    Veggie bowl
    Kruti M.

I'm not a huge fan of CAVA, but my friend is so we decided to pick up a veggie bowl. It was mainly her meal, but of course I took some bites here and there. She let me choose one dressing and I picked the tahini caesar. I wasn't expecting anything great because I find CAVA to be mediocre at best, but decided to get something new this time! And thank God I did because this tahini caesar is game changing especially with the falafel. Honestly, I could take the whole container like a shot. It's less like the typical caesar dressing and more so tahini, but there are hints of caesar within. *caesar salads are my favorite, so I might be a bit bias. If you aren't picking this as your side dressing, you aren't doing CAVA right.

Couldn't order on their website either.

Their app and their website were buggy and not allowing orders so I had to go inside. I really wanted curbside. Revising the overall score because the lentils I ordered in the greens and grains bowl were completely uncooked. Imagine biting down on hundreds of tiny hard pebbles. I couldn't finish it. I didn't enjoy it. The employees were friendly and attentive and the inside was clean and social distancing markers on the floor and contactless pickup shelves off to the side.

CAVA is a great fast casual because it offers real choices. You can get a bowl filled with just about whatever you want. There are many different choices for both grains and greens, and you can mix them (lentils are a "grain", which helps add variety). The dips and spreads you can get in stores are excellent, as are some of the fresh and rotating toppings. They are very good at falafel, but also have a veggie option if you want that. It's easy to be vegan or gluten-free without sacrificing. It's also genuinely fast and online ordering is available; the convenience factor is high. This location did miff me a bit; my bowl just didn't seem quite that full (especially compared with my neighbor's), and I realize they didn't offer me a mini-pita for free with my bowl, which I think they are supposed to (some clarification on that would be great). Again, I only even noticed this after someone sat down next to me with a pita and I started wondering where mine was; maybe you do have to pay extra for it. Also, something in my bowl-I think it was the couscous-was a bit dry and crunchy like it had been sitting out too long. Still, I got a lot out of that bowl, and I've been to enough CAVAs not to sweat variations in service too much. I expect a bit better if I'm in the area again.

The service was very good, the staff was nice.Plus the food delicious. I will most definitely go back to this location

Quick service for pick up, they handle the busy lunch rush in the area well. I recommend the Shkug dressing if you like a little spice.

From the pictures and videos I've seen, the place looked quite stunning and I wondered how it fit into the very busy downtown Bethesda. When I finally had a chance to show up, it all made sense. Everything is in a giant basement and of course lovely. The bar really is the centerpiece of the floor, being able to seat dozens of patrons. And from what I was told, the other rooms are used for special events. Hilariously enough, I have not had their food yet, but their drinks have been excellent. Whenever I swing by I happen to already be full from dinner, haha. They have a happy hour that goes until 7:00 on the weekdays they're open, which includes both food & drink. Sooner than later, I plan to return to try out some food. Shout out to Doug!

It wasn't busy and there were not a lot of waitstaff and 2 bartenders. I think there were maybe 20-25 people. Our waitress was good but it did take her awhile to come and check in or get us drinks, etc. She did correct the $20 up charge for the steak and eggs I ordered - $42 when menu was $22. Yeah, I caught that mess. Food: Ok, so in my last review, I was quite tipsy and the flatbread I order was SOOOO good. I was excited to try the food again while sober. Totally different experience. The steak wasn't seasoned much. I had a pretty decent size steak but a friend ordered same dish and his was thin and had a bit of fat he had to cut off. Chef even came to apologize, comp the dish and brought out chicken and waffles for him. Good on chef for fixing the problem but for the future: if 2 people at the same table order the same dish, make sure the main is equal to save yourself from having to come to the table and have a little pow wow... Overall, I think brunch menu was limiting, average offerings and overpriced. I'm so disappointed in Bethesda dining experience. I've been to 2 brunches and both were ok and tbh not worth what I paid for. I live in NOVA and there's a lot more offerings at better prices. MD do better please. I have to cross the river...you own traffic isn't fun.

