    Churros

Living in Johnston, we don't have particularly any Hispanic, never mind a Guatemalan bakery close by so I'm glad to have this one opened up close by not too long ago. The breads are fresh, the place is a cute small place - tables and chairs to eat if you decide to sit in. But let me tell you about the churros they have here.. *inserts drooling gif here* so amazingly good, fresh and homemade. When you order it definitely can take about 10 minutes or so for you to get your churro but it's worth the wait for a amazingly delicious and hot churro. You can also get it with ice cream which makes it even more amazing! Definitely recommend this place. Great food, great service and best of all - authe

It is St. Joseph's Day. I have never had a zeppola and it's about time I did. So off we went to…read morestand in line at The Original Italian Bakery. The bakery has a small parking lot with about half a dozen spots. A policeman was on duty today to direct cars to the Walgreen parking lot next door when this lot was full, and to let them in when spots were open. As the line of people waiting outside the door to get in was constant, this was very smart planning and much appreciated. Some folks seemed to know St. Joseph's Day was very busy here and had placed orders in advance. These smart shoppers skipped the line and quickly came back outside with their orders bagged up. The line moved pretty well with four shop assistants helping customers. Only about 10 guests, max, fit inside at a time. Once inside bagged breads like sandwich rolls were on shelves while calzone and other meal pastry were in a case. Then, there were three cases full of zeppola. During our visit they had chocolate, pistachio, ricotta and original available. We got one of each. I cut my first zeppola in half and see the cream filling sits all the way down into the pastry. These are firm enough to hold in your hand and bit into. The pastry is very much like that in an éclair. Firm while being light and airy. The original filling is a lovely custard. The chocolate is a fluffy cream base I believe. Both were very tasty. I have two more to try and am looking forward to them. Between these tasty pastry and other items they had for sale there, we'll be back. You should check them out too.

They also give back to the community by donating to schools and worthy causes. I wish I would've taken pictures during my visit, but it was a holiday weekend and it was packed. A good sign that this establishment is definitely worth a visit.

What a lovely bakery for baked goods and cozy vibes!…read more I enjoy sitting down in Seven Stars Bakery every now and then to work remotely. The Cranston location is very well kept, the staff are lovely and there's plenty of space to settle down. I love the open feel of this location with every corner having its own flair. The service for drinks is very quick. This Seven Stars location has such a charm to it - tons of natural lighting and the interior design feels timeless, classic and clean. There's an assortment of baked goods and ample options to choose from. My favorite items are the croissants and cheese danish both very airy and enjoyable with a cup of coffee. There's definitely something for someone. With a family of croissant connoisseurs I always leave with a box filled with these crescent shaped goods and they're just as tasty at home. If you're looking for classic bakery and coffee combos Seven Stars Bakery will have something to give you that morning boost. I enjoy the presentation of the pastries and the overall atmosphere of the cafe - clean, open and the perfect place to be productive. Seven Stars definitely deserves their name!

*GLUTEN-FREE ALERT*…read more I'm just now learning what a Guatemalan quesadilla is & I want one every day for the rest of my life. Thankfully, we have Cafe Ava for that. A Guatemalan quesadilla is sorta like a cornbread or a pound cake or a piece of actual heaven. It's got a thick but soft texture, it's a little bit sweet & a little bit savory, & it's topped with sesame seeds. My mouth is watering just writing about it. Cafe Ava makes their Guatemalan quesadillas with rice flour, so they are gluten-free. GLUTEN FREE PERFECT LITTLE PIECES OF HEAVEN. Anyways, I know where I'm going tomorrow for breakfast.

After ordering my child was fussy and I went back up for a chocolate chip, banana bread muffin. The empanada was so good. I loved the guava and cheese combo. I never knew they paired so well together. I also really appreciated the flakey salt added. I also had The Goat with turkey bacon added. That was also so good. I love goat cheese and I love avocado toast so it was a great pairing. I snuck a bite of my son's banana bread muffin and that was also so good, I really liked how there was a good amount of chocolate in the muffin. The Banana Bread latte is a seasonal special apparently. I think that is a HUGE mistake. It should be a year round drink. Superb. No notes. I NEVER finish my coffee. I drank every single last sip. Easily in my top five favorite coffees. I truly hope this makes its way onto the menu. I will absolutely be back!
