Our regular boarding facility was booked solid for the next 2 months as people were getting out and about again after the long shutdowns due to Covid and enjoying vacations. My DH and some friends decided to go to the Shore for a weekend 3 weekends from now. It's 7/20 and we needed to board 8/6-8/8. I called several places, but as I had an appt at our vet in Wurtsboro I thought "Dog Obedience Group - Boarding, Training, Daycare" may be the place as it was also in Wurtsboro and being a small town a ways from the city may have openings. I called and a woman, Elizabeth answered. She asked standard questions about my dog.. age, weight and breed. When I told her she was a Irish Doodle she seemed super excited as she hadn't seen one, but had owned Irish setters before. She asked if I could send a picture.. even though It was agreed upon to bring my dog by Friday.. just a few days away. She said great and I'll send pics of our place. I received 8 pics of the owner/trainers dogs and other boarders animals. Weird I thought, I thought pics were going to be around the facility. She mentioned several times about a "raw diet" and how it helps with ear infections etc. she also went on to claim the Wurtsboro vet clinic is just out to get your money and how she is essentially a dog "anti vaxxer". After this odd back and forth I started having second thoughts and looked more in-depth at the reviews. The negative ones were not just bad, but downright horrifying for the owners and animals left in her care. Ranging from dogs being attacked to her rough handling with a training collar. Thankfully, my wonderful regular day care and boarding facility had a cancellation and called me. I contacted Elizabeth this morning so as to make sure she didn't turn down another potential boarder to have me then cancel on her. She thanked me for making her aware of the cancellation and then she got nasty. This just confirmed that I had made the right decision. Read the exchange yourselves. A true business owner and lover of animals would want to convert the occasional client to a regular. They would want to gain your regular business and the word of mouth of how awesome your facility, treatment of the animals and how professional and caring the staff/owner is. read more

I reached out to the owner of dog obedience group through the e-mail on their website. The owner added my e-mail to her imessage list and started sending me political texts about Trump going on Fox News and how she's against Juneteenth becoming a holiday. I responded and asked her to stop texting me and berated me as a liberal. I also looked them up for NYS business license and could find anything. Please be aware that this company may be operating illegally. Very unprofessional and, frankly, rude behavior. read more

