Went here again for lunch but this time opted for the rice bowl with chicken. IMO, this is a much batter value, because you get a ton more. I added all the spreads except the eggplant one and added lettuce and feta cheese. It was very very good and pretty healthy. My only drawback is the chicken has dark meat in it, not all white meat. I'm sad that my experience here wasn't like so many others'. My falafels were soggy and not very flavorful. I also thought the cucumber topping was a little soft for my taste. I probably should have gotten meat, because that's what everyone raves about in my office. The basmati rice was really flavorful, though. I love this place. I've been twice so far and plan to go every Thursday when I'm in Bethesda. For $17, my boyfriend and I can eat all the Greek we can handle, and still have enough for lunch the next day. You get a lot more food if you order the bowl, and then just get a pita or two with it for 75 cents a piece. I just found out you can mix your meat and get half of one and half of another, which is exciting! I've had the chicken and falafel, both great, and pretty much all the toppings. Food is delicious, price is awesome, and so far lineups are not bad at all. I kind of hope this place doesn't catch on, cause if the lines become like Chipotle's, I might not be able to come anymore (or at least not as often- the walk right in, get my food and leave aspect is one of the best things about this place). read more

The staff was extremely friendly to my toddler and I. I was having a hard time deciding what to get him and they were very patient and helpful with recommendations. They didn't' have as many toppings as Amsterdam Falafel Shop in Adams Morgan, but Cava's pita tasted better than that offered at Amsterdam Falafel, in my opinion. Food is pretty good and fresh here. Fast service. Only thing is that sometimes there customer service is lacking. I placed an order online through the CAVA app and the store didn't get my order. My account was charged and I received an email confirmation but the store couldn't pull it up. Which is fine, things happen I totally get it. Wasn't mad at all. But I was upset my bowl was made last after everybody in line (about 4 or 5 people was in line). I was on lunch break and every min counts. Luckily he made my bowl pretty fast but didn't offer a drink or something while I waited. It was just an inconvenience. I expected better and have experienced better from this location. The only reason I am giving this place two stars is because I generally am not a fan of this type of food. I've been eating most of this food my whole life since all four of my grandparents were off the boat from Greece, so I may be reviewing Cava Mezze Grill coming from a slightly different perspective than many other reviewers, but I've reached the same conclusion - I love this place. Even though we live ALL the way across the river in Arlington, my girlfriend and I make sure to visit once a week because we're hooked. I've tried almost everything on the menu, but I almost always order the lamb. If you like lamb, it's delicious - very well prepared. If you don't, this probably won't sway you. The chicken is also generally very tasty and well-seasoned, although it can be a bit inconsistent. The falafel, meatballs, and loukaniko are all somewhat weaker offerings; none are bad, but they also don't stand out. The loukaniko in particular lacks most of the flavor of real loukaniko, instead tasting more like "regular" sausage/keilbasa. The dips and spreads are all excellent. I particularly love the crazy feta, tzatziki, and hummus, but not because the others aren't just as good, they just aren't to my taste (I wouldn't like eggplant or harissa anywhere). To summarize - whether you love Greek food or are just trying it, Cava Grill is well worth the stop. Oh, and I should mention the consistently friendly service, reasonable prices, and eco-friendly operation (everything they use is compostable). Great place if you want something quick and need a change. I usually get the chicken pita with all the fixings. I love the harissa sauce. It will clear your nose in 2 minutes flat.I say pile it on!! It's usually busy for lunch but the line moves rather quickly . I give it only 3 stars because if you go later in the night the quality of freshness may vary. Used to come to Bethesda just to eat here. The sauces and dips are amazing. It was like the Chipotle of Mediterranean food. Quality has been greatly reduced since they opened. Wow, angry and poorly trained employee! Went for a quick bite after movies on Sunday night. My family was shocked to encounter such poor service. The food was OK, but the women serving food were openly rude to all of us. Example, at the register, while one of us was not finished with her order, and the woman instead of finishing taking order just turned away from us to her her colleagues to discuss some issue. Then she proceeded with us but with no apologies and rather with angry attitude that we somehow were in a way. Also, the lentils were undercooked. I would have mentioned it to them but I was afraid to "bother" them as I don't like to confront unfriendly people. We won't be back. read more

Went to Cava last night after trolling the Apple store for a bit. Agree with others that I thought I was in Chipotle at first - but Chipotle is the bomb IMHO so I was pleased. Tried the savory chicken with rice and hummus & red pepper eggplant spreads - very tasty and good value to boot. While the Chipotle investor in me is worried about all of the copycats I'm seeing lately, I welcome the narrow focus on healthy ethnic foods made from quality ingredients. read more

I really like this place - I have had lunch here at least 5 times. It's a nice alternative to Chipotle. I usually get lamb or beef with rice, harrisa, tzatziki (sp?), hummus and 2 or 3 of their "salad mixes". It's simple fresh food on the go that is flavorful and should leave you full. I'm not sure what there is to complain about...beware of the line during lunch. it will go out of the door. but the staff is quick and nice. read more

Cava Mezze Grill. What a delight. The Mediterranean equivalent of Chipotle; this place is definitely a must visit. My only gripe about this restaurant chain is that it doesn't have a location in a suburban area. Regardless, I loved my lamb/chicken combo bowl and I would definitely visit to eat again (if I was ever hungry and in Bethesda at the same time). My only wish is that the restaurant would do a better job keeping its food warm when the business is slow, so that when anyone were to visit during its down hours, they wouldn't be served cold meat. read more
