The Dr. and the techs were so wonderful to me and my family. I was heartbroken and beside myself. They let me take all the time I needed and even took it upon themselves to emboss a resting place for her. 3 days ago I received a condolence card and a paper like thing with wildflowers in it in the shape of a heart to plant at her resting place at home. I had her for 17 years. I am truly grateful for Dr. Alden and her techs. My fiance, mother and my son who were with me appreciate every one of them

I asked how much it cost, and she said $100.00 per vial. I told her I cannot afford that once a week which would have been what she would need. When I told her I couldn't afford the insulin and would she please write out a script for the Walmart insulin which many Veterinarians will use for dogs and the cost is $25.00! She said "If you can't afford it maybe you should give her to someone who can afford it". She was very rude. The following visit I saw a tech. He checked her blood sugar and it went up rather than down. He literally told me off! I walked out after three hours of Dr. Alden calling places to provide one time charity for me to get insulin for my dog. Without my permission or my asking. After that waiting time for nothing, I left the office crying. When I got out to my car, two emplyees came to my car before I got out of the parking lot to sign paperwork which basically said I will not hold them responsible should something happen to my dog. At that point I didn't care what they did with their damn papers. I signed them and told them I will not be back. I said perhaps Dr. Alden should know a persons history before judging. My husband and I had gotten our dog together and could afford everything for her. My husband died young 4 months later. I was a young widow and trying my best to help my baby girl who I loved to death. Instead of asking how can I help, She insisted i buy the expensive insulin. I never took my dog back there again. Jad Dr. Alden started her on the other much cheaper brand of insulin, she would have been fine. Instead my dog suffered for 8 months and was on 80 units of insulin a day and costing me $400.00 a week. That drained my saving account, and did nothing to lower my dog's blood sugar. She went blind over night, she died 8 months later. I did my part, She failed my 8 year old lab and me. I have no respect for anyone in that office. I highly recommend you stay away from them unless you want to lose all of your money and your pet.

Talk about a new world! For the first time, my cat wasn't feral in the foyer or with any of the vets and staff at Rhinebeck Animal Hospital. The level of caring, compassion, knowledge, and experience by every one of the staff at Rhinebeck Animal Hospital is stellar. I realized what a sh*tshow Community Animal Hospital is in comparison! Customarily, my cat has to be sedated and contrary to Community Animal Hospital, it didn't take 1-2 days but 1-2 hours to recover. There's a lot more, especially paying 67% less on fees - the estimates were right on target unlike Community Animal Hospital which changes estimates on a whim. Most importantly, I was informed that my cat's lab work revealed a reversal of his kidney disease in the one year since he's been a patient at Rhinebeck Animal Hospital. That's not only a miracle, but a testimony to them!

The reception staff has noticeably become less friendly, and I've been waiting nearly two weeks for an important return call--with no response. Unfortunately, I've decided to move to a different vet. If you're considering this as your primary veterinary clinic, I'd urge you to factor in the long wait times (even during emergencies) and the inconsistent level of service. While many of the vets are excellent, not all are, and the overall experience has left me very disappointed.

I was skeptical of their conversion to using an online pharmacy, but I have found that the prices are comparable to what I would find if I bought the medications at other pet pharmacies online. I brought their attention to an open sore on her ear flap and they put it down to her "just being old". I had tried many different treatments at home but the wound had become infected and ulcerated. Her usual vet didn't even clean away the area so they could have a proper look at it! I took her for a 2nd opinion emergency appointment to Dr. Schafer at Hurley Vets who immediately suggested that the wound needed immediate attention and possibly removal. The attentive vet tech whisked her away and took blood fron her jugular vein (last vet techs poked her 3 times and were still unable to draw blood) Dr. Schafer gave her a 2 week shot of antibiotics as I knew it would be really difficult to give her the meds orally twice a day. This alleviated so much stress for both of us. A few days later my little one had surgery to remove half of her ear. The mass result came back as cancerous. She had another growth removed from her real leg too as it was getting larger amd I aas afraid the same would happen to it. All the staff were pleasant and extremely helpful. Dr. Schafer even helped me out with transport for my little one, kept in touch with me throughout the whole experience and obviously loves animals with all her heart. She is a kind, loving, helpful, honest soul and a wonderful, compassionate, capable, super-smart vet. My little one has recovered 100% and has tons more energy now thanks to the removal of the cancer as well as being given medicine for her osteoarthritis and a supplement for her liver. She has no doubt added quality time to this little old lady's lifespan and I could not be more thankful or appreciative to Dr. Danielle Schafer.

