$8 slice of Peanut Butter Pie, It's probably 5 -6 bites.

This was a 5 star review until I got home and saw how tiny the $8 piece of peanut butter pie is. Although they do have outdoor seating for anyone with dogs, it seemed like we would be an afterthought sitting there so we left the pups in the truck and went in to eat. They have lunch specials that are very reasonable. Hubby had the 8oz sirloin with a side and endless salad bar for $18. He was very happy with the steak (and everything else). I tasted the steak and it was nicely seasoned and cooked perfectly. I had a CFS with a baked potato and it was very good for $12. The portion was a decent amount but not overwhelming. We got fresh hot dinner rolls before the meal and they were like warm airy pillows. Very good. Our server Caitlyn was friendly and eager to please. And the place was very clean. I would definitely go back and just skip dessert.

Tony Vanoy & I had late lunch early dinner at Cattleman's Steakhouse in Morehead Kentucky today after hiking at Broken Leg Waterfall & Peddlers Mall. Tony went with a plate of 4 cheeseburger sliders with fries and a large Bud Light Draft. I went with Soup & Salad with half Cut Tea lemon and lime...my usual!!! Our waitress was extremely nice!! They were very busy with Mother's Day Groups, Graduation Groups, Interstate Traffic & local diners...but it wasn't bad!! I loved the Beets & cottage cheese on the salad bar. I also ate pineapple & peaches with some dried cranberries. My soup was Creamy cheesy potato very good Highly recommend you to stop!! $46 with tip & taxes!!! Her tip was 25%

So the restaurant itself is comforting. Even when it's busy you never feel encroached upon. The staff is friendly. The Legendary Salad Bar is well stocked and very worth the money. The White Fish platter was very refreshing and filling, large fillets. My only complaint stemmed from one visit where I ordered Prime Rib (Medium) and it was well done.

    Served on dirty plates!

I ordered the grilled chicken wrap and fries. Originally, I wasn't going to get fries but when I learned that it's fried in beef tallow, that was an instant change of mind. So glad to learn that not all restaurants use terrible seed oils. I got my food to go as I was in a rush to hit the road, but the food came out fresh and delicious and I would definitely come back here in the future and sit down next time. The service was quick and friendly, and the ambience inside was very casual and inviting. Definitely a wonderful lunchtime experience for me and I plan to return.

We ended up here because there was too long of a wait at Cattlemen's…read more We were a group of 5, 4 adults and 1 child. The hostess asked if we would be ok with a table for 4 and a chair at the end which wasn't a problem for us. So the group behind us got seated. Then the next group. About 5 minutes later we were seated at a 4 and a 2 top pushed together. We were seated with 3 menus for adults and a child menu, with 4 place settings. When the server greeted us and took our drink order we asked for another menu and place setting. She bought the menu quickly. We placed our drink order, 1 was a half and half tea with lemon. An unsweetened tea was delivered and rather than send it back there was sugar on the table. When the server came for our dinner order, lemon was asked for as well as the other place setting. One of the orders was for Cajun shrimp and rice with a side of sweet potato casserole. When dinner was delivered we asked if we could have that other place setting which was finally brought. The shrimp on the menu says that it's 2 skewers of shrimp. This was 5 shrimp when it was delivered. At this point we just wanted to eat and figured that we weren't coming back and really didn't want to complain. The child ordered the kids Mac and cheese. It was cold so he was given the sweet potato casserole to eat. When the server came back another sweet potato casserole was ordered. When everyone was done eating she came back and said that they were out. I really don't think any of us will ever go back here. I'm only giving it 1 star because I have to at least give one, otherwise I'd not give any. I wish that we had taken a picture of the shrimp dinner to post. Apparently 2 filled skewers of shrimp is 2 1/2 shrimp per skewer. And it's also a premium price.

It was conveniently located right off 15, and despite the meh weather, the place was easy to spot largely because there were a lot of cars in the parking lot - a compliment to the restaurant and its food, or the only game in town? Based on our experience, probably a little bit of both. Definitely does have the roadhouse vibes; it's very spacious and kind of dark in there, with a bar to the right of the entrance and the vast majority of the acreage dedicated to a large dining area on the left. We were seated immediately and after the meal took advantage of the cool map situation by the bathrooms where, if you requested a pushpin from one of the employees, you placed it on the map to show where you came from. Already oodles of NJ representatives on there, which is unsurprising. The random North Dakota pushpin was a bit of a shock, but I guess they travel too. The menu was pretty large but I was immediately drawn to the Fried Catfish w/ Hush Puppies entree, along with the tater skins app, which our waitress went out of her way to compliment. The Catfish was decent; as you can see from the accompanying picture, it was a huge portion and I took a sizeable chunk of it to go (where I think I eventually threw it out because it's not really road trip friendly). Coincidentally (or not, given where we were in the country) I'd had some hush puppies the night before at a hotel in Blacksburg, VA, and these were better. Those others were over-fried but also had mac and cheese stuffed in them, so these basically had better texture but not as much flavor. The mac and cheese was a real low point, unfortunately. Not dissimilar to the hush puppies, they were super tasteless and a bit watery. They had a bit of breading/crumb topping, but it really didn't do anything to improve the situation - definitely something for them to work on. The taters were just okay; usually the issue with them is that they're in the deep fryer for too long (which is not an issue for a lot of people, I suspect), but these I thought actually weren't cooked enough. The interiors were a little tough so the potatoes could have used a little more time in the oven or fryer. Service was solid. Our waitress was very nice and happily contributed her thoughts/opinions on different items of the menu, which my chum loves to seek out when we're in a new, unfamiliar place. I was starting to get a little tired by this point in the day so it was nice to have efficient, quick turnaround times for everything. The prices were decent as well, which probably isn't too surprising given that we were still pretty far away from Lexington and other, more populated areas. This was fine for what it is, and my preference is always to go local when you're traveling through small town USA in lieu of the chains. This wasn't incredible, but we enjoyed our time here and left a literal physical reminder of our time here with the aforementioned pushpin.

