Turns out, not only has Panini stopped giving pita bread, they stopped offering rice too! No more is there rice and pita bread offered with your shish kabob order. Prices have soared and customers receive less and less. So when we called asking where our rice was, Panini charged $50 extra AND we had to go back and pick up, even after it was initially ordered. Not happy with their food quality either. Chicken was stringy and chewy, koobedeh was cold and bland. All 2 trays of chicken, one tray of koobideh and Panini gave two salad trays and forgot our rice!! NO remorse. No apologies. Wishing for the good days when food was fresh, tasty, hot and served with great customer service. I tried the cucumber refresher as well, which was okay, but it had a noticeable tap-water taste that made it less enjoyable. What bothered me most was the service. When our server asked if everything was okay, I politely mentioned that there was very little chicken on my plate. Instead of acknowledging my concern, offering an explanation, or trying to make it right, he simply walked away. Why ask how everything is if you're going to ignore the answer? Unfortunately, I left feeling like I basically paid for a plate of rice. I was full, but mostly because of the mountain of rice, not because I received a satisfying chicken shawarma meal. Next time I'll branch out, but this first sample provided much pleasure and evidence that they can't do anything wrong (except be closed when I'm craving more ;) A few minutes after placing my order the warm flatbread came out with butter. Comparatively, many other Persian restaurants use Lavash sections, so I enjoyed the contrast. The neighboring table of four received their plates one at a time, so I figured the kitchen and grill were probably also fairly constricted like the lobby. Nonetheless, it didn't take long and the generous, colorful portions were a sight to behold! The first thing I noticed was how moist and tender both kabobs were. Not burnt or dry anywhere on either type. That's attributable to the elevated method of grilling, but here the chef has it down to a science. The second observation came later when I didn't feel excessively thirsty, or bloated, ir dehydrated. Some restaurants really brine the meat while marinating, but here it's another level of perfection. Good service and a reasonable price, although the menu prices might be behind current food costs.
