I am looking forward to going back after my first bite. Everything was full of flavor and fresh. When I let the staff know it was my first trip they were very helpful explaining all of the options. I tried several of the fresh juice option but I really enjoyed the Pineapple Apple Mint. There website does a good job explaining options but the iPhone app is worthless. This is a great addition to Bethesda Row. They've been here for a few years now, so they've really hit their stride. I love any location that uses the Chipotle method of ordering cause it allows me to customize without being annoying. I looove their harissa and crazy feta. Their tahini sauce needs a little bit more tahini flavor but it's still good. My favorite protein is the braised lamb. Amazeballs. The spicy lamb sliders are also good, but a bit drier. I basically get everything from the toppings bar and throw some pita chips on for good measure. It's really quite a great place to grab a quick, but delicious meal and the best part is that you can make it as healthy or as unhealthy as you want. read more

What an EXCELLENT addition to Bethesda! I came here with a friend last Friday evening for dinner and it was Bumpin!!! The service is very similar to Chipotle, where they have a counter you go up to to order exactly what you want. You can get either a pita or a bowl. I got a bowl with basmati rice with hummus, taziki, harrisa, cabbage, tomatoes, lettuce and delicious falafel! It was an ENORMOUS amount of tasty flavorful food. AND it was less than $7!! My friend got the same thing but in a pita, and she said it was terrific! They also serve beer and wine. The service was excellent and super friendly. This place is pretty big with lots of seating but on a Friday night, it's really busy. Will definitely be back for lunch very soon! read more

I'm obsessed. This tends to end up as a post workout meal for the bf & I. There aren't too many healthy options out there after 9pm, but CAVA is open until 10pm. I always get a salad (mixed greens) with tzatziki, crazy feta, spicy harissa, falafel, tomato & onion salad, cucumber, feta, cabbage salad, diced cucumbers, and pickled onions. Oh my gosh, it's just so good! There are so many different flavors in it, so I tend to opt out of any dressing. The watermelon mint juice is my favorite! If they don't have it, my second choice would have to be the lemonade with a splash of blackberry sage. My only complaint about this location is that all of the employees kind of have a staring problem. Like, at everyone. It just gave off a weird vibe, but I could care less since I love the food. read more

This place ROCKS--I've been a few more times since my first visit and now I know how to do it--just don't get the kale lettuce mix. Now I get romaine and pretty much every topping available (tzatziki, red pepper hummus, crazy feta, pickled onions, chickpeas, olives, tomato/cucumber salad, etc.) and it is filling and fresh. I really enjoy the food here but I was disappointed on my most recent visit. Both my boyfriend and I noticed that they were very stingy with toppings. They have great pita bread but it seemed to make up most of my pita. I don't have too hearty of an appetite and this was too little for me. Stopped in for lunch this week, and it did not disappoint. It can be best described, as others have, as a Chipotle-style set-up. You pick the style of meal you want (pita, rice bowl, salad, mini-pitas), and then you select what dips you want. The eggplant-roasted red pepper was particularly delicious. All of the filling options looked delicious; we had the lamb sausage and the lamb, and both were very flavorful. After that you move to the garnishes, which offers a variety to choose from, such as cabbage salad, cucumbers, cucumber-tomato-onion relish and feta cheese. The amount of food was just right for a hearty, but not overly filling lunch. I really enjoyed my meal here, and can't wait to go back. read more

I described this place to a friend as a Greek Chipotle. I ordered the falafel bowl and was confused that you could put up to 3 dips in it. This is basically a Greek version of Chipotle, and I say good on Cava for using that model. You order the same way you do at Chipotle, but instead you choose a pita, or bowl, or salad. I ordered a pita with ground beef, crazy feta and some fixings. The ground beef was very well cooked and had a lot of flavor to it. The crazy feta had a strong taste of, well, feta, but it also had some sort of pepper in it that made it a little spicy (but not too spicy!). I really can't remember what veggies I got on top, but they complemented the two bases well. The pita is served like a taco/burrito hybrid, and with a drink it cost about as much as Chipotle, maybe slightly more. Overall a great "fast casual" addition to Bethesda's restaurant scene. read more

I always get the same thing: Pita with tzatziki, crazy feta, and harissa dips. 4 falafel balls, lettuce, tomato cucumber, tomato onion, pickled onions, feta, and the yogurt dill sauce. I tried the sriracha yogurt sauce the last time i went ANDDDD it was amazing!! everythign is always fresh and delicious, reminds me of chipotle but Mediterranean style. sooooo delicious and affordable! I worked til 7 tonight, 10.5 hours and only a bagel for breakfast. I was kind of hopeless since I have eaten everywhere in Bethesda at least 9 times. I thought I'd settle on Chicken Out. So I walk down Bethesda Avenue and the Out is CLOSED!!!???? So I think, OK, Tara Thai will be a good fall back position, even though I had pad thai 3 times last week. Then I see this new place, Cava. I was nervous. It did not look familiar at all. I went in and was promptly greeted by about ten friendly and helpful staff members. They fixed me a pita and pita chips and dips whose names I would only insult the Greek of the world were I try to spell. It was all soooooo delicious! I was greeted on my way out by seemingly top management. They helped me sort my trash. They are green friendly. I will definitely tell everyone in my office how good it was! read more

