I adopted my formerly feral cat, Snickers, in 2020 from the Columbia-Greene Humane Society/SPCA. When I took him home, he was up to date with his vaccinations, medical checks as a healthy neutered 9 yr old DSH. I sang 'You are My Sunshine' while driving back to Kingston to his furever home. He looked at me as if his Birth Mother had finally found him. In 2003, I brought him to my local Petco for his next Rabies vaccination. The visit went well. He has a laid back, friendly personality. He was comfortable around new human friends. We visited the same Petco on March 27, 2026 for another Rabies vaccine after I made a same day appointment with Ayha at the front desk. We got an appointment mid-afternoon. When we checked in I asked if Snickers' nails could be clipped as well. He's a strong cat. I feed him raw chicken breast as it is less expensive than a 3.5 lb bag of Science Diet for 11+ Seniors. After introductions with Snickers, Ayha and Dr Kristen Erickson, I also noted that Snickers appears to have ear mites. He was whisked away to the treatment room for about 20 minutes. When I was called to join Snickers and the medical team in the treatment room, Ayha was cradling Snickers in her arms. Dr Erickson reported that Snickers, in fact, had an ear infection. His ears had been cleaned. No more black gunk. There's a liquid medicine to drop into each ear. Snickers' behavior during his nail clipping, vaccine injection to his thigh and various poking around with the stethoscope for his heart beat and lung sounds was reportedly uneventful. Snickers does not cooperate with me when I attempt to clip his nails. He wriggles out of my arms and walks away. I'm grateful to the staff at Petco for maintaining my cat's trust in them. He was tired when we got home after thoroughly cleaning the area on his leg where he received the injection. He flinches when I administer his ear drops. read more

This is now the second time my dog has been in since our normal groomer Alyssa left. Both time they stated they could not complete services that were included that have never been an issue before. I have a beagle and this time they stated they could not cut his nails due to him trying to bite he has NEVER tried to bite anyone when having his nails trimmed. They also stated that they could not do his anal glands because he started howling. He is a bagel of course he will howl. This has never been an issue before all these new people who clearly don't know how to handle dogs! Funny because they apparently were telling the customer before us the same thing. Unbelievable $50 for just a bath because they didn't do the other included services. Never again will we be back! If I could give zero stars I would. read more

I love going here with my dog. The shelves are well-stocked. Staff is very friendly. I spent some time talking with one of the groomers today and he was very nice. You can easily spend an hour there, walking up and down the iaisles and chatting with the other dog owners,. They have a great selection. read more

I had 2 very sick cats a few months back and could not get my vet to see them and no other area vets had openings. I was giving info to take them to a emergency vet but the cost was more then I could take on and then was told about Petco. What can I say besides how amazing this staff was, from the moment I walked in to follow up care after. I feel they are truly amazing and lead with empathy of your pets. I am so happy I had found them that I have now made them my permanent Vet for my pets. I cant speak enough of the team there and how they truly work with you, besides that the cost is amazingly affordable. I did purchase vital care that also gives me discounts and money toward my visits and it is 100% well worth it. If you need a vet this is the place to go read more

I posted a very negative review a few days ago because of the indifferent and apathetic staff. There's one young lady that is always nice but other than that nobody cares if you walk into the store and stand there and stand there you're practically have to poke them with a stick to get helped when I was in the other day I asked if they were going to turn the lights on the fish tanks. The girl didn't even look up from what she was doing and said I didn't get to it yet and then continue to ignore me, I decided to give the store another chance today and Petco you lose. This time I was looking at the fish and there was a pile of dead fish in one of the tanks not one or two but a pile of dead fish. Petsmart is always a better option. read more

I don't generally stop very often at Petco, but on a whim, I decided that today was the day I'd actually get my first real "true user experience" and from this experience it didn't depress me. I've recognized in the past that this place has worse prices than it's competitors as well as a smaller selection of brands for products (than it's competitor), but when it came to finding what I wanted, I ended up being in for about 15 minutes but only found something I wasn't originally expecting to find but something I could rather use for my pet (dog) Spirit. Our dog loves indestructible toys, but having shopped PetSmart in the past (but not finding a single item that suit his desires), when I saw a rope-ball (not just one, but two), I fell in love (who says you couldn't fall in love at first sight) with something he could use and the price being rather reasonable at $4.(+change) and knowing his statistic of how well he can figure out these types of toys, I knew I'd have to get more than one. Still not too convinced when it comes to dog food brands. THey don't have too many of the big names, nor do they have some of the bigger names in the dog bones/treats aisle, but what amazed me was the slightly bigger selection of leashes and other dog-necessities in another aisle (though I do still think that PetSmart may still have the better selection in quality items than Petco). Overall, a good start here. Not too crazy that it's paired next to a Barnes and Noble as well as a Moe's on it's opposite side, along with around the same area as a Panera Bread, Applebees and Burger King (just to name a few places in or around this same mall on the same side of the street). The store also had some problems. They ended up stocking shelves, and no matter where I walked, I'd find several Little Giant ladders sticking out where they shouldn't be when not in use and I kept having to go around them or trip. Time spent up the registers was rather non-eventful. With the exception of having to provide my brother's telephone number for his Petco Pals Rewards (I think that's what they call this program), the transaction moved along with little problems. I had some problems with the machine accepting my chip in my debit card but after three tries, the employee told me that the machines don't like debit card chip cards but have the fallback swipe method we all have grown to love over the years (but to get that, it can't accept it during any three attempts for the same transaction). read more

