Lock Plunge Pin just in case it ever happened again, I would have a spare in my toolbox. I brought the part to Chris, who said "gimme a couple days". I forgot all about it, called a month and a half later and the usual unfriendly "whats your ticket number" response from Chris's wife? I didn't have the ticket with me but how many Chrome 45, 1911's could they possibly have in repair that needed a Thumb Safety Lock Plunge Pin?. She finally finds my repair ticket and I go and get the gun, bring it home and put it the safe. Today, 11/17/23 , I show a friend of mine the firearm, rack the slide and the damn thing doesn't work. Remembering I bought an extra part just in case, i watched a you tube video and fixed the firearm in less than 5 minutes. This isn't the only time something so simple has happened. I'll never go in their store again or ever give them a chance to repair a Daisy BB gun let alone a $2000 collectors item. I don't know how they stay in business!! read more

They may have a good relationship with leo community but I feel like they will completely neglect other customers. I never got a call about my rifle like they said, went to pick it up and it is the same as I dropped it off. Was told the tightened somethings and boresited it. The rifle looks the same as I dropped it off and nothing was loose as I had put loctite on the threads. Leveled and boresighted just doesn't look like it. Complete waste of time. Don't know the quality of the work as I can see no evidence of work Fairly certain I was scammed for $50. Go anywhere else, these guys are not trustworthy. This is a good little shop. I am pleased that they sell new 8mm Mauser ammo for my rifle rather than 1950s surpluss ammo that only works half of the time. I wasn't exactly interested in buying ammo when I first stopped in but I walked away with it anyhow. I guess a trip to the range is in order now. Besides ammo, I took my Mauser into the shop for further identification. I only know it is an older Mauser and nothing more. The owner was kind enough to look at it and try to identify some of the markings. He spent several minutes looking at markings in a book. None of it seems to match what I have. I stumped the gun guy. LOL. He did say it is a nice looking rifle. Most people seem to agree. I still wish I knew more about it. Finding info on an aparently rare gun is not so easy to do. Even for an expert. At least he tried. A word of caution, when you see the sign "beware of dog," it is a big dog. Scared the heck out of me when I first saw it. But it is very friendly. A Great Dane. So this happened to me a few years ago and I never wrote a review but decided to now since a friend of mine went in and also had a horrible experience so now I'm speaking up. This was about 4 year ago I had been going to a local shop nearby regularly and really enjoyed them, awesome guys, very helpful, so one day I come in because my delta ring is too tight and I can't take it off by hand, none of the other guys in the shop can either and they can't find their delta ring tool that removes them. So the owner tells me to go up the street to CCS and gives me the owners card, he says to tell them that he sent me, he'll have the tool to take it off.. so I drive about 3 minutes up Sahara and walk in, put my rifle case on the counter show the card and tell him I was told to come here by -blank- and that he could take care of me, before I even finished talking, without a word, he walks away with the case into the back. So I'm just standing there wondering what just happened.. he's gone less than 30' seconds, then two other guys walk out, one stands right behind me, next to the door with his arms folded. The other stands to my left, and the first guy walks up with my rifle completely disassembled, BCG and charging handle removed, upper and lower separated, and the barrel taken off. Their body language is telling me somethings wrong.. and I'm wondering why they are surrounding me but it's obvious something is up..so he puts my gun on the counter in pieces and the case next to it. So I say, "alright you got it, thank you" he says "yup, that'll be 25 dollars." I say wow 25, really? He says, "we don't work for free here son, that's business" (of course I wasn't expecting anything for free but 25 bucks for 10 seconds and a turn of the wrench?)I was planning on tipping him 5 or something, not to mention, he walked away with my gun without a single word, if he had told me there was a 25 dollar flat charge or anything like that, I would have thanked him and left.. so I'm really not surprised to see all the negative reviews here, and after my friend went in there, a retired CO, he was treated like a complete idiot and bullied around so he of course left and will never be back. read more

My husband took his AR-15 to fix a problem... 5 months ago!!! I know this cause all the time he went to check on it (a lot of times) I waited for him in the car and after the 3rd month I told him "just ask for it and take it somewhere else" but he's too nice for that... so we waited for 5 months... every time he went they would tell him they were working on it and it was gonna take couple more weeks. I'd like to start off saying that I've been into the shop 8-10 times in the last five years or so I just recently had a trigger put in my HKVP9 I love the new trigger and the cost for the labor was $100 which I feel was very fair for how difficult a trigger is on a hk.The owner Chris is truly a nice guy very very sociable if you get the chance to talk to him. I would like to also say that his wife is very nice and knowledgeable , again if you get the chance to really talk to her and get to know her .please keep one thing in mind when owning a gun Smith shop and working on guns there is no room for error there is no room to make mistakes and learn as you go this your life on the line. How is this place still in business?! This place is poorly ran. The guns they have for sale, whether consignment or new, are about 30% above most market advertised pricing. I asked if they could work with me on the price on a bersa thunder. Nope!! That was the answer. The lady that "runs" the store is mostly rude only caring about you if you intend to spend money. I watched her go nuts on someone about clearing a firearm then asking to disassemble it. It was a used gun so I figured he was well within his manners to ask to see the easily reached internals. She went on and then cried about how one time a gun went off in the shop. I guess it was a negligent discharge or something. Now, lets talk about their shotty work. I was originally there to get a model 429 serviced. There was an issue where upon firing, shards of something (bullet fragments I imagine) would fly back and spray you in the face. Well, I let the other owner, previously mentioned owners husband, and he went to work. He had to order parts. No big deal. They were late. Again, I understand. A week after projected completion and several status calls from me to them, the gun was ready. I paid close to $200 to have the pistol "repaired". I took it to the range a week later. Fired the first shot and WHAM! Shard to the cheek. It stung but I made nothing of it until my dad let me know my face was bleeding. Awesome. I called the shop back and was met with disbelief as they had just repaired the gun and would need to charge another service fee to look it over again. I just sent it to smith&wesson and they fixed the issue for less than $100. If you're looking for average smithing and high priced low grade firearms, go here. Their only saving grace was all of the other useless but interesting garbage in their shop. read more

