If you want a nice steak at a nice price check this place out. If you desire even a modicum of a dining experience, avoid at all costs. The food was a solid 4 stars for the type of restaurant this is, but our visibly unhappy/borderline rude server was a 1 star, hence a combined 3 star rating (which I've never ever given btw). Should have seen the look of shock and guilt she gave us when she got 20% on $110. It was obvious that they must not be expecting much in the way of gratuity based on the service we received. read more

Cattle Ranch - 32 Ounces to Freedom!! And reason enough to overlook the cons and eat here again!! - Steakhouses Near Me - Sanford, Florida

Get the loaded buckskins. They are amazing. Everything I have tried here is delicious, but I have never had a potato dish as good as the buckskins anywhere else. The service is good, the restaurant is very...rustic, but who cares what it looks like when you have good steak, good drinks, and great staff! read more

Don't let looks deceive you! This is hands down the best steakhouse in the area. This is my second time here and I am not disappointed. The filet mignon is superb. The long islands will knock you in your @ss. Seriously. Try them! The prices are amazing for the value as well. I recommend the coconut shrimp as an appetizer. read more

The food is mediocre, the place looks like a strip club from the outside, and the interior is tacky. We were seated right in between to the bathroom and wall of 12 taxidermy deer, and the whole place smelled like cigarettes. The only redeeming factor was our waitress who was cheerful and quite attentive. I don't understand how this place has 4 stars!?!? read more

We've been going to this local steakhouse for about 5 years, we've had mostly great experiences, one or 2 not so good but overall a great place to get a good steak and all the fixings while supporting a local business. The menu has Quite a few selections of different cuts of meat as well as a little cowpokes menu for the little ones. My favorite cut is the ribeye. Most meals come with 2 sides. I usually get the salad and a baked potato. Grilled onions and mushrooms can be ordered in place or as a substitute. The portion on those is a small bowl enough for 2 people. Mushrooms are AMAZING. Overall a great place for a good meal. Stop in and give them a try. read more

Always wanted to try this place. My friend and I started to go there, maybe every two weeks. We order the same thing each time. The looks of the place was ok. It's a small town steakhouse and that's what it looks like. The taste was very good. The steaks are very grisly and hard to cut with the very poor steak knives they have. The problem comes up when we took another couple there for a BD dinner. We all ordered the ribeye steak. Two medium rare, one medium and one medium well. We ended up with three very rare steaks and one medium rare steak. We all looked at each other and stop eating less than half way through the meal. I can only add a comment that my steak must have been a end piece because it was 30 fat, not marbled but large pieces of fat. I ended up apologizing to are friends all the way home for ruining the BD dinner. It will a very long time before we (if ever) try this place again! Suggestion: start buying better cuts of meat and find a cook that knows how to cook. You have something that can work, we love the seasoning they use! JT read more

This place doesn't look very fancy outside. Once you get inside you'll see that many of the ceiling tiles are old and water stained. The interior is decorated in a very old style as well, not modern at all. It's still worth a visit though. The staff was very friendly and the food was actually very good. Large sized streaked and they were cooked just as requested. They had good flavor to them along with the rest of the meal. If you're looking for a place that's off the beaten path give this one a shot. read more

Steak is delicious and well prepared. It tastes like it's fresh off the backyard bbq. Good warm bread but obviously not fresh baked. Cheese sticks appetizer was served with marinara in a plastic cup with a tear off lid. Salad dressings are definitely bottled and not made fresh, and the Mac and cheese is 100% boxed Kraft. Overall, it tasted like eating at home or at a friends bbq. It's a perfectly edible meal but not really what I'd expect from a restaurant for the price. I doubt we will go back often since the rest of the menu items didn't go over as well as the steak. Fresh bread, and house made sides and dressings (or at least sauces served in ramekins) could elevate this place tremendously. read more

The only redeeming thing about this place is the price of the food. It's a run down place, with a weird taxidermic panther in the corner. If feels so uncomfortable going there because it's very republican ( not saying being republican is a bad thing, but it feels congested with the american flags everywhere, the loud country music, etc ). If you need cheap food then go for it. But many others restaurants with much better food and quality in the area. read more

