Tried CAVA for the first time today and honestly, I get the hype now. I walked in with zero idea what I was doing. I even asked if I was supposed to pretend I was at Chipotle and build my bowl like that. The staff laughed with me, not at me, and really guided us through everything. They let us taste different meats, explained all the options, and the portions were very generous. They kept up with my humor the whole time and were super respectful, which I really appreciated. The manager was also incredibly kind and covered our drinks, which was such a thoughtful gesture. Food just hits different when you are served with kindness, and today proved that. Coming from Northern California where we do not have CAVA, this was the best introduction I could have asked for. If you are in the area, definitely stop by. I don't usually write reviews unless I was exceptionally pleased with my service and I have to say that since the Cava restaurant in Bethesda got a new manager, I love coming back here whenever I visit. It is always freshly made and still warm. The food choices are also great my favorite right now are the harissa chips, YUM! I never have to ask if my order is ready and the staff is friendly. She let me choose one dressing and I picked the tahini caesar. I wasn't expecting anything great because I find CAVA to be mediocre at best, but decided to get something new this time! And thank God I did because this tahini caesar is game changing especially with the falafel. Honestly, I could take the whole container like a shot. It's less like the typical caesar dressing and more so tahini, but there are hints of caesar within. *caesar salads are my favorite, so I might be a bit bias. Revising the overall score because the lentils I ordered in the greens and grains bowl were completely uncooked. Imagine biting down on hundreds of tiny hard pebbles. I couldn't finish it. There's a group of workers including the manager standing there and not acknowledging me so I gave them a minute to finish talking and the manager comes over towards the register and still doesn't acknowledge me so I said hey I'm here to pick up. CAVA is a great fast casual because it offers real choices. You can get a bowl filled with just about whatever you want. There are many different choices for both grains and greens, and you can mix them (lentils are a "grain", which helps add variety). The dips and spreads you can get in stores are excellent, as are some of the fresh and rotating toppings. They are very good at falafel, but also have a veggie option if you want that. It's easy to be vegan or gluten-free without sacrificing. It's also genuinely fast and online ordering is available; the convenience factor is high. This location did miff me a bit; my bowl just didn't seem quite that full (especially compared with my neighbor's), and I realize they didn't offer me a mini-pita for free with my bowl, which I think they are supposed to (some clarification on that would be great). Again, I only even noticed this after someone sat down next to me with a pita and I started wondering where mine was; maybe you do have to pay extra for it. Also, something in my bowl-I think it was the couscous-was a bit dry and crunchy like it had been sitting out too long. Still, I got a lot out of that bowl, and I've been to enough CAVAs not to sweat variations in service too much. I expect a bit better if I'm in the area again. read more

Cava is always a good decision. Also, I have to recount this absolutely absurd story from this Cava location... In the summer of 2022, my husband and I walked into this location and happened upon a verbal altercation. We were not sure what was happening at first, but there was a guest berating the manager. The manager was calm and composed and was politely asking the patron to leave. The guy screaming was well dressed, mid 30s and was screaming, "how do you think I feel, how does Cava feel it has the right? You're nothing." It was the type of situation where, had I filmed it, the guy would have been cancelled and lost his corporate job. Then, swear to God, this dude turns to the manager and yells, "how dare you! I'm from Bethesda I'm very rich! My father's a lawyer! He'll sue you! He'll sue you for a lot of money!!" It felt like we were being punk'd by Ashton Kutsher himself. At this point my husband stepped forward and said, "excuse me, I'm not sure what's transpired here, but whatever resolution you're looking for, isn't going to happen, so you need to leave." Keep in mind, this is a Cava. I can't imagine what scenario on earth would ever cause anyone to raise their voice to the lovely people working there. They guy eventually storms off. And we're left to speak with the manager who kept his cool but looked visibly shaken - how could anyone not be? He then tells us that this lunatic is a regular who had been so routinely rude and nasty to the staff that the owner had allowed the manager to refuse service, and this guy exploded when he was asked to leave. The moral of this story is the staff at this Cava, and this specific manager, are lovely people who have unbelievable amounts of patience. This manager deserves a raise. If you ever see another patron disrespecting a staff member at any restaurant, speak up! read more

