I would like to write a positive review, because Dr. Kanwetz has excellent bedside manners. But I cannot because the billing is fraud.
A few years ago I knew I was being let go from my work. I hastily called Dr. Kanwetz office to get in for an appointment. There were no openings with her, but the scheduler recommended I see Dr. Wright in the same building. So I did. Dr. Wright took 19 x-rays & a full exam. I asked why so many x-rays and it had something to do with the "Standard of care" & it had been 9 years since the last time. I asked if my insurance covered the bill and they said yes and my insurance, indeed, did cover it.
8 months later I make an appointment with Dr. Kanwetz and now I have zero insurance and ask the scheduler that I just want a cleaning, I have no insurance, how much will this cost me? I was told $70 so I scheduled the appointment. I got a bill for $152.?!?! The biller said that it would be below the "standard of care" if Kanwetz did not also give me an exam. The exam was necessary because Kanwetz saw me over a year ago, even though Dr. Wright did.
I asked Stasha, the biller, to ask Kanwetz to reconsider the charge since I was originally told $70 & I made sure before I went in of this price because I do not have dental insurnace, I am unemployed, and I have a newborn! Stasha called back saying that a cleaning would be $100 not $70. Kanwetz gave me a cleaning and an exam which was $152 & told me I had to pay it in full. Period!
It is sad because my hands are tied. If I only pay the amount negotiated before my appointment, I will still get sent to collections. They know it and I do. I can only write this complaint for other's to be aware of the manipulation.
It is the principle of this matter. I feel taken advantage of and apparently they do not care. read more