This is a straight Sanford steakhouse. Either good or bad, depending on how snobby you happen to be. Just sayin'. The steak is toothsome, savory, perfectly seasoned and grilled to your specifications. All steaks come with 2 sides and I usually order a baked potato and a salad with house dressing (which I also put on my potato-yum). I also add a bowl of whole sauteed mushrooms that are a perfect compliment to the steak. Seriously, the 70's era dank steakhouse decor has not changed since I first dined here in 1980-something, and it probably never will. That's fine with me as long as the steak doesn't change, either. Oh, and they're home of the 6 POUND challenge. It's free if you don't die first. The walls are lined with pics of the many challenge winners, quite a few of whom are female. Open for dinner only, after 5pm. read more

The worst $28. steak ever, it was full of fat and grainy and thin, the sides were not very good either. Baked potato was microwaved maybe from yesterday IDK, bread was somewhat edible, but not hot and fresh like other steak houses. Margarine in little tubs. Just a very bad meal. Our server was very nice and did a good job, food not her fault. The outside/parking lot is run down and on the scary side. Inside is basically like an old run down dive bar or something. Never again. read more

The Venue is dated and was expecting a little More charter then a run down building. Food is good but nothing spectacular. The prices are fair for the amount of food you get. I was expecting a country style restaurant with character but what it is, is just kinda run down. read more

Was seated fairly quickly , waited , waited and waited for a waitress to come and at least see what we wanted to drink Lots of waitresses there just walking on past our table, we sat there for 16 mins and said the hell with it, if they don't want my money there are other places that do. read more

This is a great place for the family to eat after landing at Sanford airport. It's 5 minutes away. It's a cozy family type steakhouse wirth good alcohol prices. The steaks are aged and cut by the family. My ribeye seemed larger than spec.d by the menu and was done perfectly and had excellent flavor like you see at chains. The chicken was surprisingly good as well. They have a good selection of sides and appetizers. Our family of 5 had much alcohol, 2 appetizers, mostley and the bill came to 125 before tip. The parking lot was full, so I figured the locals knew the secret. There's an extra lot out back. The steak knives are the safe butter knife type, great for kids but takes a little work for adults. ) read more

Ok, if you are not interested in old school, hole-in-the-wall places skip this place. The place is old and rundown. It is dingy and the restrooms were built in the 80's and are not nice. I'd give the facility a 2, maybe even a 1.5 star rating. The food is the draw here. If you are a steak lover and can look past the decor you can get a well seasoned huge piece of beef for a good price. My t-bone did come out over cooked but they rectified it quickly. The green beans reminded me of what I had as a kid, out of can and seasoned with salt, pepper and bacon. The salad was fresh and the baked potato was done right. The side of mushrooms were great. Also, the house bread is good, think the bread from Outback. Our server was nice enough but a little scatter brained. All in all, I'd come back for the steak and mushrooms. I do wish they would put a few bucks into freshening up the place. It really needs a makeover. read more

I am mad at myself that I have lived in the area this long and never come here. This meal was so good! $26 for a 10oz filet, bread, and two sides...that's crazy! It was made even better by my wife getting the buckskin upgrade. Oh my God, it was so good! For like $3.50 more you get a GIANT plate of crispy potatoes covered in cheese and bacon...wow! Again, mad at myself for not coming sooner! read more

We had such a phenomenal experience here. Vickie our server was funny and sweet and made sure to check on us. The food was out of this world. We got the ribeye, pork chops and kabobs which were all so good perfectly cooked and seasoned. Baked potatoes were amazing and huge. This place has been here forever so the inside definitely shows it but it just adds to the great experience, obviously updates would be nice for the workers but it didn't affect us eating here in the slightest. We will be back and will tell everyone to head here. read more

Good solid food, reasonably priced...good ambiance and local flavor. Owners been there 28 years, Kentucky fan

