Wonderful lounge with good food and courteous, attentive staff. We flew with a Oneworld member airline and stopped by this lounge at 11 AM. It was pretty much empty and we proceed to pour ourselves a glass of champagne before exploring. The noodle bar had counter seatings and tables, all of which were very clean. We order wonton soup and one of each dim sum plate: shrimp dumpling (hargow), pork dumpling (shumai), and BBQ pork bun. Quite decent and fulfilling. After our meal, more champagne... There's a bar with liquor and coffee, a counter with snacks, and a fridge with yogurt flan, and cold drinks. We proceeded to the lounge chairs with a foot rest--direct view to the airport runway; drawers pull out to expose outlets. The lounge got busy around 12:30 PM, but it was still quiet and nice. Staff members were great, clearing our finished plates frequently as we sat and relaxed. We spent 2.5 hours in here and enjoyed everything. Worthy of best lounge in North America.

* What an improvement! * While I mostly enjoy flying Cathay Pacific, the YVR lounge was always a bit of a letdown compared to the other lounges in their network. It had that same old tired steamer of 2 types of dim sum, a few mediocre sandwiches and low quality snack food. It had a separated space for first class from the business class, and all that added was slightly better alcohol and a few snack options. Not a big difference at all. Those times are done. Cathay closed that old lounge and has opened this new one in a different location. They built on the 4th floor between gates 66 and 67, and built a space that is a smaller version of their better quality lounges you find in many airports in Asia. They no longer pretend to separate business and first class, and instead have opted to make a larger space with higher quality offerings for all. The highlight is by far the noodle bar, which is quite similar to the one in the Hong Kong airport business class lounge (they haven't gone as far as to do the full sit down table service and private cabanas like the HK first class lounge, but considering this is a remote station for them that seems just fine). They offer three varieties of noodle soup: wonton, dan dan, and fish ball which are all prepared fresh after you order. They also had a variety of dim sum on the menu that you could also order to be prepared fresh instead of just sitting in a steamer over steaming. I ordered the dan dan noodles, which is prepare entirely vegetarian. After ordering they give you a beeper to let you know when your soup is ready. The soup was presented in a classic styled bowl. The noodles were surprisingly good - toothsome in fact. The broth had the classic peanut, sesame and chili balance and really satisfied. They offer chili oil on the side to increase the heat to your comfort level. (I tend to go less hot when flying, so it was appreciated to have the flexibility.) What an improvement over the food choices they used to have in their old lounge back near the international security entrance. The other soup option available in the international terminal is the Plaza Premium lounge which does freshly prepare fish noodle soup, but I have to say the quality of the soup and noodles here at the Cathay lounge are MUCH better. They also have a small buffet set up outside of the noodle bar where you can grab a variety of sandwiches, meats and cheeses, small desserts, salty snacks, etc. The quality of the catering overall on those is also improved from the ones that used to sit in the fridge at the old lounge. After dining, there were very comfortable leather chairs with ottomans you could put your feet up on looking out over the tarmac and North Shore mountains in the distance to watch the planes land. Each chair had a wooden side table that had a pull out drawer with power and usb power outlets. Nice touch! Overall this is a great improvement to the Cathay service out of YVR. Bravo, Cathay!!!!!!!

We had a layover in Vancouver YVR airport traveling to Yellowknife to see the Aurora. Had Priority Pass access to this lounge and was pleasantly surprised. Located in terminal 2 going towards gates A,B and C. After exiting security checkpoint. Go down the escalator and go left. The entrance is right there. Lounge staff scanned our PP card and boarding pass and we were in! Lounge has a small foot print and was fairly packed. Lots of smaller tables and a couple larger counter height tables as well. Clean restrooms. Hot food was not bad. Steamed rice, pasta, veggie dish, chicken sauté, spare ribs, bread, tomato soup. I decent spread overall. The ribs were very nice and the veggies made it a bit less guilty to stuff myself. Open bar with complimentary bar menu items and some premium (extra cost) spirits as well. Note, they can't serve doubles so just order two or three instead. Self serve Espresso / specialty coffee machine, soda machine and chilled water was available. Dessert fridge with assorted baked goods, cookies, chips and pretzels are served. Staff kept the food items filled and cleared our used dishes quickly. A great option to chill and rest before our connecting flight.

Nice to clear customs with a simple photo and passport scan at Vancouver! The lounge itself was a bit disappointing. Its great if you want to load up on alcoholic beverages or just want to relax and charge your gadgets. But for everything else the lounge is well below average compared to other lounges I've frequented during my travels. 1. Limited food options, and the one hot entree of Lemongrass Chicken has this starchy, thick sauce that was totally unnecessary and hiding the flavor and texture of the chicken. 2. Only one toilet and two urinals in the men's room which is really too small given the occupancy. Only one shower stall too which is laughable. 3. They have a make-yourself salad section, nacho chips, and a few vegetarian and beef wraps that were okay. The one bright spot were the fruit salad and the Nanaimo Bars.

All you literally need to do is cross the street. Immigration was a breeze. I do have to mention that much like other international airports, they no longer stamp your passport. I've noticed that they just do a digital scan of your face and you're good to go. On our exit, I ended up getting some alcohol at the duty free cos they seemed cheaper or at least cheaper.

Our annual trip we take a cruise ship for one night from Seattle, then dropped off in Vancouver. We went bring our passport books only the cards. This was the first time we sailed there. When we got to the airport we only had our passport cards. Even if the passport office convinces you to get the card as well as the book, remember when you fly internationally you can only use the book. The card is only for land and sea. We almost didn't make our flight, but customs were gracious enough to let us through. We will never do that again. Another nice thing is our flight to Seattle is only 30 minutes. It'll say one hour, but in reality it's only a 30 minute flight. It takes long to flight out and land then taxi in. I would've given 5 stars, however this time around was the first time tsa was particular about my cosmetics. I've never had problems going through tsa with my solid body butter, or my balms. I pretty much had to throw away a few of my items. Even though most of the bottles were empty. So I really didn't mind throwing away my half empty toothpaste, my husbands half empty travel size shaving cream, and my almost empty hair freshener. They did give me baggies to fill up as much as I can. This was a first in all my travels 5 times a year domestic or international where I had to toss the same cosmetics I always travel with. Most are travel size. My husband thought gal had a chip on her shoulder because she was yelling at one of her co-workers the same time. So maybe it was a bad morning already. All and all it normally runs smooth at YVR.

Wow, the views are awesome overlooking the airport and watching planes come and go. Our server was really friendly, we explored the menu and made our decision on lunch. They were seasoned on the inside and had the perfect level of salt to bring out the veggie flavors. We waited for 30 minutes, then once we realized our flight was boarding in 15 minutes, I went to the counter to inquire. The cashier asked a woman in the back, who claimed she had already given me a chicken burger. Wut? Told her I did not receive a chicken burger, plus I ordered a BLT and still had the ticket in my hand. She finally made it and brought it out 5 minutes later. BLT was the worst Ive ever had, maybe even the worst *sandwich* I've ever had. Zero mayo, uneven distribution of lettuce, tomato, and bacon, and not enough bacon to make a sandwich (maybe two strips in total). Imagine two pieces of dry toast - that's what the sandwich was, except for the very middle where the slice of tomato, leaf of lettuce, and two small strips of bacon had been hastily strewn. You ever had one of those gas station sandwiches for $4? That's what this was, except it cost $13.