Decided to stop inside this Petco location since I was in the area, cleanliness of the store was good - recovery doesn't look like it's been done so it was hard to look for the two items I needed. As for the staff there was NO ONE on the floor what so ever (Nope it wasn't a weekend either) so if you need help you have to feel like your bothering the cashier by asking a question. read more

My chihuahua clearly did not want a mani-pedi and never does. The staff here is great - patient, gentle and very careful. Helps to make an appointment ahead of time as they do a professional job for reasonable rates so are booked pretty solid, but they do try to squeeze in drop ins. I just hope they take Faun again. As soon as I walked through the door at this store there was a trail of dog pee. Very dangerous for someone to be able to step in and slide on. The store was a mess. Employees rude and not helpful at all. I stood looking at fish food and watched a woman let her dog take not one, not two but THREE on the floor then proceed to go up to the counter and get in line. Leaving the disgusting trail for again someone to slide on or step in as a few people almost did. I had to be poop patrol for people while she stood up at the counter trying to leave the scene of the crime she left behind so she wouldn't have to clean it. So taking it upon myself to tell the woman what she let her dog do she proceeds to tell me she didn't know her dog did it. Ummm lady. I stood there and watched while you stopped in the aisle and let your dog do it. So while calling woman out I was the one who the employees threatened to throw outta the store. Not said poop and run woman. ME who was watching that no one stepped in the slimy disgusting mess and fell in it and you probably would have gotten a law suit. They told ME they would make me leave. All this headache in this disgusting store to get a Betta fish. My third one now because their fish always end up dying within days. Yes you can return the dead carcass and a sample of your water but YOU KNOW it's ALWAYS your water that killed said fish. Even though I have 3 other tanks with the same EXACT water in it with thriving fish. Next time I'll go to Petsmart. No trails of pee. No piles of poop on the floor and the store smelling disgusting and buying fish that actually LIVE and being told they can throw me out of the store for calling people out on leaving piles of poop all over for others to step in. Moral of story...Just save myself a headache and stay out of this hole of a store and just go Petsmart. I like this store. Even though it is a brand new store in the area, I have only been in there 3 times. The first day I went... they were open to the public but not officially open. I got free 1 lb at the treat bar for my dogs' birthday. I wish they would become faster at getting adoptions in the store, so I could be able to adopt. read more

Just finished getting Frankie( my 1 year old miniature Dachshund) groomed from the Petco in Kingston NY. Michelle was excellent ! She was so kind, caring, and attentive to Frankie. She kept us updated on how he was doing and his cut came out beautifully. He was very nervous and she did everything to keep him calm and comfortable. Very fair price for a cut, bath, nail trim, and ear cleaning. Will definitely be coming back and will request Michelle again. Thank you Petco in Kingston for a great experience. read more

I don't even live in Kingston, and the Poughkeepsie store is actually closer to me, but the drive is totally worth it! I shopped around for dog training classes and when I met the trainer at the Petco in Poughkeepsie I was really not impressed. I'm SO GLAD I went to the Kingston location!!! I originally planned on only doing the basic puppy classes, but so far we have stuck with Regina as our trainer all the way into adult classes! She really knows what she's doing, and this is coming from someone who has hired a behavioralist in the past. I have a big breed dog, and Regina has been a life saver! Any time I have questions about food allergies or finding a good dog food to suit a big breed puppy, she's there. Any time I need help about a specific training issue, she's there. I absolutely love her! Our classes are always time well spent and my 6 month old puppy is becoming a well behaved adult thanks to these classes and all of Regina's awesome advice. I really enjoy taking him to puppy play time also. It is extremely well run, clean, safe, and excellent for socialization. I really can't say enough good things about Regina and this Petco! read more

My dog enjoyed his Puppy Level I training with Kristina. It was a big help in teaching him to follow commands even when distracted. His grooming has been very good, first with Jackie, and after she left, with Alexis. My dog loves to go to Petco, Staff are invariably warm and helpful whether talking to me or to my dog. I would like to see a larger selection of Kong toys, so I don't have to get them online. The store is very clean with a large inventory, and the critters for sale appear to be healthy and content. read more