Reading the reviews, you will learn the food is incredible, and the decor is lacking. This will summarize my opinion as well. THAT BEING SAID, I love the Cattle Ranch. If meat and fire is what you desire, you will be at home here. Dont come for the ambiance, or the wine list. This is basic no frills dining, but the price reflects that. My favorite for special occasions is the 32 oz Cowboy, a baked potato, salad and a half pitcher of beer. you get all that for the price of the ribeye at a chain steakhouse, and this is a good cut of meat, seasoned and cooked to perfection. If you are particular about your wines, you will be disappointed, but if ordering house cab does not offend your palate, that is what you will get. I opt for the beer for that reason. Some may find the decor distasteful, I like to call it retro. If you go into it with low expectations and a sense of whimsy, you can have fun with it...and it wont affect the food quality whatsoever. It is an honest throwback to a day gone by...good old 70s style steak dining at 90's prices. See you there for meat and fire. read more

Let me tell y'all this place is a crack in the wall but it the food was absolutely amazing. At first the server seemed a little uptight but after a while she came around and she was very pleasant. We waiting quite some time but that's fine it gave my family and friends time to chit chat and celebrate my birthday. So my husband had the cow boy steak and I had the cow girl. Hands down it was cooked to perfection lol I would def go again and def recommend. read more

This is a family restaurant that's obviously been around for quite some time. It probably needs some updates but we're here for the food right? My hubby had the cowgirl and I got the filet mignon. His was much thinner than mine but both were very tasty! Both ordered medium rare and delivered as such. Service was quick and friendly. If you're in the area and looking for a great steak, check this place out for sure. read more

My first experience BAD waited for food 50 minutes . My steak was not medium well like I ordered it was literally burned I asked to please take it back and since I ate the salad that came with it they charged me for it., I could not believed that our waitress actually brought that steak to the table. Also over priced in my opinion!! read more

This is an old school classic steakhouse from the 70's or 80's. This place is in desperate need of a remodel, if nothing but some ceiling tiles, booths and a little freshing up outside. The food was great. The steaks were cooked perfect, the salad was nice old school salad, the green beans were off the hook and the potato was on point. Service was good and reliable. Servers came around with regularity and we personable. I will definitely go back. The only thing holding back the fifth star is the fact it needs the remodel. read more

This is one of those places that I've driven by countless times - always thinking my wife and I should try it out. Well, we finally did. And we should have done so all those years ago!! Our rib eyes were outstanding, cooked perfectly; you have to order the Buck Skins, too. We definitely will return again and again. read more

Yesterday my wife and I tried this restaurant for the first time. Very disappointing! The quality of the steaks where very poor. The prices on line are way off! I understand that Covid 19 has affected a lot of business how ever quality shouldn't be one of them. This place is definitely a dive. But I was expecting that because of prior reviews. But there is a difference between being a dive and just plain dirty. Unfortunately as we left we got a glimpse of a worker cutting meat threw the back screen door. Oh boy had I seen that before we ate I would have just gotten back in the car and left. The server was an older lady and she did have a 6 top as well as our table but really with seating at 50% there should be more attention to each table. I'm really sorry I love mom and pop places and love to support them. But for the prices they are charging and the quality you can get a much better steak at one of the chain restaurant for less. And a lot cleaner environment for sure! read more

So, we've passed by this restaurant a hundred times. It's a little scary looking, but we like to be brave on occasion. I read the reviews here on Yelp and decided to take my chances. I like supporting local restaurants! We came in on a Monday at 5:30. You park in the rear and that's where the entrance is, as well. There was one other person in this HUGE restaurant, and the first thing I noticed was the overwhelming smell of cigarette smoke, which was funny because there are No Smoking signs everywhere. Perhaps they forgot to tell the staff? We contemplated leaving, but decided to stick it out. They have a full bar, so my husband ordered a cocktail and I ordered a glass of Chardonnay. There are no names of wine, just type. Merlot, Chardonnay, etc. It wasn't awful. We ordered our steaks, both petite strip steaks, both with salads and buckskins. Now that I type that, I realize that's never happened. We never order the same thing! Weird! Our salads came first, very cold, very crisp salad, and served with brown bread. The salads were on the smallish side, but very fresh and tasty. The bread was served with butter. The ends of the bread were a little stale, but the rest seemed nice. Then our food came. When our server set our plates down, she asked if we wanted any steak sauce or ketchup. I usually eat my steaks with A-1, so I asked for that, as well as ketchup for the buckskins. By the time she came back with the A-1 sauce (which was about 60 seconds) I told her I didn't need it. The steak was THAT good. Perfectly cooked. Perfectly seasoned. Perfectly perfect. The buckskins were fried and crispy and delightful. The apple sauce was ice cold and delicious. I ate everything on my plate, which I never do. It was SO good. For dessert, our server told us they had homemade peach cobbler with ice cream. Oh boy. My husbands favorite. He had to have it. I will say this.....their peach cobbler is second only to my own. Very, very good. I WISH WISH WISH restaurants like this would update their restaurant and give it a face lift once in awhile to bring in new customers. It's such great food....but sadly, most people won't give it a chance because it looks scary (and frankly, smells scary because of the smoke smell). For us....we'll go back. Most definitely. read more

