Catskill's single communication @ 5:35 AM

Nyx was admitted to Catskill Veterinary Services on July 15 after our primary veterinarian documented abdominal pain and free abdominal fluid. Catskill's examination indicates she was stable but had a tense, guarded, painful abdomen. She was hospitalized with a guarded prognosis. We were given a proposed timeline, required to pay immediately, and promised updates. We were told Nyx would remain fasted because her ultrasound would be performed the following morning. At 5:35 AM on July 16, Catskill texted that Nyx had rested comfortably and that "he" was receiving fluids and medications and fasting "to have his ultrasound done this morning." Nyx is female. Perhaps this was a template error, but the repeated wrong pronouns did not inspire confidence that the update was individualized or reviewed. At 4:24 AM, Nyx's glucose was 102 and lactate was 1.56, within Catskill's displayed ranges. By approximately 9:30 AM, an internal note described her as "dumpy/depressed/painful." Another entry states she appeared very nauseated when walked. We received no substantive veterinarian update that morning. I called at 11:59 AM and was told Nyx was resting comfortably and the ultrasound should happen soon. At 3:16 PM, my wife asked whether Catskill had called because neither of us had received the promised update. We continued initiating calls that afternoon. Dr. Green told us only one radiographic series would be needed because ultrasound would provide the necessary additional imaging while controlling cost. Catskill's records contain ultrasound entries between approximately 4:00 and 4:56 PM. A second radiographic series was ordered around 5:00 PM and billed to us. The images provided important information; our complaint is not that they were taken. It is that nobody called to explain the changed plan. At 5:21 PM, a veterinarian left a voicemail stating that they had "just finished up the ultrasound report," that the matter was very important, and that we needed to call back. At 5:35 PM, Nyx's glucose was 58 and lactate was 6.13, outside Catskill's displayed ranges. Fentanyl was restarted four minutes later. The outside radiology report, completed at 6:37 PM, identified free abdominal gas, stated that gastrointestinal rupture was most likely, and recommended immediate surgery. Catskill could not perform the surgery, leaving us to locate another emergency hospital. Catskill documented at 5:15 PM that we planned to arrive by 7:00 PM. Despite the immediate-surgery recommendation, its treatment sheet records discharge at 7:52 PM. We left around 8:00 PM and drove more than two hours to Eastern Pennsylvania Veterinary Medical Center. Eastern operated overnight. The surgeon found severe abdominal fluid and a proximal-duodenal perforation about one centimeter beyond the pylorus. Unhealthy tissue was removed, the defect closed, and the abdomen cleaned. Despite Catskill's concern about a linear foreign body and intestinal plication, Eastern repeatedly examined Nyx's intestinal tract and found neither. After I submitted a poor survey, Dr. Carbone called. I praised the admitting staff and Dr. Green but criticized the day staff's communication. Dr. Carbone repeatedly maintained that the clinic had done nothing wrong, cited her community work, and said she treats patients as her own. I replied that community involvement did not address our experience and questioned whether Catskill accepted more cases than its staffing could timely handle while requiring upfront payment. Dr. Carbone also said Nyx had not been critically ill at admission. Catskill's examination supports that she was stable then, although painful and given a guarded prognosis. We understand emergency hospitals must prioritize unstable patients. Our complaint is not that more critical patients were treated first. It is that we were given a morning timeline, later told the ultrasound would happen soon, and received no clear revised timeline or meaningful veterinarian update. Earlier notice could have allowed us to discuss transfer to a hospital capable of diagnostics and surgery. Until the urgent late-afternoon calls, Catskill's only written update was the 5:35 AM message using the wrong sex. My wife and I spent the day seeking information. The contrast was difficult to ignore: payment was required immediately, while the represented diagnostic and communication timetable received no comparable urgency. We cannot identify the exact time of perforation or claim continuous deterioration all day. Catskill's records do document normal glucose and lactate early that morning, pain and nausea during the day, and substantially abnormal values by late afternoon. This review reflects our experience and the records, call logs, messages, and voicemail we preserved. Based on that experience, we would not return to or recommend Catskill Veterinary Services.