I have been looking for a quality local gunsmith. Chris answered the phone and was very friendly. I explained the problem I was having with my Sig Sauer and he told me to stop on by, which I did. We had a great conversation and he took his time explaining all the potential issues I could be having. I had good luck with these guys after receiving reccomnedations from a few shops in town. They are an old school no nonsense business, but they know their stuff. The work isn't the cheapest in town, but you do get what you pay for here. Had my rifle threaded and a brake installed, and bolt handle extended. They told me 4 weeks, and had it done in 2.5. Work was flawless - everything looked like it came from the factory. I noticed that they tweaked the action a bit to smooth it out even though I hadn't asked for it. No charge. Nice. I can see how people might take them for unfriendly because they are very direct about what works and what doesn't based on their experience, and they may not agree with your opinions. Chris is a big man with a booming voice which may intimidate some people. But they are honest and don't candy coat anything which is refreshing and rare in Las Vegas. If you want someone to tell you you're pretty and give you a HJ, go to Pahrump. If you want good quality work on guns from people who know what they're doing, go here. read more

The owner and gunsmith was also Very friendly and very knowledgeable. He completed the service on my weapon in a timely manner and explained to me in detail the work he performed. Dropped an old model 74 Winchester .22 rifle to get re blued 11-7-2010. Said it'd be $250 and a about 6 weeks. Every 3 months I went to check the progres. Always gave me some bs about being too busy with LVMPD stuff to get to mine. After almost 1 year, I went in yesterday 10-27-2011 and said give it to me I don't care the condition. He still wanted $100. Talked him down to $75 because he did have it re blued. Walked out with a ziplock bag full of parts, the stock, and barrel. I'm done with these people. read more

It's hard to give this place a low rating, and it's hard to give it a high rating. You have to first ask yourself "What am I looking for?". If your looking for a gun store to buy a gun, well good luck in this city. And good luck here. They do not carry much guns for sale. And the ones they do are ridiculously over priced. But on the other hand they do a pretty good job at gunsmithing. Which is what has had me in there a few times. If it's customer service your looking for, well good luck at this store. They have your typical "know it all" older guy working behind the small counter, wearing your standard gun store issue open carry shoulder holster fit with a 1911. From what I've gathered on a few trips there the owners are husband and wife. And I have yet to see any kind of friendlieness or courtesy from her. She seems to be pissed off and inconvenienced every time she helps a customer. And she talks down to the guy in the shoulder rig relentlessly. Which is maybe why he talks down to customers. Just the circle of life there I guess. The gunsmith who I believe is the husband/owner is a very nice knowledgable guy. Every time he has helped me he has done it with a smile and has always done great work. They had another gunsmith in there who they called out front so I could ask a question. I was greeted by a guy with a slavic accent who was stuffing his face with a pastrami sandwich who I could barely understand. And after dealing with the wife/owner a few times I really didnt think it could get much worse. I actually walked out in the middle of trying to decipher his accent and mouth full of food. I have really only had one decent experience here. But all the bad trips over shadowed by the good work they have done for me. It's almost like the agony and extacy. Gotta face one for the other. If you can deal with getting talked to like your 7 years old then its worth getting work done here. But it also takes 3 to 5 days. If not then I advise you shop around. This place just might be worth it if its your end of town. read more

So I made the mistake of taking my gun here. I called and asked if they did deep cleaning and was told "yes we take the gun apart and clean ever piece. Then we check to make sure everything is safe and operational". Think that would be awesome I took my Springfield XD-40 to them. Left it on Friday and understood it would take a few days. A week later on Saturday they say my gun is done. I pick it up at 10 am on Monday and can see the oils on the slide. I get home and check it and still have powder residues on the barrel, springs and trigger. Honesty I believe the oil is from when I myself last cleaned it. Very disappointed but I tried to give them a shot after reading reviews. If you are not sounding a fortune in that shop they just don't care. Good luck to anyone who goes there. read more

This is the only gunsmith in town I'll let work on my firearms. Chris is a walking encyclopedia of weapons history and is one of the nicest people you'll ever meet. His prices are fair and the workmanship is flawless. Despite the other review, Sandra (Chris's wife) is actually a very enjoyable person, once you get to know her. She's a no-nonsense kind of person that doesn't sugar coat anything. I tend to appreciate that kind of personality and very much enjoy talking to her. Highly recommend this place for any gun services. They fixed my 1911 .38 super in under 5 minutes when I had previously taken it to a different gunsmith and he wasn't able to fix it.