She insisted that my cat isn't serious enough ( my cat had been coughing for some time) in comparison to pets in accident. She explicitly said, "Someone could bring in their dog who got into a accident, therefore we don't know when your pet is going to be checked." - This after waiting for 2 hours. Why call yourself an emergency service of you cannot handle the pressure. As for the place, there's only 4 exam rooms with only a single doctor managing them. The lobby can only accommodate a few patients. Most owners chose to sit in their cars with their animals. This practice should not exist! And especially with the current staffs. Please practice what you preach - ensure all petparents seeking emergency veterinary services are treated with professionalism and empathy. Please recognize that we are often under severe emotional duress when facing a pet's emergency.

I sang 'You are My Sunshine' while driving back to Kingston to his furever home. He looked at me as if his Birth Mother had finally found him. In 2003, I brought him to my local Petco for his next Rabies vaccination. The visit went well. He has a laid back, friendly personality. He was comfortable around new human friends. We visited the same Petco on March 27, 2026 for another Rabies vaccine after I made a same day appointment with Ayha at the front desk. We got an appointment mid-afternoon. When we checked in I asked if Snickers' nails could be clipped as well. He's a strong cat. I feed him raw chicken breast as it is less expensive than a 3.5 lb bag of Science Diet for 11+ Seniors. After introductions with Snickers, Ayha and Dr Kristen Erickson, I also noted that Snickers appears to have ear mites. He was whisked away to the treatment room for about 20 minutes. When I was called to join Snickers and the medical team in the treatment room, Ayha was cradling Snickers in her arms. Dr Erickson reported that Snickers, in fact, had an ear infection. His ears had been cleaned. No more black gunk. There's a liquid medicine to drop into each ear. Snickers' behavior during his nail clipping, vaccine injection to his thigh and various poking around with the stethoscope for his heart beat and lung sounds was reportedly uneventful. Snickers does not cooperate with me when I attempt to clip his nails. He wriggles out of my arms and walks away. I'm grateful to the staff at Petco for maintaining my cat's trust in them. He was tired when we got home after thoroughly cleaning the area on his leg where he received the injection. He flinches when I administer his ear drops.

These folks take their jobs very seriously as was shown through our adoption process. The facility is clean and friendly with staff who obviously care and love animals. We picked out a dog on our first visit and began the adoption process. Our puppy was too young to adopt (they wouldn't let us take her until she was old enough and was fixed) so we agreed to board her as fosters for a couple of weeks until she was old enough for the surgery. Before we could take her home, an officer came to our house and inspected the premises and asked many questions (this is after filling out a full application). I was impressed by his professionalism. After we were approved we were able to take our puppy home. The fees were nominal, especially considering the costs of the surgery and medical tests that had to be performed before they would release the dog. Once they did, we had a wonderful life companion. If any of the above sounds like a hassle, then think about why you are adopting. As someone who volunteered at a shelter I know how important it is to have potential adopters vetted. I felt confident after going through the process that this shelter is excellent.

Sadly, these folks don't seem to get animals. I am truly worried that these people are not qualified to assess individual animals' needs and will fail to place their animals in appropriate homes. They have general (and, frankly, arbitrary) guidelines for adopting out pets and the people I spoke to couldn't speak to any individual pet's traits or needs. It was a onerous, depressing and frustrating process just to locate pets on their site and after you spend a long, long time filling out repetitive forms, you have to go over and confirm all the answers on the phone with someone who doesn't have specific knowledge of the animal involved. Truly head spinning. Also, the service there is terrible, they will NOT return calls, you always have to call back and hope to get someone. I truly worry about where the animals in their care end up.