Would give it no stars if I could. I observed the owner, Elizabeth, whipping a dog on the head with a leash. I was visiting the area and bringing my dogs on a recommendation. I was horrified and have since heard she hits the dogs with her person (hands, feet) as well as objects. She feels this is fine and encourages the clients she "trains" to do so as well. Needless to say I will never go back. If she does this in front of people, what does she do when no one is there? The leash could have hit the dog's eye and caused injury or worse. If I could I would give this zero stars! We brought our dogs here Two times. First time we met this "business" owner, we were told our dogs were fat and morbidly obese. After talking with her, we figured she was just an over the top dog person who was telling us about all the "wrong" we were doing. Btw our dogs are a medium mixed breed and a pure lab( she didn't believe our dog was a lab) haha..... anyway. Our second time we brought our dogs back, we dropped them off due to my partner who was going to go into labor any day now. I pull up to her house, I said good morning, i was greeted with "your dogs are fucking obese still! This will be the last time I watch the dogs because I don't watch abused animals! You are abusing these dogs. They need raw food!". I told "her we can't afford raw food". Her response was "bullshit". Again baby on the way.... I was texted not even 20 minutes after with the picture of the dog food we give and how it's bad and if we can't afford raw for the dogs how will we afford a child! I'm sorry but who the fuck are you! Then i came to get dogs she was gone over two hours i had to be back after 4. 350 I'm texted when will i be there 4, 4:01 430? Attentive, loving environment, emphasis on safe play in the Doggy Daycare. My dogs are very active, 15 months old half German Shepherd and one half Husky. At home when they are bored they eat my furniture, sending stuffing everywhere. They dig holes in the wall-to-wall carpet, take bath towels of the rods and rip holes in them playing tug of war. And they are bored all the time. I have crates and they spent hours in them but it broke my heart to cage them so much. I had to, unless they are being watched, they are about destroying our shoes. We have replaced more than $1,000 in shoes because of our puppies. When I broke my focus five minutes to read my newspaper, they quickly went upstairs and started to destroy expensive furniture. I have worked with two good professional dog trainers, Jim Epperly and Steve Patch. Both said that my young dogs need more exercise. Jim Epperly specifically added that socializing with other dogs would help. Jim also found that the dog treats I was giving t hem were high in sugar. I tried our local Dog Park, but it was dangerous for my puppies, as a man brought a mean big dog there who was so bad everyone else called their dogs and left. One of them telling me to do the same, which I did. A friend of my husband that we had dinner with told me about Elizabeth Wood's Dog Obedience Group, and how being in Doggy Daycare was a joy to her little poodle. That he came home happy and calm. Marion said that Elizabeth is a "my way or the highway" on safety rules, and dogs are indeed, safe in her care. To try her for my dogs. I'm so glad I did! My two dogs are so different now, after just one week! Even after the first day, there was a transformation. They are no longer destroying my home. They are easy to walk. The two dog trainers were right. My dogs needed lots of exercise and to socialize with other dogs. They get both at the Dog Obedience Group. First, before acceptance into her Dog Daycare, each of my dogs went through an extensive interview process as individuals. Then she put them in one of the play areas, and carefully introduced them to one dog. After watching the interaction very carefully, Elizabeth introduced another dog. There was no hurry. Each introduction was allowed as much time as necessary for acceptance. More dogs followed, sometimes in twos and threes, until the ultimate play group was formed. Elizabeth kept the play group under observation during the entire session. My dogs played and played, hearts full of joy, bouncing in the air, sometimes running with other curly tailed sled dogs that looked just like them, other times playing with poodles or very small dogs. When I took them home, they were exhausted. When I took them for a walk, they were calm and not pulling. My bath towels were safe. They finally had had a chance to burn off all that energy, mentally and physically. The second day, Elizabeth showed me that Yuri had already learned the first lesson that she teaches all dogs under her care: come when called. She called "Yuri" and he, who was at the far end of the playground, dropped everything to instantly bolt up to her, stopping at her feet in a sit position. Elizabeth then called dog after dog, by name, individually, and showed me that they all obey her, just like that, coming when their name is called, without hesitation. This is good for the safety of every dog. She has a rare and special talent for communication with dogs. Now that I and my dogs have experienced her place for a week, and it has been so positive for us, I believe that those negative reviewers just didn't understand that their dogs failed that initial individual interview. Reading reviews carefully, now that I and my dogs have had our own experiences, I realize that if the dog might be a danger to other dogs, it never was allowed past that first interview with Elizabeth. The reviewer never mentioned their dog meeting other dogs, because it did not get that far. If the dog is untrustworthy, it will not pass the first interview. Those negative reviewers must not have realized that an interview was taking place. They are upset at the assessment of their dog being negative. If a dog is not well fed, has untrimmed nails, fleas, is not under control with a simple chain collar and leash, these are symptoms of well being that affect behavior. This assessment is for the safety of all dogs in the group. Elizabeth will only allow dogs to join her dog learning and playing community that have a gentle, trainable temperament. My dogs are healthier, with softer coats, than they have ever been, following Elizabeth's nutrition guidence. They are calmer, less needy, and better company now that they have hours of play and friendships with other dogs. I recommend Dog Obedience Group and Elizabeth Woods. read more

I am appalled by the horrific treatment I received from Elizabeth. She started out seemingly nice but overbearing and demanding but after using her a few times she got very nasty and abusive. I have stage 4 cancer and need someone to watch my little baby when I go to chemo. At 6 am she texted me that my dog is a spoiled brat and not welcome there anymore because she was struggling with being crated and forced to eat only raw chicken. The abusive texts continued throughout the day and I had to rush back to get her for fear she would be abused. She mocked my cancer and said poor baby you aren't rational and you only care about yourself and everybody has stress so I should stop just caring about myself. Then she said I was an abuser. I brought my autistic son to drop off my dog once and she yanked his mask off and forbade him from wearing it around her then screamed at him for raising his arms. She said I'm not rational continuously berated me for not starving my dog for 16 days to force her to eat raw chicken. Deplorable. She harassed me all morning until I lost my cool and told her to stop texting me. She blocked my number while she has my dog in her care. I am horrified at her treatment of clients and am afraid for my little dogs safety. She constantly body shames the dog who is NOT overweight calling her obese and asking if she has diabetes yet. I'm truly saddened someone could be so cruel and mean to people that are suffering a terminal Illness and needs help and services. She should be shut down and I will see to it that a formal complaint is filed. And Elizabeth before you respond about god and say something nasty about me I have all the texts to prove how abusive you were to me. I was recommended by a friend to yhis place and this very rude woman states that with her 45 years of working with animals is enough to say that she cannot take in 2 services dogs (pit bulls) while im away. I asked her why? Without skipping a beat she stated "because you wont like me." Under what pretext does someone who you have never met in your life as a professional would say something like this. If your such a professional & have 45 yrs under your belt why would you say this & think that is ok?!?! I would rather you say your over booked at the moment!!! She was my last hope & she truly has let me know that she isnt as professional as she claims to be but that who ever sends their precious pets to her should be very careful. read more