We arrived a little after 5PM and there were already a few diners, not many. The building is old and not very appealing - a dive. The inside is as bad as a the outside: old, scraped-up, dark paneling, 1970s beer signs and awful flooring; it used to be carpet, I guess. There are Poloroid pictures of the slobs that took the "6 pound challenge' all over the foyer. I wonder if they have a stash of film or if no one has won in a while? We were promptly seated at a table that wobbled. I really hate that; especially at a steak house, where cutting your food shakes everyone's plate around. Our server took our drink order while we checked out the menu. We ordered the Cowgirl (a 16oz t bone) and 2 8oz strip steaks. My friends wanted the Buckskins for apps, but I chose them as a side and salad. Buckskins are skin-on, potato wedges that are a staple at Cattle ranch. If you get them loaded, its +$3.50, but they come covered in some kind of cheese food, imitation bacon bits and about a 1/4 teaspoon of green onions. This is not health food! The dinners come with bread, a ramekin of apple sauce and two sides. My friends went with salads and a potato and green beans, one for each. The salads were a nice garden salad: iceberg lettuce, red onion, a couple of baby carrots and tomatoes, green pepper and croutons. Their house dressing is a Parmigiana/Blue Cheese mix that one friend picked. I went with Ranch. Not a bad salad. A little spinach or other greens would have been nice. The bread was a small loaf of pumpernickel and was decent. The steaks took a while to come out, even though they were not busy. Everyone at the table agreed that they were cooked perfectly. They put a dry rub on that is pretty good, although you can order one without. I was disappointed that one end of the steak was nothing but fat and gristle, about 3 oz worth. My friend said his green beans tasted like vinegar and sent them back. Another thing I must bring up is the uniform shirts of the wait staff. They are sleeveless, tank tops. I prefer the armpits on my food servers covered. I know, I know...if I was at Hooters, I wouldn't be complaining. You're right, but this isn't Hooters...it's Droopers. Get my drift? What's wrong with a T-shirt? This place has seen it's glory days come and go. The owners need to refresh the inside and outside, it's completely dated and worn out. Maybe they could contact "Restaurant Impossible" and get a fresh coat of paint.... read more

Don't know how this place gets four stars. Bread plates were Styrofoam. They don't even give you real butter with the bread. It's hydrogenated soy bean oil. The sour cream came in a packet. The steak was just OK and the fried shrimp definitely not worth the money. Going back to Longhorn! read more

Just read the reviews and you should get a good sense for what you signed up for. If you are looking to impress your date -- not the Steak House to wine and dine her out unless she is missing teeth and your Wranglers equate to dressing up. Now if you enjoy a dive bar that has been in business for a long time without remodeling this is the place to be. Food wise, tasty and great portions for the price. No doubt I'll be back...not in a rush but not a bad spot for a guys night out. read more

This is probably one of my kids favorite places to go for steaks. They are never disappointed from flavor to taste with nice size portions and very friendly service. It is a little bit off the main road from the usual restaurants but definitely worth the extra drive. I have tried several of their steaks and most of their appetizers. I do enjoy the amount of cheese they put onto their wedges and fries. One word - delicious. The only negative I can find about the restaurant is the decor (somewhat outdated); however, that's a personal choice. Otherwise, spot on and worth coming back for! read more

You can't say you live in Sanford until you've been to the Cattle Ranch. What you think they may lack in ambiance they make up for with good food. It's really an all around experience.
