This USED to be my one of my favorite go to spots in the Gainesville area. The food is always pretty good, and the service is great! We usually come here 2-3 times a month and bring all of our out of town guests to try it too. One of the things that really makes my dish stand out is the hot harissa vinaigrette, however, the last two times that I've been here it seems that they've changed their recipe. Now, the texture is more akin to a marinara sauce with a not so great taste and completely takes away from the taste of the dish. I couldn't even eat the last bowl that I'd gotten here because the sauce was just disappointing. I opted to get it on the side this time, still not the same sauce I had grown to love. One thing that I truly appreciate about food spots is consistency. I thought I came on a bad night, but it seems like all good things are coming to an end with this Cava location. Basically it is a "Chipotle-style" Mediterranean restaurant with meat, vegetarian and vegan options available. The food was fresh and delicious. The last few times I've been here the food has been pretty bad. We did curbside today and waited 15 min in the front spot. The pitas tasted like they were stale and the my husband paid for double meat and his bowl was Barely filled up. He said it didn't taste bad but for $13 it was like half full. The service in this place had been getting on my nerves for quite sometime now. I always compromised and was killing rude personnel with my kindness. However, this time broke camels back. I asked for kid's meal for my 6 yo. Asked for spinach and rice. The lady serving asked another girl in Spanish and the girl gave her permission with a lot of hesitation. Then when the plate came to protein, I requested for carrots instead of protein. The gentleman who was at the protein section started a conversation in Spanish with the same girl. Keep in mind I don't speak Spanish and don't understand what they are talking about. This girl then says: 'it's not me, it's my manager who doesn't allow any substitution for kids meal'. I had enough of this bs. I said to her that if it's easier for you dump it in the bowl and I will pay. She says that it's $11. I said I don't care! She walked away. They ended up charging me for extra rice and kids meal. Why not stop me in the beginning when I asked for rice and spinach! Tell me that kids meals don't have substitutes and let me make a decision there and then! Instead of making me go down the line and give me so much shit about every single selection in the language I don't understand! My first time going to this Cava was an all around 5 stars. This was the best bowl I've ever had from the chain. The staff were young, some obviously new. It was so yummy I took my family there the next day.... We ignored the fact that the employee threw the lettuce back into the bin after she grabbed the wrong one. The lunch time staff is a completely different group of more mature ladies with chips on their shoulders. What did it for us is at the end of the line, where you add your sauce. A young male was wiping down the counters. He takes a metal spoon, drags it along the counter & scraps the excess feta up then tossed it back into the bowl of fresh feta! Cava is the downgrade of chipotle if chipotle was a vegan catastrophe. The service is not great and they always having trouble hearing your order even if you yell. The worst thing is that it is NOT clean. You'll find food everywhere. The food isn't great but it is not the worst food I've ever tasted. There is more food choices around there like MOD and Mission BBQ. Everyone I talk to says it's the greatest restaurant but from my perspective the place is not up to my standards. :) read more

This is likely one of my least favorite Cava locations, while the quality of the food is good, they consistently get my order wrong, from the wrong toppings to mixing up my wife's order with my own to leaving items off the order all together. I have ordered from here for the past 4 years and only in the last year has it gotten consistently worse to the point I am leaving a review. I cannot remember a time in the last 2-3months where they have gotten my order correct. We stopped for a quick pickup before a road trip. Two greens and grains were ordered, half chicken / half potato and half chicken / half falafel. I immediately noticed the quantities were about 1/4 smaller than other CAVAs but we were in a hurry to get out of town. Also, it was clear at least half the crew was in training. When I got to the car I noticed I was charged for extra chicken on already small bowls. I took the receipt in to get a refund for the extra chicken. The manger wanted to see the bowls so I went back to the car and brought the food in. She held them up to weigh them in her hands and said the charge was correct. This made no sense and it appeared she wanted me to pay for something that I didn't order. Eventually she agreed to refund the charge. Our quick stop ended up being a big delay and the chicken inquisition was unpleasant. read more

The staff is friendly and courteous and frequently scanning the store for anything that needs attention. Some things to keep in mind: on the weekdays, the lunch crowd can get pretty thick (remember the scarce healthy food options in the area?), so order ahead or come a little early; if ordering in line and you plan to take your food to go (or know you'll have leftovers) let the first server know so they use the compostable bowl rather than the washable one. read more
