Canine Case Squad Review Our dog jumped out of a window one day after we left the house for work. We obviously needed immediate help with her separation anxiety, which developed after the pandemic. We got that help from Canine Case Squad. They worked with us, gave us homework, sent written reminders and instructions, and sent videos of us interacting with our dog in their workspace to show us what we were doing wrong or right. They also corresponded with our veterinarian to help coordinate treatment, medication, and training plans. Be prepared to do the homework (practicing the training exercises at home) and be consistent with your dog, and watch the magic happen. I was able to email CCS with any questions I had in between the in-person sessions, and they would respond immediately. And I had a lot of questions at first about whether we were doing our homework properly. Improvements in our dog's behavior include: -No more pulling on the leash. We learned how to use a prong collar, and we now can walk the dog without getting pulled all over or hurting our shoulders. She walks quietly and goes to the bathroom when we give her permission (Just don't forget to give her permission). CCS figured out the right size of collar for us and advised us how to walk her while watching us practice. We never would have gotten past the initial crying and pulling and jumping and nipping that went on during the start of using that collar if they hadn't been there telling us to keep going and just ignore that behavior. After a surprisingly short time, the dog fell in line. It's all about the person's attitude, as trite as that sounds. -Our dog now needs to spend any extended time alone in the house in her crate, instead of having free reign in the house. At first it took a lot to get her in and she would cry, scream, and shake the crate all day. Now we put her right in and she is quiet all day. It may not seem like a lot, but it's everything when you have to hear that crying. -No more rushing through the door. She sits and waits for permission before going in or out of any door. We adopted a Pit Bull mix named Nikki knowing up front that she needed to be an only pet. She is an absolute love with people but reactive to other dogs. Walking her in our neighborhood where there are many dogs was scary because she reacted badly to all of them. I found Canine Case Squad while searching for a trainer to help with my Boston Terrier, Oliver. Although he was always a sweet boy, he had twice bitten people after being startled by their getting tickled and screeching in a high voice. I was worried that we would be walking on egg shells around him or that I couldn't leave him with anyone. Shari had him come for a two week stay. Canine Case Squad is amazing. We adopted our dog Maggie about a year and half ago and from the beginning she had severe dog aggression issues. She lunged and growled at every dog she saw no matter how far away they were, making walks and even car rides super difficult. Maggie loved going to her sessions and when it was time for her in house stay for two weeks we were really comfortable and had no reservations about leaving her since she enjoyed going there and loved everyone there so much. They taught us how to handle it if we do pass a dog and made her more comfortable with dogs being around. Canine Case Squad is amazing! We had taken our rescue puppy to training when we got her at 12 weeks but 2 years later we realized we needed a behaviorist, not just training. Lily is a great dog but has serious social issues and was also developing some skin problems on her stomach. We love her so much but having people over was stressful, going to the vet was stressful, and walking her in public was stressful. We didn't understand how and why we had to worry about our sweet dog in public with strangers. Well, Canine Case Squad figured it out when no one else had answers. After leaving Lily with Canine Case Squad for a 2 week consult (and enjoying a much needed vacation knowing our dog was with someone who would love, understand, and care for her the same way we did) the team figured her out. What we thought was excited pee was really submissive pee. Shari and team realized (through their constant monitoring of her) that every time a human came near Lily, she peed a little on herself which was causing skin problems which made the peeing on herself even worse. Our vet at Goosepond recommended Canine Case Squad to us. We have a 6 year old Cattle dog girl named Bailey, who is the sweetest dog...but only with my husband and I. It was so stressful having friends and family over because Bailey was so unpredictable with nipping and showing aggression. We never knew when she was going to do it. We rescued a 6 month old pit bull that unfortunately immediately got gravely ill. Due to her illness and need for long term oxygen, Miss Daisy's neurological functions were slightly compromised. Miss Daisy developed an extreme case of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder that made both her life and ours chaotic. Daisy's OCD would manifest in the form of running from window to window in our house for hours at a time, whining and barking. In addition, she would jump incessantly on new people entering our home. The best thing I did was to contact Canine Case Squad and ask for help with our rescue puppy. We adopted Holly at 3 months old, and I enrolled her