Allow pet owners in on the complete process. Even in human hospitals, parents are with there children, spouses are together. Elderly pets have zero value add. Costs? A plain film x-ray, $300 versus $50, in hospital or clinic. Moderate the cost. Our pet died hours after given a respiratory suppressant morphine derivative. Would I take another there, abso

We brought our 17 year old pet male cat Michelangelo to the Rock Hill office for care. Our primary vet was closed and recommended this facility. Right off the bat a $110.00 charge discounted to $99.00. First of all established clients should not be hit with an initial visitation or emergency fee. The pricing excessive, over $300.00 just to do a plain film X-ray. The attendees bring your pets into a closed room. It took 4 of them to draw blood from a 5.8lb feline. The Dr claimed he performed an echocardiogram which revealed left atrium of his heart enlarged. No images were provided for our review or understanding. The reason for the visit, we tried explaining to the staff and Dr that he needed a cleansing enema Michelangelo's colon was impacted. It was clearly explained to the vet that Michelangelo had not had a bowel movement in 5 days and was not eating. But he felt our regular vet was wrong who claimed he had at least 4 inches of fecal in his colon. The attendant could not insert a thermometer beyond 3/4 inch into our cats rectum. The vet 'suggested' that we put our pet down. We said no. His solution, inject our cat with Buprenorphine. Which is contraindicated for a pet, our cat with shallow breathing already, plus it over heated our pet to a point where he was laying where he was cool on a tiled floor. 3 hours post the vet visit for a cleansing enema which didn't occur, our 17 year old pet cat died. We would not take another pet to the factory Catskill Veterinary Services - Rock Hill. Care and compassion from the closeted back room is zero.

Quality Pet Care - Jesenia Fields Office Manager

Dr. Quick and his staff have always gone out of their way to care for our Snowflake, Gato and…read more"Kitten." His staff is well-trained and compassionate. Dr. Quick himself has gone above and beyond the call of duty. One late night Snowflake began to bleed from someplace where she should not have been bleeding and I called Dr. Quick. The answering service passed the message onto him and he called us back immediately. As it turns out, he was within minutes of arriving home over an hour away and in spite of that, he turned around and sped back to meet us at the office. He took care of Snowflake. If that isn't dedication, then I don't know what is. Even off-duty, he acts as if he is on-duty. One time we were in a local market shopping and passed him and his family. One of our pets was having an issue earlier that week which he was made aware of. So, there in the market, on his personal time, he starts inquiring as to the status of our little beastie to make sure he was alright. Dr. Quick is one of those doctors who looks upon his patients as if they were his children, I think, based on how he has interacted with our pets AND he truly cares about all animals. I can't count the number of times he has taken in strays, injured animals off the street, dropped off by concerned citizens, etc, and nursed them back to health, sometimes asking for help but always bringing the animals back to health if possible. What sort of doctor does that? A REAL DOCTOR. And there you have it. I am sure there are other caring vets in the area but as for me and my wife, we would not trust out little Snowflake, our Gato or our "Kitten" with any other doctor.

Our cat got into a fight and wound up with a cut on the side of his nose. Our daughter had the car, so I called Dr. Barbara MacMullan and she came over after she was done working her day job, at a local Vet's office. For $50 she did a full exam, weighed our cat, clipped his nails, examined his ears, eyes and mouth and talked to us at length about the options. We didn't want to lance the abscess because it was so close to the eye, so she prescribed amoxicillin. Two days later our cat was on the mend. We didn't have to take him anywhere! No stress. And a $10 savings from going to the Vet. A Vet who makes house calls is great. A Vet who makes thorough house calls and follows up is amazing. And Dr. MacMullan definitely falls into the latter category. :)

