I made an appointment with Steve for 4:00 yesterday and when I got to his business there was no one there. I called him and he said he had an emergency at home and forgot to call me. We rescheduled for 9:30 this morning and his partner just showed up at 9:55. I called Steve at 9:30 when I first arrived to see that the business closed again. He said he would arrive in 10 minutes. He does a good job on the cats and we as cat owners don't have many choices for grooming but Catastrophe has to get its act together. And as anyone with a cat knows it takes a village to catch a cat and get them into a carrier. read more

Steve did a fabulous job on Biyoo, my high maintenance and diarrhea-cursed princess. Super thankful for the team's hard work, she took 4 sessions and over 8 hours total, but 2 of them were complimentary‍. She looks so much better (has legs now,) and her hair a lot more manageable. The service included paw fur and nail trimming, dematting and deshedding (biyoo had all her baby hair still,) and shaving of the belly and behind. Such a joy to no longer having to deal with wet stools stuck on her hairs, highly reccomend for all those with long-haired cats! read more

I took my two cats to Steven and Devin for grooming. After calling 20 some cat grooming facilities I decided to go to them after going through their reviews and doing my research. I sat with them while they groomed my baby Peanut and Piccolo. They were super gentle with them and also explained how the grooming should be done for the cats as not all cats are the same. They are just really good at what they do. They are good people and run a fair business . I would recommend Catastrophe to every cat owner. They don't rush the process and also educate the owners. I highly recommend their business! read more

Not only was the service on my cat perfect but he is so very patient and truly treats and loves cats like family his skills truly work and makes your cat feel 100% comfortable. He showed us the tools he used and how he bathed her. Another thing I really liked is that we could video chat him whenever to see the process and or give our opinion which was very useful. My husband and I took our two cats, Mochi and Taro, to Steve and Devin. We were both very nervous about the process, but Devin and Steve welcomed us to their place and walked us through the whole process. I learned so much about caring for our fur babies! Our two cats were surprisingly calm. They came home feeling relaxed and their fur also looks and feels healthier than ever before. We're so thankful for you, Steve and Devin! Thank you for caring for these two! read more

Took my 17-year-old kitty to get grooming done for the first time in a really really long time. He is doing so well! He had a lot of knots on him and needed a lot of work. All the knots are gone and he is behaving like a little kitten now. Haven't seen him like this in a really long time! read more

This guy is amazing!! This is a late review but we came in June 2023 with sudden flea in our apartment and he was able to get most of them off of my girls!! One of my girls is great with groomers and the other is an absolute menace. He was gentle with both of my girls and he even recorded himself cleaning them both! 10/10! read more

Amazing amazing amazing. She was fantastic with my two main coons. She was committed to making sure the cats were calm and not stressed out the entire time and would give them ample breaks. She was super kind, knowledgeable, and patient with my fur babies! They had NEVER been groomed before and I was shocked by how calm they were from the beginning. I could immediately see a difference in my cat's coat! Thank you so much! read more

Let me start off by saying: Worth the 1.5 hour round trip drive! Steve and Devin were great. I have a rescued kitten, who is very skittish and afraid of every little noise. They did an awesome job and I was surprised my cat was so calm. He even rubbed his head against Steve when he was bathing him. Steve is an awesome guy with a great personality and a clean heart. Some people may be intimidated by him or entering someone's home, but have no fear - Steve and Devin are both awesome. Once my kitten was finished up, Steve was walking me out, when I realized that I did not even pay him. I looked at my wallet and realized I did not have any cash, and I had no service to use venmo. I then asked him about payment when we were already outside by my car, and he asked me to drive home safe and use venmo when I am home. I don't know of any other person/business willing to do business like this, most places ask for payment up front or in the very least, when you are leaving their establishment. Steve told me, "If we want to change to world, we have to start by trusting each other." Amazing guy, amazing service. Steve is one in a billion. read more

Unbelievable experience. Much better than I even hoped for. Our long hair female Tuxie had never had the opportunity to go to a groomer. Boy did we find the right one. There was an immediate bonding that occurred and Maisy the cat responded. When she got the warm towel wrapped around her she actually fell asleep. When at 2 plus hours she had had enough, no problem, our free follow-up appt is next week. Hey cat lovers, no meds, no restraints, just a lot of love and understanding about how cats work!! Spread the word, these folks are fantastic!! (This review was unsolicited. They're just that good.) read more

Steve and Devin were so great with our lil boy Buddy on his very first grooming ever!! Took all the time he needed , allowing him rest times when he became overwhelmed, were super caring and attentive to his kitty " ques ". Steve was very careful not to cause any stress or pain even tho Buddy had way more and way worse matting then any of us knew. He also made sure to explain exactly what he was doing and even live streamed ,or video chatted the entire grooming with us!! This was our first experience with a professional groomer for any of our babies and I am so happy that I found Catastophe cat grooming read more