in a group class held locally (not at CCS). She did not respond to the training in a positive manner. She was easily distracted during class and was a mass of anxiety. She would bite me in class, but I was told it was normal puppy biting because puppies bite and chew everything. We persevered and even joined the second set of classes, but Holly did not progress as I would have expected, and her behavior in class and at home was stressful and exhausting. Holly was always a biter and chewer of anything and everything, but she began to bite me more and more. I even had to go to Urgent Care, and the Dept. of Public Health was contacted because I had a puncture wound. At that point, I knew I had to do something more regarding training Holly if she was to stay with us. In no way did we want to give Holly up for another adoption, but our grandson was terrified of her, and I was clearly the target for Holly wanting to show me she was the dominant female. I was desperate for help and I googled and read everything. Luckily I came across Canine Case Squad. I brought Holly for an evaluation session that was incredibly informative. Shari and Cindy observed Holly during various situations, and their feedback gave me much more insight into Holly's behaviors (or lack thereof). Holly will cuddle, our grandson loves to play with her, and she is much more relaxed. I had a big problem, a 165 lb. problem in an English Mastiff named Beauregard. I adopted Beau from a rescue in North Carolina...I had seen his picture and bio online and fell in love with him right then and there. When you bring home a new puppy - you're filled with thoughts of carefree experiences like walks in the woods, days at the beach, car rides and hanging with your canine pup at wineries, breweries and festivals. That's what I envisioned when I brought my 4 month old German Shorthaired Puppy home. I also had visions of her becoming a therapy dog to someday assume my older GSP's visiting schedule. I immediately enrolled her in a daycare program and attended daily obedience classes with her; all my plans were in full motion until one day my beautiful sweet puppy freaked out at a stranger when I picked her up from daycare. I initially shrugged it off -stranger danger - puppies - it happens she will outgrow it. Unfortunately the fear issue intensified; so much so I could not walk my sweet puppy without episodes of barking and thrashing out at passer-bys. Forget having a friend over to the house or a repairman, it was chaos. I tried working with the current trainer but we were not seeing any results. It was then I knew I needed to contact Canine Case Squad. I had worked with CCS in late 2008 after bringing a rescue dog into my home who was having displaying serious separation anxiety with separation - they provided some useful guidance and I am happy to report 10 years later - my boy is doing great. Now back to my current situation, upon our consultation visit, CCS determined my puppy had developed Dominant Fear Aggression. Scary words and when googled and youtube video - even scarier. But Shari and team and CCS assured me that they felt they could help my girl. First course of action - remove her from daycare which we believe was the source of her issues - we believe something traumatic happened at Daycare. The recommendation was for a 3 week Behavioral modification program and some medical protocol. This behavioral modification program involved my now year old friend spending 3 weeks at CCS facility AS well as training sessions for me - to be a more confident leader. Anyone who has a dog knows how hard it is to be away from them for one day much less 3 weeks but I had to try to give my girl a chance at some normalcy. So I packed her up favorite toy - her food - some treats and lots of tissues (tissues were for me) and handed her over to Shari and the CCS staff. While I was unable to physically visit her for 3 weeks I was thankful for the opportunity to view her on a live feed video cam and also to receive weekly drop box videos. At the conclusion of the 3 weeks I was thrilled to see my girl - but apprehensive that I was capable of keeping her improvement moving forward. It has been 1 solid month since her BMP and I am compelled to report the following recent experience. I was driving to visit family in NC - this involved stopping at rest areas, staying overnight in a hotel and spending a few days at a family member's house. ALL new experiences for my Dog. Following Shari and Team's instructions to the "T" - I was floored to see that my girl walked into the hotel lobby without incident - slept on the bed with me without issue and paid no attention to people at the rest areas. When meeting family members and their dogs - we were able to go on a PACK walk within5 minutes of my arrival. My dog who was terrified of strangers - especially men - and aggressive to other dogs - was walking with 3 dogs she had never met and was letting my uncle cuddle with her. We did have a WOOF here or a WOOF there during out stay - but those incidents were quickly resolved by following the correction protocol. I am just so excited to share the milestones made by my girl and look forward to future road trips with her and experiences. read more