Dog Obedience Group - Text messages

Dog Obedience Group

Attentive, loving environment, emphasis on safe play in the Doggy Daycare…read more My dogs are very active, 15 months old half German Shepherd and one half Husky. At home when they are bored they eat my furniture, sending stuffing everywhere. They dig holes in the wall-to-wall carpet, take bath towels of the rods and rip holes in them playing tug of war. And they are bored all the time. I have crates and they spent hours in them but it broke my heart to cage them so much. I had to, unless they are being watched, they are about destroying our shoes. We have replaced more than $1,000 in shoes because of our puppies. When I broke my focus five minutes to read my newspaper, they quickly went upstairs and started to destroy expensive furniture. I have worked with two good professional dog trainers, Jim Epperly and Steve Patch. Both said that my young dogs need more exercise. Jim Epperly specifically added that socializing with other dogs would help. Jim also found that the dog treats I was giving t hem were high in sugar. I tried our local Dog Park, but it was dangerous for my puppies, as a man brought a mean big dog there who was so bad everyone else called their dogs and left. One of them telling me to do the same, which I did. A friend of my husband that we had dinner with told me about Elizabeth Wood's Dog Obedience Group, and how being in Doggy Daycare was a joy to her little poodle. That he came home happy and calm. Marion said that Elizabeth is a "my way or the highway" on safety rules, and dogs are indeed, safe in her care. To try her for my dogs. I'm so glad I did! My two dogs are so different now, after just one week! Even after the first day, there was a transformation. They are no longer destroying my home. They are easy to walk. The two dog trainers were right. My dogs needed lots of exercise and to socialize with other dogs. They get both at the Dog Obedience Group. First, before acceptance into her Dog Daycare, each of my dogs went through an extensive interview process as individuals. Then she put them in one of the play areas, and carefully introduced them to one dog. After watching the interaction very carefully, Elizabeth introduced another dog. There was no hurry. Each introduction was allowed as much time as necessary for acceptance. More dogs followed, sometimes in twos and threes, until the ultimate play group was formed. Elizabeth kept the play group under observation during the entire session. My dogs played and played, hearts full of joy, bouncing in the air, sometimes running with other curly tailed sled dogs that looked just like them, other times playing with poodles or very small dogs. When I took them home, they were exhausted. When I took them for a walk, they were calm and not pulling. My bath towels were safe. They finally had had a chance to burn off all that energy, mentally and physically. The second day, Elizabeth showed me that Yuri had already learned the first lesson that she teaches all dogs under her care: come when called. She called "Yuri" and he, who was at the far end of the playground, dropped everything to instantly bolt up to her, stopping at her feet in a sit position. Elizabeth then called dog after dog, by name, individually, and showed me that they all obey her, just like that, coming when their name is called, without hesitation. This is good for the safety of every dog. She has a rare and special talent for communication with dogs. Now that I and my dogs have experienced her place for a week, and it has been so positive for us, I believe that those negative reviewers just didn't understand that their dogs failed that initial individual interview. Reading reviews carefully, now that I and my dogs have had our own experiences, I realize that if the dog might be a danger to other dogs, it never was allowed past that first interview with Elizabeth. The reviewer never mentioned their dog meeting other dogs, because it did not get that far. If the dog is untrustworthy, it will not pass the first interview. Those negative reviewers must not have realized that an interview was taking place. They are upset at the assessment of their dog being negative. If a dog is not well fed, has untrimmed nails, fleas, is not under control with a simple chain collar and leash, these are symptoms of well being that affect behavior. This assessment is for the safety of all dogs in the group. Elizabeth will only allow dogs to join her dog learning and playing community that have a gentle, trainable temperament. My dogs are healthier, with softer coats, than they have ever been, following Elizabeth's nutrition guidence. They are calmer, less needy, and better company now that they have hours of play and friendships with other dogs. I recommend Dog Obedience Group and Elizabeth Woods.

After reading the reviews from dissatisfied customers, I've realized that Elizabeth's behavior and…read morelack of respect for others is a recurring issue. Elizabeth has gone so far as to publicly attack my relationship, using hate speech and displaying anger management issues. It comes as no surprise that someone who treats others like this would have little care for animals. I have included two screenshots from social media that display a level of ignorance that is sadly all too common these days. The first is Elizabeth's unprompted attack on my relationship in which she calls my partner and me "FREAKS" and "DISGUSTING". The second is my message to Elizabeth attempting to deescalate the situation she created. I was promptly blocked and it appears that the comments were deleted. I do not recommend Elizabeth for any services, much less those which deal in behavior correction.
