Middletown Veterinary Hospital - Welcome to Middletown Veterinary Hospital!

This seemed excessive, expensive and unnecessary. My co-worker told me that he made the switch to Middletown Veterinary with his vet reactive dog, so we thought we'd try. Our last visit, our dog only cried once. My husband was so proud, he talked about it for days. Our other dog and cat are easy at the vet but are provided with great care as well. Every person who works there is so kind. Thank you Middletown Veterinary!

RUDE, JUDGEMENTAL, COLD AND DISMISSIVE VET. RUDE VET TECH. INEPT RECEPTIONIST. POOR COMMUNICATION…read moreWITHIN THIS OFFICE. THIS FACILITY DID NOT HAVE THE PROPER SUPPLIES TO CARE FOR MY PUPPY AND CHARGED ME A $126 EXAM FEE. I adopted a puppy with a broken leg. The puppy had a cast on her leg that was put on at a local emergency hospital. I went to Middletown Veterinary Hospital about 2 1/2 weeks after the puppy's cast was put on. When I made the same day appointment, I explained that I had a puppy in a cast that needed follow-up care, specifically for the broken limb and I forwarded the x-rays from the emergency vet, as requested. In the exam room, I was given a price estimate for vaccines by the Vet Tech. I respectfully declined the vaccines at that time, stating that I understood the importance, but I came specifically to follow up about the broken limb. I was told by the vet tech that it is the LAW for a dog to have a rabies vaccine and that the Vet will discuss this further. The Vet stated that they could not do the follow up because they did not have "casting materials" in stock and could not x-ray the puppy with the cast on. So, the cast would have to be removed for the x-ray and if the limb was still broken, they could not recast it. I told them that since they couldn't do the follow-up, I didn't need to be there because the puppy needed a follow up for the broken limb and that was the purpose for our visit. The Vet apologized for the "miscommunication" and stated that they did not know what this appointment was for. I explained that I specifically stated the purpose for the visit and even sent the x-rays. The Vet told me that she was in the middle of the exam and I would have to pay for the time slot anyway. I told her to continue the exam and that I respected her time. She replied that I did not really appear to respect her time at all. I explained again that I specifically stated what the purpose of this visit was when I made the appointment. I expressed that I was concerned about the puppy and the length of time she has been in the cast with no follow up care. I explained that I recently took ownership of the puppy and had no way to get her to a follow-up appointment sooner. The Vet said "Sorry, for the miscommunication" and then as she was leaving the exam room the Vet said, "GOOD LUCK". I paid $126 for the vet to examine the puppy and take her temperature.

Dr. Johnson is an absolute dream! Not only is he very pleasant, I like that he's "old school" in…read morethat he's more concerned about the health of my dog and cat than he is in to high pressure sales of services and items not necessary. He made sure all my questions and concerns were addressed before we left and was very clear about when we could call for lab results, etc. I highly recommend his services! Even his staff is very friendly and accommodating. I am truly impressed and am very happy to find a veterinarian I trust. A++

So I took one him there and I told them in advance I knew it was not ringworm as I've seen that before. I provided a sample to be tested to determine if it was a fungus or not. They examined the cat and took the sample to the tune of $134 and called two days later to tell me that it was not ringworm. I already knew that. When I challenged them that I already knew that and specifically had told them it wasn't ringworm, the receptionist was completely useless. Total waste of money. Then I reached out on a cat Facebook page and someone asked if my cat fights with other cats, which he does sometimes. She said that it's probably a scab from a scratch. The more I looked at it.....she was right. That's exactly what it was. It is ridiculous that this vet was not able to ascertain that.

We were here a few weeks ago for a nail trim and anal gland squeeze on our 12 year old dog…read more Everything went pretty well and pricing was fair. This week we went with a newly adopted dog so we could get her microchipped and have her Rabies vaccine done. For some reason, even though the first shelter the dog was in had "spayed female" on the paperwork, the lack of a spay date made the person signing in our dog suspect that she was not spayed. Do yourself a big favor and bring in spay documents if you have them. If you look at our dog's abdomen, there is a spay scar. We had to have bloodwork done to the tune of $40 because they did not want to give her a rabies vaccine because there was no date of a heartworm test on the shelter paperwork either. The shelter had the dog on heart-worm preventative and flea and tick meds. We needed a form filled out so we could apply for a Lifetime PA dog license since she was now microchipped. This was a $15 fee but it saved us gas and a trip to our vet which I guess is fair but it literally took two minutes to fill out. I did end up paying close to $300 for everything. Finally, I had to wait several minutes to get the rabies certificate filled out. During that time I noticed a board with rebate information. I was surprised that the clerk who we paid made absolutely no mention of the rebate I could request for the flea and tick meds we purchased. What surprised me even more is that when I went on line to do the rebate, T.A.R.A. was not on the list of participating veterinarians who sell the product. I had to add them on manually. All this being said, the veterinarian and the tech who took care of our dog was very nice.