Super unprofessional, no clue how the service was because after driving 20 minutes to this place I had to call to find out they were going to be another half an hour. No courtesy call to let me know they were running late. So 40 minutes of my day wasted and my cat stressed out being in the car for nothing. read more

I have a fussy Maine Coon who is 3 years old. I had never groomed her prior to being her to Steve at Catastrophe. Wasn't sure what to expect! His approach was patient and deliberate. My cat is large and super fuzzy, not to mention quite a predator!! Steve did his thing and we got her bathed and conditioned on her first visit. When Trixie, the kitty, began to let us know she'd had enough, and before she became defensive, we stopped. I returned with Trixie few days later for free and finished her up. On the second visit, she was calmer and allowed us the shave her clumps of matted fur. Thank you, Steve! You're a "cat whisperer!" read more

I went in to get my cat groomed about one week ago and I unfortunately didn't have the best experience. I was very excited to take my cat here after I got recommended by a friend but we got two completely different experiences. I was the first appointment of the day and when I arrived, nobody was there. The women who was grooming my cat arrived 15 minutes late. With that being said, their second client came in right behind me and she rushed through my cats grooming. When I picked my cat up, she was not finished what was already poorly groomed. I had to hold my cat down while she literally took the shaver and botched her whole stomach. The stomach was literally shaved disproportional and half of her feet weren't shaved. My cats ears and eyes were never cleaned out. My cat is a Ragdoll, so I was charged $205 before tip for this grooming. One week later after talking to friends, I finally got the courage to write this review. Unfortunately, I will not return as I feel I have been scammed by the woman who groomed my cat. I will never return or recommend this shady place to anyone ever. The service I got was not worth anything -let alone $200. I wish I could get my money back because the service I got was worth nothing. I have already taken my cat to another groomed to fix the terrible job they did on my cat for over 200 DOLLARS. I am eager to hear feedback from the owners after my poor experience - seeing they have a good response time. read more

I can't say enough about Steve and Devin. My cat is 21 years old and unable to care for herself like she used to. I did not, like many, know that matting of the fur can be painful for animals! I searched for a groomer that did cats and found Catastrophe! Setting up the appointment was super easy. When we arrived, Steve asked what kind of music my cat listened too and he put it on. I got to spend time while they bathed her and got her comfy for the long hours ahead. Steve is very in tuned with the cats, once they show any sign of distress, he gives them a break. So you need to understand the process: it takes hours and even sometimes days for Steve and Devin to work on a cat depending on the severity of their matting. Steve and Devin are transparent and stream most of the grooming sessions on social media, so I was able to watch my cat as they groomed her! It was amazing...I told my coworkers and family, who also watched live. My old girl has to come back for a followup because she is very thin, with lots of mats... Steve was able to get most of them out! He showed me how to slowly get the mats out of her sensitive areas (inner legs) and it took me a few sessions at home, but I was able to completely remove them. Steve is very passionate about what he does and RESPECTS the cats he works with. He will not put them in any situation to hurt or stress them out. I was lucky to watch him work on heavily matted cats and I was awestruck. I could watch him everyday. Now before you go, understand Steve is one of a kind and eccentric. Devin is my sweet and nurturing while assisting Steve. They are the grooming duo! I promise you, if you travel near or far to get your cat groomed, you will not be disappointed! read more

100% would recommend. This is a small buisness run out of a garage which made me apprehensive at first, but I trusted the reviews and I'm glad I did. I live in Oakland, and couldn't find reputable cat groomers anywhere when I stumbled across Catastrophe. All the good reviews are true! I have a Maine Coon mix (Lionel Ritchie) and he had mats along his sides and rear legs. I couldn't get them out no matter how hard I tried. I made an appointment with Steve and I was pleasantly surprised by how GOOD he is with cats. He makes an effort to make a connection with them one-on-one, is gentle with your fur babies, and knows what he's doing. He also educated me on some ways to manage his undercoat. What's more awesome is that if you want to get coffee or can't stay, Steve goes live on Instagram and talks to you throughout the process. So cool! Also, cats are so finicky. If he senses they're overwhelmed, he'll reschedule for a follow up with no extra cost. Devin is awesome as well! She's a major help in the process and both of them make you feel like your little one is in good hands. Steve is the GOAT for cat grooming. I just wish there were more of him so I didn't have to travel so far. read more

It was the most profesional place I've been to. Steve knows so much how to take care of cats during their stressful spa day. This was my Persian first time ever to be groomed he gets so scared at home. I don't know what he does my Persian had no problem at all just let him shave him cut his nails blow dry him. It was crazy for my cat first time. You got my business for as long as I own car that's for sure. I feel so safe to have you groom him and leave him. Steve is the coolest easy to talk to about your cat and tips on how to do maintenance cleaning at home. I highly recommend Catastrophe Cats Thank you Steve my cat looks and smells so good. read more

