Very disappointed. The store prints thousands of coupons published on the menu at the Big Texan restaurant for a free belt buckle with a purchase in their store. My daughter collects belt buckles and we made a special trip across town to shop at Cavenders. But it was apparently just a gimmick to trick people because they couldn't find a single belt buckle in the store that they would honor the coupon for. read more

Good discussion with Amber from Cavendars after I posted this review. In all fairness she really listened. We've been going to this store for years, and will continue to do so. I was just "up to here" with the service and wanted this to have a positive outcome. It was an epic fail last Wednesday and couldn't be ignored. They need to train salesmanship in their staff. Shasta introduced herself, said if we needed help to let her know, and then disappeared! I had to "clerk" the hang and rehang of suit jackets for my husband, then we had to hunt down dress shirts. Shasta popped back up (possibly thinking we were ready to check out?) while we were searching for belts. Keep in mind we might come in here 2 or 3 times per year...she had a "are you stupid? Look on her face and said "they are RIGHT OVER here! And then disappeared AGAIN!!!! Finally got to the register and cashier said "anyone helping you?" I said "no! Are you kidding?" No comment from cashier, who should have said , gee, I'm sorry, if there was a problem please let me fix it...or...what can we do?" If she gave a commission to Shasta on our 330.00 purchase I will be so disappointed... Keep in mind we are all fallible and constructive criticism is always helpful. You can find just about everything you need here! I couldn't believe the inventory of jeans!! It was a little tough looking for my size because there were so many. I wish they put the taller sizes on top and the shorter sizes on the bottom. I don't understand why all the clothing stores do this. It makes sense for taller people not to have to bend down looking for sizes. Shorter people have less distance. The staff was friendly and helpful too. The changing rooms were comfortable and roomy. More hooks to hang clothes on would be helpful. I would have liked a larger selection of dusters, but they had everything else. They even gave military discounts! read more

Their boots and western wear are top notch and the staff is so helpful and full of knowledge that you owe it to yourself to stop here when in town. I took my hat in to get shaped. After looking for someone to help me for a good 10 minutes, the 1st sales associate to greet me took my hat and began. I quickly realized he didn't have a clue what he was doing. I left with my hat looking like a mess. It is a 20x resistol and not cheap by my standards. I have shopped in Cavender's for a long time. They have a lot to choose from but their customer service is very lacking. I went into the store looking for a pair of high waisted flared jeans. Since they have thousands to choose from, I wanted to ask a female sales associate to give me some direction. I could not find one girl anywhere to help me. After trying on about 10 pair and none of them being what I wanted, I decided to just give up on the mission. I made a quick trip to the restroom before leaving the store and there were 6 girls in the break room. No wonder there was nobody to help as they were all on break at once. I went over to Boot Barn where I was helped immediately and she picked out 4 different styles of jeans that were high waisted flared. I tried them on and left with 2 pairs. If you want a big selection but no help, especially in the women's section, go to Cavender's! read more

Nice store. Clean and nicely organized. However, i came out empty handed. First, older gentleman sales associate pestered me. I asked him after the 3rd time to please allow me time to look. Then all of the ladies department is geared for small perfect size and measurements 20-30 somethings. No blouses or tops for "real" size women (size 12) with curves. I was really apprehensive to try on jeans. I felt "followed around" which made me walk out the door empty handed. If your a young cowgirl or cowboy, this place is perfect. Healthier middle aged women, you need to go elsewhere. Sad, because I was ready to dump a lot of cash in there because I like the cowgirl look. read more

We asked if they offered MILITARY DISCOUNT, and the reply was," Yes, but it's too late to apply it, because you've already been rung up, but we appreciate your service." the employees are obviously hourly and not commission. I've been in sales 25 years, I know what good service is. we were in the store 30 minutes before anyone even greeted us. my wife bought boots, shirts and a belt. self serve. right before we checked out she wanted me to try on some Oakley sunglasses ($150-200 sunglasses mind you) in the locked counter. 7 employees (sales people) were literally standing within 4ft of us. 5 in a group talking at the counter and 2 on the other sides of us. we were looking at these glasses at least 5 mintes with my wife asking me to try them on. I said I can't the case is locked. not once did any of the 7 ask to help us or even unlock the counter. I could've asked but purposely didn't to prove my point. I told my wife I woudn't buy them here now anyway. we checked out and left. upper management needs to teach the "sales" crew about service. especially the young ones. terrible. it's apparently social time for all of them. read more

