If you're looking for a window guy in the Hudson Valley, you can stop looking. You've found Dave at…read moreHudson Valley Windows & Siding. I can't express to you what a pleasure it is to deal with him. He's super honest, super personable (has stories for days), and does amazing work. I wish I could say he did some of that amazing work for me, but it's a weird story: Our annoying HOA forces us to keep appearances up with our neighbors. Everything has to be just so, and our windows needed to be energy efficient. Our windows already looked great, but I have to abide by the HOA or else. So I called up Dave to get a quote on how much it would cost to upgrade the windows. We had a great conversation, he knew the area, and the sort of job, and like I said, he was an absolute pleasure to talk to. We picked a day, and he said he'd check it out and give me a quote. After he went out there to take a look, he asked if I wanted to the good news or the bad news. The Good News: The windows were already super energy efficient. He knows because he had put them in himself for the previous tenant a few years back. What a coincidence! The Bad News: He wasn't going to make any money on this job. Which, if you're paying attention, you may realize was also really good news for me. Dave could've just straight up done the job again and made more money (as some dishonest folks would've), but instead but he got a laugh out of me, and a customer for life. I will be calling him for every window job from here on out, and I think you should too.

Our experience with HV Windows Doors and Siding started with a phone call to Dave, we setup an…read moreappointment and met the next week. As with every type of appointment for construction services you normally enter into a conversation hesitant wondering who is this guy, and will he give me a good price, a good job, stand behind work, or just give me a crappy job and run with my money, never to be heard from again. We've all heard the stories. Dave arrived at my home, introduced himself and we talked at great length about our siding project, and he did a walk around the home just to evaluate the job. He came back in, did a little figuring on a piece of paper, and gave us a price on the spot. While we knew not what to expect about the cost, we were somewhat surprised as it seemed a little over what we had budgeted. We talked a little longer and he explained in great detail what was needed and what he was going to do, he explained the funding and how it would work and he left. We thanked him for his time, his explanations, and his proposal and told him we would be in touch. After Dave left my wife and I sat down and discussed the project, the cost, and the timeline, as we wanted to get the project done before September this year. You know that everyone says, "Never take the first proposal, get prices, get multiple proposals, etc". We didn't know what it was exactly, but my wife and I both felt really good about our visit with Dave and so we decided to call him back the next day and enter into a contract. Not to make this review to long, the project was scheduled and actually took place a week earlier than expected. Dave anticipated a 5 day project, and they finished up in 4 days. His guys were like busy bees, only stopping for a 30 minute lunch break each day. Very professional, knew their profession, and did not need constant oversite. Dave's supervisor on the job Louis knew the job and knew the timeline and was sure to make it happen. While Dave was on the site almost every day, I think he thinks of himself as the cleanup crew picking up and taking garbage almost every day. There was no language barrier between the workers and me, and everyone on the job was eager to please. Dave made every effort to assure that the finished project was worthy of our praise, even adding a few things not originally negotiated in the contract. While the project was not considered a large project, it had alot of intricate details that took extra time to work around. My wife and I cannot express enough our level of satisfaction with Dave and his guys. They did what they said they would do, and most likely more that we didn't even know about. Great job, great contractor, and great value for the money. The project was worth every penny spent. I see now why much of Dave's business is return customers. We would/will certainly use him again if the need arises. Not to lengthen this review longer I would only like to add, that Dave is human, he is not a robot and his speech is not rehearsed. We learned alot about his family, his dogs, etc. and we felt he was true to form, just a good guy to work with. Highly recommend. (So much for not making this review too long, oh well) Tom and Alice P.

What I appreciated was that they have a wide selection of materials, at various price points, for most of the aspects of a bathroom or kitchen renovation, in one place. Many stores could say that. What I found so soothing about Cabinet Designers is the staff. They are so knowledgeable, and really responsible. If there are questions, they find the answers. If something goes wrong, they work to fix it; which is not something I've found to be consistently the case in retail businesses. The personal attention they give their clients makes a renovation SO much less stressful. Even though a renovation is always, by definition, stressful.

Located on Rt 28 in Shokan, NY, Door J. worked for several reasons: we knew we were getting solid wood doors, close to home and, we were satisfied with the customer service from the get-go when we first came here to inquire. Plus Door J., has an incredible stock on salvaged doors that come directly from suppliers. They claim their doors are "either overstock, inaccurate orders, or have slight cosmetic defects, but all the products are new and structurally sound". And if you can't find your door here, one will be ordered for you. That's what we did. I love our wide pass-through living room in our new home, but we wanted to have the option of closing it off if we want to- or keeping it open. Barn-styled doors was our go-to. Chris was super helpful the first time we came here and gave us a in-depth rundown about Door J. Do know, this place does not: (1)deliver and (2)install doors- because that's on you or your contractor- if you're using one- which we did. We were also in the market for slider windows for our basement and these folks helped with that. Because Door J. is an Andersen Window distributor, we were even more ecstatic that we could have our cake and eat too by ordering our barn doors AND 5 small slider windows because they seal tightly against air, water and anything else. You can go to Home D. or Lowe's. We're here because products are great and customer service rocks.

I had sixteen very tall, very ugly locust trees standing in my front yard like a lineup of leafy trolls, blocking the light and branches falling on my house every time the wind blows. I called Dave, hoping for a consultation sometime in the next week. He showed up within half an hour. I hadn't even finished my coffee. A few mornings later, I woke up to what can only be described as an elite squad of tree ninjas pulling up with cranes, chippers, trucks, and the kind of quiet confidence that says "We've got this." Every single person on Dave's team was professional, respectful, and weirdly cheerful for people about to take down a small forest. Some went up in cranes like it was nothing, snipping off those hideous branches with precision. Others fed whole trees into the chipper like it was lunchtime. They ground down the stumps, hauled off truckloads of sawdust, and one young man stayed behind to sweep up the driveway and the street like it was opening night on Broadway. And here's the kicker: not a single flower or plant in my yard was touched. It was like the trees vanished in a puff of sawdust-scented magic. All in one day. Also: Dave himself? Charming. Honest. Knowledgeable. Probably part tree (but, like, in a hot dryad kind of way). You can tell he truly loves what he does, and it absolutely shows in the work. If you live in or near Rhinebeck and you've got tree troubles, don't hesitate. Don't Google. Just call Dave. Your trees will thank you. Your neighbors will thank you. Your insurance company will probably name their next child after you.