After months of looking for a cat groomer EVERYWHERE, I found Devin and Steve (Catastrophe Cat Grooming) on the Nextdoor App and couldn't have been happier. Steve and Devin were so nice and gentle with my Persian cat (Penelope). Even though she is a sweetheart she tends to be a little shy and I was afraid she was going to be too scared to let them groom her. Steve and Devin made her feel like she was at home and her 1st grooming experience couldn't have gone any better. I'll be taking my Sphynx cat next and I'll for sure be a returning costume read more

This is my second review. I just have to thank Steve for being such a great groomer, always going above and beyond. We brought in our tiny cat Bella for her regular grooming appointment and brought along Chief, our 17 year old maltipoo for a nail trim. When Steve learned we were going on a trip and had to leave Chief with a babysitter, he decided he couldn't let Chief go the way he was looking and gave him a full grooming. I have had zero luck with finding a groomer who is willing to groom Chief because of his age and because he's a bit fragile. So Chief was definitely due a nice groom so I was so appreciative that he offered to groom Chief even though he mainly does cats. I learned Steve has been grooming both cats and dogs for over a decade. Chief came home with a skip in his step because he was so fresh and so clean. Very grateful mama over here read more

I made an appointment for Sunday 25th through their website. I confirmed multiple times through their automatic messaging/email and was looking forward to the appt. I took my new rescue here and I don't think she had ever had a bath. She was covered in thick dander and a ton of fur that needed de-shedding. The procedure took about 1.5 hrs and my cat had silky soft smooth fur that smelled great afterwards. The methods used are definitely different from what I have seen with other groomers. My mother was a pet groomer, so I certainly have seen my fair share. The groomer has a way with cats and is able to bathe them without restraints (other than a head piece that helps with loud noises like blow drying). He also pours water on them by hand on the counter rather than in a cold sink. He also has a cute dog named Shark Face that is a pleasure to pet and hang out with. Would recommend. read more

Catastrophe Cat Grooming I took my cat here as he was in desperate need of grooming after discovering he had fecal matter matted around his rear. It is nearly impossible to find a cat groomer but a simple Yelp search led me to Steve and Devin of Catastrophe. The online booking process was super easy to navigate and I was able to get a same day appointment. After reading many positive reviews and checking out their Instagram page, I decided the drive to Mountain House was worth it. The grooming service is based out of their personal residence located in a safe neighborhood but note there is limited Wifi service in the area. Steve and Devin lead me through the process of how they wash and dry the cat, and were very gentle in handling my baby (note, no restrains/harness/leashes are used). All products used were safe and clean and they even had a Dyson blow dryer to dry my cat with!! My cat was booked for a 3 hour groom (I had reserved for medium matting as I was not sure how severe the matting was and how my cat would react to the groom). About midway through I was told I could leave if I like, or stay, and they would contact me when my cat was ready. My cat was very compliant so the groom was done in just under 2 hours. Note your cat will be given breaks throughout the process which is very important so as not to stress the cat. When I came back to pick up my baby, I was again led through where he was at in the grooming process and Steve also did a thorough check to make sure all matts were taken care of and that I was happy with the final result. I was amazed to see Steve roll my baby on his side and with a simple, easy clip, nail trimming was complete. He even gave a guarantee of a 7 day window, if I wasn't happy with the result, or if he had missed something, I could bring my cat back and he would fix it for free!! A professional invoice was sent to me by email, and I was trusted to leave, pending payment once I arrived home. Steve's business is about trust, and his techniques work because he establishes trust with your cat. He also kindly assisted with putting my cat back in his carrier and carrying him to my car, and followed up via text to see how my cat was doing once we got back home. It is now 6 days since my cat's groom and he still smells great and his coat is sooooo soft!! I am looking forward to bringing my other 3 cats soon, just so they can enjoy the special treatment and smell good like their brother!! Steve also mentioned he would be able to discount multiple cats!! I highly recommend Catastrophe Cat Grooming and recommend you trust Steve and Devin with your cats! read more

Steve did an awesome job! My Paisley is an older cat and her grooming habits have been declining. First off, I have a very fluffy Persian Cat that always ends up with really matted fur. I always struggle trying to find appointments that fit my schedule, as many groomers in the area only do cats on certain days of the week. At CATastrophe they solely focus on grooming cats. Steve has a very unique approach when grooming cats, he really takes into account making your cat feel comfortable and helps lower their anxiety throughout the grooming process. Steve communicates very well with his clients and offers exceptional customer service. I was very impressed with his work on my cat Simba, I'm definitely going back. read more