I'll give you 20 top reasons this is why I believe this is Ohios best steak house : 1. Darren welcomes you with such casual hospitality that five minutes after sitting down you start wondering if you've accidentally been adopted. 2. The Scioto Ribber is so unpretentious that if a New York food critic walked in wearing a $3,000 suit, the steak would still be the most impressive thing in the room. 3. Some steakhouses sell atmosphere. The Ribber sells steak and lets the atmosphere happen naturally. 4. The menu has less ego than most restaurant owners. 5. The steak arrives looking like it just won a bar fight and a beauty contest on the same day. 6. Every bite tastes like somebody figured out how to barbecue a memory. 7. The char-smoked flavor is so unique that if you served it blindfolded, half the table would think they were eating at a ranch in Montana and the other half would think they died and went to beef heaven. 8. Fancy steakhouses spend millions trying to create authenticity. The Ribber accidentally has it. 9. The wait staff are professionals disguised as neighbors. 10. The service is so genuine that when they ask how you're doing, it feels like they actually want the answer. 11. Other restaurants train employees. The Ribber seems to raise them correctly. 12. The place has more Ohio character than a Reds game, a church festival, and a Fourth of July parade combined. 13. Some restaurants are experiences. The Ribber is an institution with mashed potatoes. 14. You don't leave feeling like a customer. You leave feeling like you attended a family reunion where everybody liked you. 15. The steaks aren't cooked. They're respectfully introduced to fire. 16. The outdoor wood-fired grill does things to beef that should probably require a permit. 17. If a steak could earn a blue-collar PhD, this would be it. 18. The flavor isn't subtle. It walks up, shakes your hand, and tells you exactly where it came from. 19. Most restaurants want to impress you. The Ribber doesn't care. That's why it does. 20. The value is so good that halfway through dinner you start looking around for hidden cameras because surely somebody forgot to charge enough. Bonus Five : 21. Darren runs the place with such affection and quiet pride that you get the feeling he'd rather lose money than let a guest have a mediocre meal. 22. In an era where every restaurant wants to reinvent dining, the Scioto Ribber has spent decades perfecting the radical idea of serving great food by great people. 23. The steaks have more smoke than a political debate but leave a far better taste in your mouth. 24. This isn't just Portsmouth history. It's Ohio history with a baked potato. 25. The Scioto Ribber proves that you don't need valet parking, mood lighting, imported marble, or a sommelier named Sebastian. Sometimes all you need is wood fire, great beef, hardworking people, and an owner who treats guests like family. The two blonds behind the bar are so sharp that hemophiliacs have to file a restraining order The Scioto Ribber is what happens when Americana, hospitality, common sense, and a wood-fired grill get together and decide to show the rest of the restaurant industry how it's done.

What has happened to this restaurant?…read more This used to be our favorite steakhouse to visit, and we would drive a good distance to get here. The service has been on a steady decline for about a year, and our most recent visit was the most disappointing so far. The rolls were overbaked and dry, and they came out dark brown with no shine from butter on top. We didn't even finish the basket, and the small plates had uneaten rolls. The salad bar was stocked and clean, but the ranch dressing was watered down, and some items, like the chickpeas, looked a little off. The service was the biggest issue. Our server was surprisingly disrespectful. I wanted a small portion with no leftovers and planned to order a kid's meal, since there is an option to eat as an adult meal for an additional three dollars which would be a good addition to the $9.99 salad bar which usually leaves me too full for a regular entree. Instead of simply taking the order, I was given a lecture about how there was no point in "gaming the system" because I would end up spending just as much for less food. I even explained that I wanted to pay the extra charge and was not trying to avoid anything. The rest of our table ordered ribs and ribeyes, so we were not exactly trying to cut corners. It felt more like she wanted to push us into ordering more for the sake of a larger tip, especially since we were also pressured to order appetizers and desserts. Because of the awkward experience, we ordered less and tipped less than usual. The manager did stop by our table, but when we gave a lukewarm response, he did not seem very interested. We are people who never complain, ever, but eating out is expensive, and there is a basic level of service and quality we expect for the money spent. Between the rolls, the service, and the fact that this is not our first disappointing visit in recent weeks, we will not be returning until we hear that things have improved. (To add perspective, we ate at a different steakhouse the day before which was very slow due to new hires being trained, but we had no complaints whatsoever because the staff was friendly and the food was delicious.)

I think this is the only thing I was disappointed by. The size of the tomatoes is large - but the breading is a flour breading instead of the traditional cornmeal breading. I thought it was too heavy and overpowered the flavor of the tomato itself. I probably wouldn't order these again unless a lighter cornmeal breading was an option.