I was a huge fan of Canender's until recently, I bought a pair of Ariat boots for my daughter's 25th birthday. They didn't even last 2 months before a seam let loose. They have had them for 3 months now without a word, so I called them for a status update and was told "it's normal wear and tear". We had a wonderful experience at Cavenders. Went in while road tripping through Amarillo looking for a pair of cowboy boots. The saleswomen was kind and friendly and would periodically check in on me while I shopped the ladies section. After making a selection she helped me to get the best fit for me. If your new to western wear (and even if you're not) I'd definitely recommend coming here. They'll guide you to the right fit without being to pushy or condescending. They do check in on you frequently to see if you need help, if you don't simply tell them you don't and they'll be on their way with a smile. I'm hoping to fare better with this review than I did with the last two. I dunno if it was because it was an outta-town review or because I didn't drop 10 F-Bombs and make poop and fart references. It's time to up the motherfucking ante here, ok? God, I am such a poseur. Really, I should be publicly flogged and made to feel intense shame. Small children ought to point and laugh at me as I cry tears (of a clown). I'll get back to this though. On a recent trip to Santa Barbara, my companion and I decided to take Historic Route 66 on our way home to Chicago. Highly recommended by the way. Somewhere around Gallup, NM we got it into our heads that we were cowpokes. Driving a noisy, diesel-powered Suburban through the desert while eating chile picante (con limon!) flavored Corn Nuts for days on end will mess with your sense of reality. By the time we hit Amarillo, we had the hats and gosh dog it we needed some damn boots to go with. Cavender's is the Bloomingdale's for ranch hands. Upon entering the establishment we were immediately greeted and assisted by a clean cut gentleman in starched Wranglers. Any woman with a semblance of a cowboy fetish would have gladly jumped him on the spot. After ushering us to the men's boot section he said, "My name's Chance, just lemme know if y'all need help with anything." CHANCE! Chance. That's almost as awesome as "Duke" or "T. Boone" or "Stetson." The boot selection was so impressive. It took me about half an hour to narrow it down to the Right Pair. And they're real beauts, I tell ya. But not only can one get boots here, there's everything from lassos, lariats, saddles, full Western wear, knives, hats... you can even get a haircut and a shave in their mini-barber shop. So back to my being a raging poseur! The whole time I was kind of expecting to get laughed out of this place. My obnoxious accent would NEVER allow me to belie myself as a girl born south of the Mason-Dixon line. I could see a Pace Salsa commercial erupting at any moment. "This stuff made in New York City!" While in Amarillo, Texas, my sister suggested we go to this store as I was thinking about buying a cowboy type shirt. This store has every thing you could want in the way of western wear.. It's a large store and many items were on sale. I bought 4 shirts and a jazzy expensive western belt. They had a $1,000.00 Stetson hat, but I was able to resist. I went to Cavender's yesterday, Sunday 18th, 2011, with my husband to get him some flame retardant jeans and the store was very busy with Christmas shoppers. With all that was going on, we had AWESOME, personalible, customer service. You know, the service you just have to write about!!! My experience at Cavender's today was excellent. The pic shown are not the boots I got. I wanted a square toe type. Greeted to hello's as soon as I walked in the store. Walked over to the mens boot area and started to look around. One young super salesman (34333), I forgot his name, asked me one time if I needed help. I said no and he let me be and I looking looking at the boots. After about 10 minutes of looking I asked a question or two and the young man answered all my questions. I had a limit going in of about $250-300. He helped me with a couple boot styles but could not find my 12D size in the color I wanted (dark cherry or Burgundy). He offered to show me a pair of Lucasse brand, I have three others and I know they are not cheap, a great boot but on the high end. I did like the style and color, went ahead and tried a pair and I was sold. They got me. They fit like a glove.I had to order the color I wanted which I did. Was told that the boots will be mailed to my house in California. Overall experience and awesome and was impressed of the store, everything was neat and in its place.
