The operator was both polite and very knowledgeable - we chatted for a few minutes about the area (I am new here) and some of the places / things to do and see. It was a complete scam, and I took it as far as I could with the State of Pennsylvania District Attorney and the Pennsylvania State Police. Unfortunately, there isn't anything illegal about ripping the head off of some unexpecting company in an uncontrollable situation. I even reached out to the Pennsylvania Motor Carrier Association who is working on legislation for Predatory Towing such us what happened to us. We originally received a $20,000 invoice for around 1 hours' worth of work. They had a 4-hour minimum with what appeared to be every piece of equipment in their fleet, as well as charging us a $2,500 call out fee on top of the 4-hour minimum. You can't see it in this picture, but Murray's Towing was called by the State Police, but another company actually pulled us out of the ditch. Boots & Franks was the company seen in this picture. For everyone's viewing pleasure I have attached pictures of the incident along with original invoices. They did eventually deduct a little off the $20,000 invoice but it was still highway robbery. I am a student and had to bear the whole repair cost of my car and so I asked for a discount. I got a good discount after talking to the owner but then they reduced it. I understand that repair estimate can never be final cost but still asked if I could get the initial discount just to test my luck in the day of picking up the car. A guy named Alex, I guess the son of the owner said '...we put your shit together here....there are parts, sales tax...so if you want your car today you have to pay xxxx...'. I picked up my car and left. I realized they are not '...that's the best we can do, man. sorry that you have to go through this...' type of people. Also they called me on a random day and gave me 2 days to pick up the car midweek or storage fee starts which felt like an ultimatum. I called the next day to request to withdraw the storage fee and the person picked said he can't because the owner is in vacation. Apparently the customers have to suffer because none else can take a decision while the owner is in vacation. This place is family-owned. I do appreciate the detailed inspection and overall repair, though. But they heavily lack basic people skills and organizational skills and trust me you want that.