I enjoyed this place! I went in knowing it wouldn't be like the full Cava restaurant, but didn't know what to expect other than that. It's basically like a Greek version of Chipotle, but better. You choose your base (pita, rice, or salad) and your meat (or non-meat option) and toppings. The server recommended the chicken and lamb to me, and made my pita with half of each so I could try both. I loved the chicken, and the lamb was pretty good, but not as good as the chicken. The toppings were all fresh and tasty. I'll be back! read more

I've been to the one in Tyson's before and enjoyed the experience. I really like the options of selecting your base: pita, rice (white or brown), or lettuces. What I like even more is that they use local products which makes me feel good as a consumer. I like the concept of creating and building my own entree, there's just something appealing about that. There are so many choices and it can be overwhelming and even downright hard to choose. The behind the counter people seemed real patient with my questions on ingredients and I appreciated that. Besides the build a bowl, you can just order sides such as dips, falafel, and meatballs. They even served wine which is way cool. I ended up with rice, lamb meatballs, and everything else like the hummus and sauces on the side, which are put into ramekins. This was my first Cava experience and I absolutely loved it! The concept is identical to Chipotle where you build your own: salad, rice bowl, mixed bowl, pita, or two mini pitas. Once you pick your base you add on the dips & spreads (up to 3) I personally loved the Tzatziki, Hummus, and Crazy Feta. After the spreads you pick your protein, I was recommended by the super helpful woman working there to choose either the chicken or lamb meatballs. I chose the chicken and it was amazing (tender and flavorful). After you pick your protein you pick as many toppings as you want and then finally you choose the dressing, I opted for the Yogurt Dill, but everyone else seems to get the Spicy Harissa. The food was delicious, cheap, and the customer service was great! I can't wait to come back again. read more

i ordered a pita with lamb and got a side of chips and hummus. the guy rolled his eyes when i ordered the chips and hummus as if it was some crazy request. the chips were hard instead of soft pita as it should be and the hummus was way below par. already amateur. i took one bite of the pita and couldn't eat any more, absolutely the worst lamb i have ever had, and i love lamb. it was fatty, chewy and just tasted awful. if you like this place im guessing your not really into food... read more

This is as good as it gets, as far as fast food goes. Mediterranean/Greek meals (falafel and grilled meats) with creative, tasty European ingredients, such as red onions, feta cheese, harissa, and more. The concept is similar to Chipotle but the food is MUCH better, healthier, and WAY more delicious and flavorful (I hate Chipotle with a passion and strongly dislike Latin food). I'm very happy I discovered this gem, but I have to subtract 1 star for the stress-inducing location; Bethesda is always extremely busy and parking is a nightmare, even on weeknights. And it may be hard to get a seat. This place is always full of loud tweens and their parents, which is annoying. Nonetheless, despite the crowded environment and difficult parking, I visit this location once a week. It's one of the very few high-quality options in the fast-food category. read more

Decent food, but NOTHING is labeled. So you watch person after person go to each station and ask what each thing is in the containers and listen to the employee repeat it over and over. I asked the first person why the items at her station were not labeled and she unfortunately didn't speak enough English to understand. The next guy did speak English and said that's what he was there for. Love the concept! This is probably more of a 3.5 for now. Great location and cute place. The falafel is a bit diferent than what I am used to but still good. Love the sauces and the veg toppings. The mini-pitas aren't the best because they are hard to pick up with any toppings. Also, they were a little skimpy with the feta cheese but that's OK. I think they ought to have tahini as an option though (I mean, tzatziki is not a falafel pita mainstay). Although it's the same basic idea, Cava Mezze Grill takes Chipotle to a whole new level. There are so many options and they are all SO good. I started with the pita and topped it with roasted red pepper hummus and harissa. If you get nothing else from this, know that you must get the harissa. It's a little spicy, but it's SO good. It will make anything taste better. My boyfriend started his off the same way, but he got the braised lamb and I got the falafel so that we could try multiple things. Both were very good (and the falafel was a nice veggie option), but we both agreed the lamb sliders are probably the way to go. We've had them before at Cava in Capitol Hill and they're amazing. I think we'll probably just go back to what we know next time we go. After picking our proteins, we both went crazy on toppings, because...why not? You can get as many as you want! I got the tomato and onion salad, tomato and cucumber salad, lettuce, pickled onions (which add great flavor), a little feta, and some more spicy harissa. The combination of flavors was great. Cava Mezze Grill offers a remarkably well-flavored, healthy lunch for two for $15...who can complain about that? read more