Shari, Liz and Cindy are amazing! They thoroughly evaluated my Ma$ey Grey for her reactivity to determine what type of help she needed, in house or working sessions with me and my husband. We did working sessions and I can honestly say after the first session Ma$ey was like a different dog! Before sessions we couldn't walk Ma$ey on a leash she was super reactive after being attacked by another dog when she was younger. At the first session Shari showed us how to hold her leash, correct her properly and how to get her to focus on me and this made a world of difference! Each session we had made Ma$ey better and better. The fact that Shari uses other dogs to help with the training is exactly what Ma$ey needed. The ladies at Canine Case Squad taught me and Ma$ey that she can rely on me to control the situation and that she can ignore other dogs and that we can just have a nice calm time together! My dog Riley recently had a 2 week stay at Canine Case Squad due to severe dog reactivity and separation anxiety. I had dealt with it for several years and just accepted that's how he was wired. Walks were stressful and put me on edge for fear of seeing another dog on the street. I decided to bring Riley for an evaluation and I then understood how stressed out he was and I was only nurturing the negative behavior. After his initial training sessions and 2 week stay, I cannot begin to explain the transformation in him. He has become so well balanced and calm, not at all high strung. Shari and the staff at Canine Case Squad have such a gift with helping to rehabilitate dogs and give guidance and training to the owners. With their help, I have become a more structured owner and my dogs pick up on that as well. I am so grateful they were able to rehabilitate my dog Riley and for showing me the tools to being a better owner/pack leader. Shari and Cindy are remarkable- which is an understatement! We had 'pack' issues with our three dogs, who were constantly fighting (bloody) for dominance. After a couple of sessions observing and inquiring continuously of actions, reactions, and behavioral analysis of the dogs and us - Shari and Cindy set up a structured plan to remedy the main problem of fighting. We put their guidance and homework into action with immediate results. As behavioral experts, they were able to educate us and help us understand the dog's mentality... the dog's lack of respect toward their lord & masters! We continued with more sessions and began to experience a completely different home life. Now after multiple sessions and lessons, we now have the skills necessary to identify and modify the dog's behavior immediately and modify other annoyances (barking, jealousy, manners, etc). Shari and Cindy were extremely knowledgeable, professional, and approachable. I highly recommend their business (services) -- they saved our family and cured a problem, which was headed toward giving up a loving 'fur baby'!?! A few months ago we adopted a 3 year old rescue Chesapeake Bay Retriever, Murphy. We raised our canine companions from puppies previously. We did not realize how much baggage a rescue dog can come with. Murphy had a serious aggression problem, towards people and other dogs. We got a recommendation from our veterinarian to take Murphy to Canine Case Squad to correct his aggressive behavior. That was the best advice! Shari's program is excellent! We go to Quarter horse shows often where there are many dogs and people for Murphy to encounter. Before Shari worked with Murphy and us, we had some serious aggressive behavior instances at horse shows and at home. There has been excellent improvement in Murphy's behavior! We have a 6-year old mixed rescue named Ginny. We adopted her at 6 months, and after a few years, we noticed that she was becoming increasingly aggressive towards new people visiting our home, growling and lunging at people coming into the yard and house. That is when I found Shari and Dan. We brought her in, and Shari and Dan conducted a thorough evaluation. I was doubtful that Ginny would show her aggressive side since we were not at home, but Shari was able to pinpoint what Ginny was going through and what she needed. We sent Ginny to Canine Case Squad for their 2-week in house program. Holy cow. These guys are fantastic. Shari and all of the workers at CCS are patient, knowledgeable, and professional. I felt from the start that she was truly dedicated to Ginny and improving her behavior. The kennel web-cameras made us feel secure, and allowed us to check in on our pup. The cameras that circle the training area allowed us to watch Ginny's progress, and watch the techniques we would use with Ginny once we got her home. It has been almost 8 months since Ginny's visit. My husband and I have seen that she is more relaxed, and has gotten some of her "puppy" back. It is evident that some of the pressure she felt being in charge has been lifted. Shari has given us a procedure for welcoming new guests into our home, and it has worked fantastically. Ginny was great at our last barbecue with friends, and she even did well around one friend who is not really a fan of dogs. She also jumped in bed with one of our overnight visitors... to give him kisses, haha! We learned to differentiate between situations that would allow Ginny to be successful, and situations that would just set her up to fail, and most of all, understand that she is not perfect. She barks at people and other dogs around the yard, she is a dog after all! However, she is certainly quicker to calm down once we thank her for alerting us.
