He listened to what's important to me, such as scarring. His care went beyond the surgery. He made sure that I recovered and healed properly, so I had several post-op follow-ups. I did not have to fly back to Indiana. Zoom was sufficient, from my own experience. His staff, especially his nurse Jessica, were also very professional and cordial. I felt welcome. His office is very clean and equipped with current technology. Just as soon as I entered his office, I felt right away that the doctor took pride in his profession. I was referred to Dr. Klapper for a couple cysts on my eye. He's only in the Greenwood location…read moreonce/month (I didn't know that initially) so it was a few months to get in. My initial consultation wait was insane! They were so busy they had to take chairs in the hallway. When you are at a doctor for your eyes and already nervous, this sure doesn't make things easier! I had no idea what to expect. The MA (or nurse) inquired as to my purpose for visit and made it seem as though the Dr. may do the procedure same day. This was good and bad. Good that I didn't have a chance to worry about what to expect, but bad in that I didn't have a chance to worry about what to expect (haha). We scheduled the procedure (removal of 2 cysts and a biopsy). Again, because he's only there one/day a month my appointment had to be scheduled out a few months. I was notified by the receptionist that I may have to wait quite a bit. To my surprise, I arrived and was the only one there. I was taken back pretty quickly. The Dr. explained the procedure briefly, but I really didn't want to hear, as I was beyond nervous. It's my EYES so I was terrified. The numbing STUNG and I certainly wasn't prepared. I could smell the burning as they closed off the lesion. I left with a black eye, but overall my healing was pretty breezy. I had some issues pop up in the eye (that were possibly unrelated to the procedure and just coincidental) and the office worked very well with me on reviewing pictures and providing recommendations.

I was referred by Dr. Stanley Harper at the Avon location to Dr. Greg Chernoff. I did my initial…read moreconsultation in July with Jamie the patient coordinator. She took before and after (photoshopped) photos and told me what to expect and we reviewed the costs. If I waited until October or later there was a prospective discount that might be available. I was willing to wait for that possibility. In September an availability became open with the aforementioned discount. Then I met with the doctor, head nurse, and Jamie again at my next appointment. Both Dr Greg Chernoff and Nurse Julie have been doing these procedures that I was selecting for 30 years. I was comfortable with everything they were telling me. My only concern was for the length of time for me personally to heal at that point. I figured it might be longer than normal due to my age. Everybody was extremely helpful and made me 100% comfortable with their process and procedures. Since I lived an hour away, they asked if I had time and we decided to do the the pre-op appointment at the same time. I learned my surgery was going to take five hours which is the longest I've ever been under general anesthesia. During the following week, I was able to get approvals from my primary care physician as well as the specialist that sees me for my worst chronic disease and get her approval too. The anesthesiologist approved the procedure with a weekend phone call. Nurse Julie had called me on the prior Sunday to review a lot of information as well. These people really go above and beyond what I am used to in the medical profession. Dr. Chernoff absolutely goes way beyond any expectations you would have to a point you have to tell your friends and family how amazingly he stands by his statement of "we're going to take real good care of you" which he stated to me several times before my surgery. He came through for me 1000% on everything. On my day of surgery, Wednesday September 28, I left the waiting area and went back to the pre-op bed on time and soon Dr. Chernoff visited me to go over what lay ahead. I had a couple of questions about recovery expectations. Then Dr. Himebstein, my anesthesiologist, came to review my medications, my blood work, and ask questions about my medical history. I did not have any questions for him because he covered everything so thoroughly. I woke up six hours later and Nurse Ellen took care of me for the rest of the day and all night. I was her only patient to take care of. There was one other overnight patient but he too had his own nurse. Soft drinks, snacks , and pain meds were available for whenever you needed them. Dinner was provided by a delivery service from Jimmy John's. I had Teddy Grahams for dessert. In the morning, I got checked out earlier than expected after visiting with Dr. Chernoff again. He again reaffirmed everything wet smoothly and I told him I was happy with the results. As a matter of fact the pain threshold was much lower than I had expected. We confirmed my next appointments for Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday mornings. I ended up checking into the Drury Plaza Hotel, only two stop lights from Chernoff Cosmetic Surgery, on Friday so I didn't have an hour commute every day and needless stress over I-465 daily traffic. I had thought about this plan before the surgery so I was prepared. Corinne, a 15 year employee, saw me every day except weekends and helped me immensely in the office with my post operative recovery on the following Friday, then Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday of the following week. Dr Chernoff referred me to the Hyperbaric Oxygen Clinic for four oxygen treatments which helped with my healing and recovery immensely. I completed the four daily consecutive treatments on Friday, October 7th, as well as nine daily consecutive appointments with Chernoff Cosmetic Surgery on the same Friday. On Monday, October 10th, the rest of my sutures were removed. My healing and recovery are right on schedule. Now I will be seen once a week for the next month, then once a month for a few months. I'm still completely satisfied with the results, and with Dr. Chernoff and his awesome staff! Once I am completely healed, I will upload a new profile photo and you all can tell me what you think (if anyone is still reading my longest review, lol). I seriously didn't know how to…read morefind a great dermatologist and had been to my fair share of average ones, as well as ones that are almost impossible to get in with. This was an awesome choice. Dr. Gerstein's team set up an appointment within a week and were super easy to call and schedule with. The actual office is called Meridian Dermatology. Dr. Gerstein himself was super down to earth, relatable and smart. I had a long list of questions and he was able to answer all of them in simple, understandable ways. I'd done a lot of research on skincare as well, and he was able to debunk and explain every topic I brought up. He didn't seem to be in a rush and was super open and honest. He had a student helping him and she was super sweet and also very smart too. He let her step in and explain a few things and it was clear that she knew her info. They gave me incredible advice and wanted a follow up appointment in a month. In the past, I've felt like some doctors just prescribe pills every time you have a question or problem. Dr. Gerstein did prescribe medication, but we went back and forth about possible solutions and which path is best, etc. I feel really good about the plan we decided on and completely trust him. I explained that I did not recall being told to bring support hose when I met with the physician four months earlier. I was abruptly told by the nurse on staff that I could either buy some support hose sold in the office (which were 4 times the cost of the medical support hose I purchased online) or not have the procedure at which time she walked out of the room. I left and decided to take my cash business elsewhere.