I usually enjoy visiting CAVA for a quick, healthy meal, but my recent experience at this location was disappointing. The employee who helped me seemed visibly annoyed from the start. He rolled his eyes multiple times during our interaction, which made the experience uncomfortable and unwelcoming. Every time I asked a question such as "can I pay with two separate cards?" He'd roll his eyes and scoff as if it was the dumbest question. I understand that everyone can have an off day, but as a customer, I expect at least basic courtesy. The food itself was up to the usual CAVA standards, but the customer service really took away from the experience. I hope this was just a one-time incident and not reflective of the overall service at this location. The lady working was kind and helpful. Kinda upsetting when one person brings down the whole experience. I come here because it's one of my favorites and it's right next to my job but I don't think I'll be returning due to the hostile environment. Wouldn't recommend ordering online since they have frequently gotten my orders wrong, including recently where they straight up messed up my order twice. Parking kinda does suck over here, But on the lighter side of things, food was great! Staff was pretty friendly and this particular location kept things running smoothly and kept the restaurant tidy the whole time I was there. They didnt look like they would pressure you into hurrying up and making a decision on what items you want to put in your meal. After all, it is your money, so I dont understand why other restaurants would do that and look at you like you're stupid. This Cava location is definitely one of my favorites. This Cava Grill is located on Bethesda Avenue, across from a garage. Parking can be a hassle at times in Bethesda, but you have either garage parking or street parking available to you at this location. Just remember to bring change with you to pay for meter parking on weekdays or you can download the parking app MobileNOW! The food here is great, comparable to multiple locations I have visited in the DMV. Customers order a base, dips (up to 3 included with purchase), protein, toppings and dressing. I usually order the following: Base: Brown Rice Dips: 2 scoops of Harissa and 1 scoop of Roasted Red Pepper Hummus Protein: Falafel Toppings: Pita Chips & Quinoa Dressing: Spicy Harissa I definitely recommend adding a drink to your order, their seasonal juices and teas are delicious. I recently had the Pumpkin Apple with Agave and I drank about 3 cups of it (free refills btw!) This location loses a star because I have noticed that they really skimp on your base. Whether I order greens or brown rice, the staff usually doesn't give me much. Other than that, the restaurant is clean and staff are polite. Updated: 10/10/2018 I came to this location on a Wednesday night and had a TERRIBLE experience. I was selecting the ingredients for my bowl and at the very end I requested Spicy Harissa as my sauce. I eat at CAVA at least once a week so I know what Spicy Harissa looks like... the staff member squirted a different sauce onto the bowl and I pointed this out. He said he can just put the Spicy Harissa on top. That is not the bowl I requested, so I declined his idea to add the sauce on top. He then said "Well you need to go remake your bowl." There was no apology, only a nasty attitude for the mistake that HE made. I would have been fine with an "Oops, my mistake! I am sorry!" I am disgusted by his terrible attitude and will avoid this location going forward whenever possible. Fresh food, fast service. It's what I love about CAVA. I was in a bit of a rush, but wanted to have a healthy (but still quick) lunch. My salad was prepared to order in about 60 seconds and I was able to sit down and actually enjoy it. I ordered my usual: Splendid Greens, arugula, brown rice, 2 tzatziki, 1 hummus, falafel, and all the toppings. YUM! If you are not familiar with CAVA, it's a similar concept to Chipotle except it's Mediterranean inspired. You build your own bowl or wrap of wholesome goodness. The base options includes grain, lentil, or a motley of greens to chose from (mixed greens, arugula, etc). There are all kinds of proteins to add except seafood. In addition there are a gazillion topping and sauces to deck your creation with. The possibilities are endless. This is a good lunch option for vegetarians/vegans. They also have a fun assortment of flavored drinks to try, like blueberry lavender, pineapple apple, etc. they're not very sweet as well, which I appreciate. read more

I've heard of Cava before because I buy the packaged tzatziki from them at Whole Foods, but haven't had the opportunity to try their fast-casual restaurant--until now! I got a bowl with half of the super greens mix (I think that's what it's called) and half black lentils. I also got a wide array of toppings and condiments, of course one of which being the tzatziki. I really enjoyed my bowl. I also really enjoyed the pineapple, apple and mint juice. It unsurprisingly tastes like the pineapple, apple and mint juice by Blueprint but better. I don't really come to them types of places expecting phenomenal service, but I felt like I was being rushed to order when it wasn't even busy at the time I was there. They also overcharged us, making us have to rectify the receipt and receive a refund. I understand that it's important tomake the food and serve customers quickly,but I don't think itwould hurt to slow down j'ust a little to ensure the accuracy of the order. read more

I love cava, and I didn't use to have issues with this one, but recently it's become unacceptable. The food tastes great, but the portions have become so unbearably small. I paid $12 for my food and it was barely half full. This is very upsetting because I feel they are being stingy and I'm getting scammed. Not sure if all cavas are like this but this one is particularly stingy. Like come on! $12 for a half full bowl is unacceptable. The space is nice and clean and the workers are neutral. This is a Mediterranean version of Chipotle. My experience here is pretty much the same as my Tyson's Corner review. Pick what you want: in a bowl, pita, or salad, protein, sauce, veggies, etc. I like this place. It is fresh and not greasy. However, it is more expensive than Chipotle and they give you less. If you do not get full from Chipotle, than you will most definitely not get full here. You can add on more rice and protein, but that will cost you and it will end up costing the same as a full entree elsewhere. read more

DELICIOUS!! a great place to come get your meal. plenty of dining space and SO delicious and healthy for a build-your own! we got the greens and grain bowl with brown rice and lentils and supergreens salad, falafel and chicken (you can do half and half or choose one protein), and tzatziki and red pepper hummus (you can also do half and half), tomato and onion salad, radishes, olives, seasonal spicy lime tahini dressing, with a side of lemon wedge and topped with pita crisps (SUPER fried and crispy, so be careful when you bite into one in your huge spoonful of food). seems like a TON of stuff, but man, everything is super diverse and PACKED with flavor. there are SO many options, so many combinations you can do, and all their produce is local and fresh and delicious. you can definitely pick up their sauces/hummus at whole foods as well. i would definitely come back for a good protein packed meal for a good price. this is the same style as chipotle. chipotle shouldve trademarked this style of customized meal restaurant because cava did an AWESOME job to keep it delicious and easily customize-able and seems modern and fancy for a quick pickup. there is street parking and ton of shops and cafes nearby. great place to walk around! read more
