Definitely recommend trying this restaurant, it's basically chipotle but for Mediterranean food. I came here for lunch in between work calls, and I was served super quickly. I went with a build your own, but there are preset meals that you can order. I started with half brown rice and half lentils. And then you can pick your protein and add a ton of vegetable toppings on top as well as a dressing. The staff we're really patient as I took my time to build my bowl. Cava is basically the Mediterranean version of chipotle. They have great salads, bowls and sandwiches. The best is the honey harissa chicken bowl. CAVA is my go-to "fast food," the variety of taste and fresh ingredients is solid for a place like chipotle! I love how they serve pickled onions! This particular location is lovely, staff is super friendly, the line typically does not get that long, even when it is it goes fairly fast. This location is in One Paseo shopping center with lovely outdoor seating, it's also located near some offices so it can get busy around lunch time. CAVA is very clean inside. Not super easy to always get a parking spot in front of CAVA, sometimes you have to go to the parking garage, depending on time of day parking can be hit or miss. read more

If I could give a ZERO star I would. I went in today to order two bowls. The staffs that were there were dead beats that hate their lives. The white boy making my bowl LITERALLY GAVE ME DROPS as a scoop. I mean DROPS NOT EVEN HALF. When I had asked for more he said it would be extra and proceeded to give me another drop. Keep in mind their scoopers are already small and he gave me a QUARTER's worth of the scoop not even half. And he did this with everything and i had to repeatedly ask for lil more and get the sane response of paying extra. I don't mind paying but what am I even freaking paying for if its not even a regular normal scoop quantity. And I noticed that my boyfriends bowl and everyone else was getting the regular scoop. I had mention to the staff and ask why I was getting shorten servings in my bowl. The boy replied " they are running low and trying to make it last" so you're telling me that i have to pay extra and get charged for a bowl that isn't even receiving normal company portion standard. It's carlsbad this is ridiculous. I've gone to La Jolla location many times and their service is 10x better than this place. The manager was not even able to be spoken to as they were out of "bags and receipts" so the manager had to go get pick it up at a different location. This just shows lack of responsibility of staff and poor management. But you expect me to pay $50 for 2 bowls and these ridiculous extra charges. And this isn't the first time at this location either. I'm so over it and this needs to be said. I contacted corporate as well. Hopefully, they get new staff with better training and people who actually has customer service etiquette and a manager that is present and KNOWS how to manage a proper team. Finally got to try out Cava!! My east coast friend has been raving about this place so I finally decided to give it a try! Came here for lunch today with my cousin and we both got the green and grains bowl with spinach and saffron basmati rice. For sauces I got tzatziki, hummus, and feta. For proteins I did half and half chicken and beef meatballs! I wish they gave a better portion of chicken because it was really yummy! For toppings I got feta and cucumbers and crunched up pita chips and dill sauce on the side. I was really impressed with how filling the meal was! CAVA's a good Mediterranean food chain that I've seen on downtown streets in other cities and never got to try until I met up for dinner with Yelp friend Karen N. Good luck finding parking for this shopping center, especially around peak dinner time (looking for a spot in the garage is a time waster; I ended up parking in the mall across the street and crossing over). The place itself is easy to find and there's table and bench seating both inside and out on the patio. Even if there's a crowd, it goes relatively quickly since you verbally build your bowl/plate/wrap down the line until paying at the register. Karen & I got Greens & Grains bowls and my companion got a Falafel Pita. I chose Braised Lamb as my protein and enjoyed the choices of dips and dressings, as well as the flavored iced tea options. If I lived closer to a CAVA, I'd try to make frequent visits, but for now if I'm ever in the area again I'll keep this place in mind to dine at. read more

I had to try this place because I've been seeing so many TikToks that looked so dang good! It did not disappoint. I went to the mission valley one on a rainy day. It was packed! Probably a good sign so I waited hangrily (hungry + angry because I'm so hungry + verb) and it was so good. I got a grain bowl with Saffron Basmati Rice, Tzatziki, Harissa Honey Chicken, Shredded Romaine, Tomato + Onion, Pickled Onions, Fire-Roasted Corn, Persian Cucumber, Crumbled Feta, Kalamata Olives, and Garlic Dressing drizzled on top. It was amazing. I also got the pita chips and they were so good also! Inside the restaurant it was packed so I didn't sit down but it could have been a little cleaner. There was dust on the clear acrylic that divided the patrons with the yummy food. Also, for a few minutes while we were waiting in line it smelled like stale cigarettes but that could've been a maintenance person cleaning outside since the doors weren't shut because the line was out the door. A friend introduced me to Cava during the summer. Since then I went back to the Mission Valley location another time and then recently to the Carmel Mountain Ranch 3 times recently. I was bringing different people to try it out since I thought it was so good. The food has been great every time. I love the options. The staff is always friendly and helpful. I believe that we are supposed to get a small piece of pita with our bowls but I did have to remind them 2 times and one time I forgot. So maybe we are supposed to ask for it? Or maybe I am wrong. My only complaint is the tables are not always very clean and the last time I went, it was filthy. Not one clean table. I cleaned it myself which I don't mind when it's busy but it wasn't. I have always heard and practiced when I was younger in food service, "if you lean, you clean". They were leaning but no cleaning. My friend and I sat and chatted for quite a while and nothing got cleaned. The trash was also overflowing. It was disappointing and not a great look. But it won't stop me from coming back. read more