I thought that I was going to be given an ultrasound and he did not mention anything about it. Right away he asked me about my insurance co and said that I have to wear special stockings for 3 months before he could do the surgery. He said right away the surgery is expensive so my deductible will be met. He did not diagnose me but he said that my visit was "FREE" at checkout on their computer for some reason it said that I did have an ultrasound done but I did NOT have it. Then in bag there were stockings waiting for me a whooping $60 charge for medical stockings. They don't charge insurance for some reason and as a patient, it's your responsibility to contact your insurance co and have them reimburse YOU. They ask YOU to pay for the stockings at day of visit. So I paid $60 and thought it was insane price. I trusted them and didn't look inside the bag. During my visit I said that I wanted Beige and NOT black. Came home, took the box out of bag and they were ebony//black.....and I needed a size they gave me was wrong! Next day drove and said "you gave me wrong size and color".... after 15 minutes a woman comes up and gives me a slightly larger box with beige color and says "it's an additional $25" on top of $60 I had already paid! So $75 for the leggings. Again didn't look inside the box... Came home, opened the box with leggings and discovered that they weren't brand new but an opened package looks like someone returned them! WTH? Can't they get anything right? Very upsetting and the doctor's 5 min consultation felt like everything was evolving around money and charges...my insurance carrier, telling me the operation will not be cheap...but did not bother to diagnose me....I feel like I had not received any treatment nor valuable, professional medical advice.

I reached out to make an appointment. I identified several areas of interest (fine lines, volume…read moreloss, and melasma), but the primary interest was a particular peel to treat melasma. The scheduler responded via email with two available times. I emailed back and selected one. I then followed up with another question about the melasma and peel. Flash forward to the date I selected and I drive 25mins to the appointment and was told I wasn't on the books (after a very surprised/shocked look when I walked in the door, which is typical when in spaces where black people are not often present). I was then told that the doctor doesn't treat melasma, which is patently untrue because one of the primary purposes of the peel they offer (per the makers of the peels brochure and website) is the treatment of melasma. So by offering the peel, you are offering a treatment for melasma. Additionally, I had other issues outside of the melasma. But I guess they had no interest in my business for those apparently (which seems very suspicious. Does the doctor not treat melasma or is the doctor uncomfortable treating darker/black skin?). What made it worthy of a one star review however was the fact that the scheduler said, "I called you and told you the doctor does not treat melasma." Ummm, ma'am. You absolutely did not. You did not call, we did not speak. And in turn, you wasted an hour of my time. This office needs to do better.

But the place was great, with a sleek, Carmel-ly feel without being snobby. The facials were actually pretty enjoyable, considering I had paid to get acid put on my face. Wendy, the licensed esthetician, was awesome - professional, super nice, fun to chat with, and paid attention to detail. So far she's the only person ever to send me handwritten thank you notes for being a client. P.S. - The address is on Meridian, but you actually enter the building from Illinois/136th just south of Old Meridian!