The Spanish cheese (Mahón) along with the crackers and mustard sauce was superb. All the meats had their own characteristics and unique flavors but the jamón stood out to us the most. It even went well with the sauce that came for our cauliflower dish. It was fun piecing the components together to make unique tasty bites. I would come back just for the charcuterie alone. The drinks we got were Angelli's Ferrari along with the espresso martini-ish. My favorite was definitely the Ferrari one, but the espresso martini was super mild and had a slight coffee flavor. Good for people who like very light coffee. The Ferrari one was very bright and had lots of fruity notes to hide the alcohol. For entrées, we had the shakshouka, crispy, cauliflower, and brunch pork belly. Out of all these the cauliflower was definitely my favorite; super light with good earthy flavors and nuttiness and acidity from the lemon. The brunch pork belly was good too. The meat was perfectly cooked, but I found the beans to be a little bit overwhelming. I'm not a fan of baked beans personally so that might've been my fault for picking the dish, but I still did enjoy it and the pork that was well cooked made up for it; definitely for someone who likes beans. Shakshouka was very hearty with a lot of tomatoes and red vegetables in general. If you like lasagna or any sort of tomato spaghetti dish, you will like this one. I found this to be a bit much though. I was slightly tired of the flavor at the end. Just be aware it is a bit spicy. We had a pear tart for dessert. Honestly, it reminded me of an apple pie and it was good, but I think that some of the other desserts would've been a bit better. Had a lot of sweet cinnamon notes along some crispy flaky dough from the outside. It was an interesting take but it was still good. The atmosphere is great here; we had seating on the second floor, so it was different from the busy first floor. Very relaxed and there's a lot of natural light coming around which made everything feel very welcoming. Our server was also super friendly. I will definitely be back at this place

We sat outside on the patio and it was a gorgeous day. The decor is perfect and I love that they've added plants to cover the staircase. Drinks were delicious and the food came out quickly. Our water glasses were rarely empty. Service was kind. Food wise if I were to stack rank I would say the hummus is the best of what we ordered. The pita bread is thick and garlicky and oily and massive. The croquettes would be at the bottom of my list simply because they're dissimilar from any I've had before and a little bit underwhelming. The tuna was fresh but it's a small dish and not much to write home about. The lamb skewers have a subtle kick to them and they're pretty substantial. I'll definitely be back to try more! Highly recommend on a warm summer day as you're covered by the canopy above, if you're looking for a rooftop vibe.

Good variety and not too many options. There's meat, veggies, and seafood. I'm uncertain whether they can specifically modify any dishes for vegan. - Quality. Delicious. My trout was nicely filleted, well seasoned (not overly salty), and the skin was extra crispy. It was served over a bed of celery, potatoes, and cauliflower that were tender. Their shoestring fries were not overly salty and were nicely crispy. Their seasonal dish of grilled shrimp with their barley salad was also very flavorful. The shrimp were well-seasoned and a nice texture (i.e., not overly cooked/rubbery). The profiteroles were sweet, but not overly so, and had a nice amount of chocolate sauce drizzled over it. - Service. Excellent. Our waitress was attentive and checked in on us within decent time intervals, refilled our water glasses - Location. Conveniently located within a plaza with many different options. You can walk around and check out other shops, as well. During nice weather, there's supposedly outdoor seating. Their tables don't appear to be able to seat parties in the double digits. - Layout. Inside layout is not decent, but not expansive. There are a fair number of booths and tables. I've been told that the provide outdoor seating when the weather is nice. Given the limited seating, I highly recommend making reservations. What's Not - Acoustics. Terrible inside. We could barely hear the wait staff who talked to us. We had to ask her several times to repeat the information she gave us Sound carries very easily inside, especially when it's full. - Parking. There is parking in the area, but depending on the day you come, it can be difficult to find. Given that I was there during on a Sunday afternoon, it was difficult to find parking. The nearby outdoor lots were all filled and street parking was difficult to find. Fortunately, my friends told me about a parking lot at the nearby Porsche dealership, which was not costly and is well-automated. For about the 2 hours I was there, I paid under $4 total. The Porsche parking lot is also able to read your license plate. - Cost. To be fair, it's going to depend on what you order. When you combine drinks, any seasonal dishes (and the wait staff did not tell us the cost of the seasonal dishes we ordered), and dessert, it's a fair amount. - Reservations. Definitely recommend making reservations, rather than walking in. Final Answer Would be willing to come back here again, but probably not a first choice.

A large wine list that they know back to front and can recommend wines from based on your food choices and personal tastes. An elegant but not ostentatious interior. But first and foremost, incredible food. There have been a few items I was unsure of when reading the descriptions, but I have always been blown away by the thoughtfulness and balance that comes with each or their dishes. Of note, their seared scallops that came with a savory and sweet white chocolate sauce were one of my favorite dishes of 2025. Not to mention, the prices here are reasonable and not unnecessarily inflated like other places that market themselves as wine bars. I hope the success here signals a shift in the wine bar model toward unpretentious but thoughtfully designed dishes for a reasonable price. Overall, Little Blackbird is an incredible restaurant that I think deserves more recognition. I will certainly be back soon.
