I traded in a lemon I bought from a used car dealership for a very lightly used 2014 Mazda with a full coverage warranty a few months ago and since then we have had to take our "new" mazda in as much as we had the lemon that was only $5,000. This 2014 Mazda is costing me 4 times as much payment a month and the same amount in repairs. Nice staff though, if you want a smiling face to screw you over this is the place to go! Oh not to mention I am still paying out of pocket for repairs because apparently a "full coverage warranty" doesn't cover everything. We have purchased several vehicles over the years, and this experience was one of our best. You can get the vehicle you want almost anywhere, but it was actually a pleasure to do business here. From the start, we requested correspondence via via email only from several local dealerships and Randy Padilla in the Internet Sales Department was the ONLY one that did as we requested. Everyone else bombarded me at work with phone calls, which was very frustrating. When we arrived at the dealership to look at a vehicle we inquired about, we went on a test drive with the General Manager, Ron Boyd, who we enjoyed talking to. We finished up with Ricky "Happy Feet" Griffin to do our initial paperwork and answer a few more questions about the vehicle. He also did a ten minute or so introduction to the technology features in our new ride while we waited to complete our financing paperwork with Mark Baillio. I have been over for service a couple of times here for my Mazda 3 and the staff is always friendly and efficient. They removed a nail from my tire at no charge. Just got an oil change and they threw in a car wash at my request. One of the best things I like about them is that they don't try to upsell you or upcharge you for things you don't need. Let me just start off in saying, I have NEVER EVER had a customer service experience in my 27 years of living in any business, let alone the car industry, treat me the way I was treated here at this dealership!! They were the most amazing sales team I have ever encountered. From the phone call letting them know about my dream car, the Touring CX-5, all the way to the drive off the lot was something nothing short of perfection, honest. Lindsey took my call and what I wanted in my car deal over the phone and upon arrival had my numbers, EXACTLY WHAT I WANTED, with the EXACT CAR I asked about. No gimmicks, no back and forth, I told her my budget and she did exactly that - no question. While we were getting everything together the finance manager that helped me, like the finance Yoda, got me in and out, with a WEALTH of knowledge, and kept me laughing and happy my entire visit. This place is everything people do not like about car dealers. They prey on our lack of information and default write you up for higher priced items rather than discussing your options. Fortunately for me I actually wanted synthetic oil. There is a $30 difference between synthetic and tradition oil change service. The young lady who wrote my service ticket automatically defaulted to this. I've been to other dealers that do not do this. They also offer you service options that are triple the cost of what your owners manual recommends for the standard service. Most of the things they claim are "added services" are really just looking at something and not even resolving the issue if there was one. I would drive further away for a service department I could trust to present me options. Just needed to get it done at this moment so I went here. read more

Wow... where to start. First they totally cheated me on my trade in and it broke my heart I knew better than that. Literally 2 days after I traded in my car it was on the used car lot right near the dealership For 4000 more than what they game me (yes it was my car I checked the VIN) now I'm having issues with the car I purchased. The day we purchased it we noticed one of the rims looked discolored. They said they were giving me a new one. They did (at least I thought) now the top coat to the rim is peeling off and it looks HORRIBILE!!!! We have been going back and forth with them for a month now, really not back and forth because it's just me contacting them and them never calling back. We went there one Saturday for them to take pictures but the service department closes at 2pm!!!! So if you work mon-fri and need later hours in sat this isn't the dealership for you. I'm so upset that I pay almost $600 a month for a car that looks like crap. read more

Going to a car dealership is not one of my favorite things but after having my van for 13 years, we decided it was time to get a new car. John Langowski was our salesperson and he was very knowledgeable about the cars and was not pushy in any way. He listened to us and helped us get a car in the parameters of our budget. Mark in Finance was also very good and patient. There are not a lot of salespeople just milling around waiting to pounce. We purchased a used 2009 Chevrolet Traverse from this location. We should have known the service would be horrible since when we bought the car we had to wait 3 days to pick it up because it wasn't cleaned prior but I really wanted it so we went forward. We have taken our vehicle here twice since to get our complimentary oil changes and the first time we went they forgot to reset our oil sensors to show that our oil was at 100% which isn't a huge deal but shows to their lack of attention to detail. We took it a second time and they said they would fill all of our fluids. Well when we got it back my car fan was blowing even after turning off my car. We couldn't figure out what was going on and got very worried. Then the car was overheating and the air conditioner quit working all within a week of having our "oil changed" at this location. We did some further inspecting on the car and noticed that I was totally out of coolant. So they didn't fill all of our fluids. These may be tedious things to some people but they truly caused us unneeded stress and I will never purchase another car from here nor will I recommend this place. read more

I am so thankful for Cavalier Mazda. They took care of us. Initially we were in the market for a gmc terrain because it was within our price range but we quickly became drawn to the 2016 mazda CX9. It met all of our wants and needs for space and extra seating. Me and my husband had been calling around prior to see if any dealerships were going to come down on price. No one wanted to budge because they were flying off the lots as soon as they got them in. So we took our chance with Cavalier Mazda, because it was apart of the auto buying program through our bank.Before arriving we scheduled an appointment to come and check them out. Upon arrival we were greeted and welcomed, and we were told that Mike was going to take care of us. We both test drove the CX9 and it just felt like it was what we were looking for. The experience was beyond something we could ever experience with a product specialist. He was professional, he showed sympathy, he could relate, he had a good sense of humor and understanding. After test driving we fell completely in love with Mazda CX9 but became a little worried that it did not fall under our price range. Mike said don't worry, we are going to maximize your savings as we had a trade in as well. He did his part after about 45-50 minutes of appraising our car, looking at their inventory, checking to see what they had coming in, etc. He came back to us with a figure that was comfortable for us. At that time we were appalled and filled with excitement. We could not believe our eyes. He put us in a rental until our vehicle arrived 2 days later. Even after we received our vehicle, we contacted Michael again because we lost our EZpass transponder from switching cars. He got back to us and found it. He went up and beyond his job to make sure we were not only happy but more than satisfied. He possessed superior customer service. This is the type of customer service i rave about because it is very rare. Most times its about getting our money but Michael never made us feel that way. He made us feel at ease, comfortable, and relaxed. We appreciate the whole staff at Cavalier Mazda for the warm welcome and quality service. read more

I have been looking for a used SUV or truck for a few months when I spotted a 2009 Honda Ridgeline at Cavalier Mazda. My wife and I went over to take a look and we were met by Josh, he was friendly, knowledgeable and very easy to deal with. He went over the truck with us, showed us all the features and let us test drive it. After the test drive he suggested we look at other vehicles in our price range. He showed us several others, but again just to give us some options. We liked the Honda Ridgeline so much that he allowed us to take the truck overnight, the next day we purchased it. Here's where Josh excelled, he was able to get us several items we wanted thrown in with the deal. Our experience with Cavalier Mazda and Josh deserves six stars! Absolutely worst service I've ever seen in my life. I had an appt to have my vehicle appraised and test drive a particular truck. They called the day before to confirm my appt and I agreed. They even said 3 days prior if the status of the truck changes they will give me a call. I drove 43 minutes to view this truck and when I arrived it was absolute chaos. The salesman I had the appt with had no clue who I was or why I was there and they sold the particular truck I was supposed to look at. They didn't apologize for the trouble they caused. I left and called the manager and he sent me to voicemail. He still has not called me back. I wouldn't wish my worst enemy to shop there. Absolute snakes read more

A Great Cavalier Experience! Went shopping for a mid-size SUV. Compared and test drove a Toyota RAV4, Honda CRV and Nissan Rogue and Mazda CX-5 (also tried a few of the larger SUVs). They are all pretty good, each has their strengths and weaknesses, but I felt most comfortable with the Mazda CX-5 (I think it is the 2.5 liter engine that seems, at least to me, to give it a little more powerful acceleration. And I liked the body style/look). We visited Hall Nissan and Hall Mazda, Checkered Flag Toyota/Honda and Cavalier Mazda. Of the four dealerships we visited, Cavalier Mazda in Chesapeake was the best overall for customer service and ease of shopping (Checkered Flag was a very close second, Hall Nissan and Mazda were not very good experiences). The great experience with Cavalier started off with their website, which was easy to use. Looked for cars I was interested in, picked some, then submitted a trade-in quote request. I immediately received an email response, then an invite for an appointment to see the car. I took the appointment; when I showed up at the dealership, someone immediately greeted me, took me inside, looked up my appointment info, and then asked me a few questions about what I had searched for. They had some cars already waiting for me. They took me out and showed me all the features of the car; a complete walk-around and then a detailed description of the features inside. We test drove and I made a decision. They offered me what I thought was a very fair price (I compared it to buying service prices and the other dealers I'd visited). It seemed like prices were pretty consistent across dealers, but honestly, it was an easy decision to choose to buy at Cavalier because I was so impressed with the customer service. Easy going, polite, no pressure, honest recommendations based on my preferences. They took care of all the paperwork quickly and with no problems, called my insurance company for me to get updated cards, took care of plate swaps, cleaning out old car. Buying a car at Cavalier...an easy, pleasant experience. Can't say enough good things about Michael B., who is a great representative/salesman for the company, the finance/paperwork folks were awesome and the sales floor manager, Mark S., also was very helpful. I took my car to get serviced here. I went to get my CMU replaced in my vehicle for my radio. Costly repair might I add. Repairs were done fairly quickly. I arrive to pick up my vehicle and the vehicle wouldn't start. I hadn't had any problems with my vehicle prior to dropping it off. I go back in to let Mike the service advisor know it won't start. He proceeds to to get someone to check the battery and all of sudden I need a new battery. He tries to feed me some BS about vehicles needing batteries in 4 or 5 years. While that may be true, not for my vehicle. So you mean to tell me you drained my battery to the point where it couldn't be recharged and I had to get a new on a 2016 Mazda 6? No something was definitely up with that BS. VERY crappy service. Unplanned expense at its finest. I will never in my life bring my vehicle back to Cavalier Mazda for service. In a world where customer service has gone by the wayside, I shouldn't be surprised that your sales manager was not too concerned that we purchased a BRAND NEW CAR this week and when we drove it off the lot there were instantaneous issues. So the car has now been in their hands and we have yet to enjoy our new vehicle. All we got from the sales manager was, well we are fixing it. You're right you are because it's a brand new car. There is a major communication downfall between the sales and service department and are allowing new vehicles to be driven off the lot with known issues they aren't fixing. If you are thinking of using this dealership, I wouldn't recommend it. Can't wait until that survey comes! If we wanted a broke car, we would have bought a used car. I never had a bad experience with a Mazda dealership regarding customer service until today.(4/11/15) I was out of town stranded on I-64 because of car trouble by this location and they did not make a great effort in helping me in this unfortunate event. They offered me service two days later on Monday which would not have worked considering I was in town only for that Saturday. I know Mazda puts pride into customer service and I don't think this situation met the mark. So in an event of an emergency I would consider this review before going to Cavalier Mazda. read more
