Parents considered it a diamond in the rough, a hidden gem, and therefore it attracted students from up to 30 minutes away! It was recently sold and renamed to Sunny Hills Montessori Academy, but heart of the school has remained the same. There is a chicken coop and a garden on campus (where children are encouraged to explore caring for animal life and growing their own food), weekly Spanish learning, dress up days, summer camp, and more! The children enjoy vegetarian meals with an emphasis on healthy, whole fruits and vegetables. They are still outdoors most of the day, but the indoor classrooms are just as robust with a wide array of hands on activities. The teachers are not just standing around babysitting, but actively engaging each student in opportunities to learn and grow and sharpen their developing minds. From potty training, to handwashing, and encouraging self-reliance, this school is 100% dedicated to the whole human. With a diverse staff & student base, supportive parents, and a loving director keeping it all running smoothly, truly, it is worth checking out.

When I came to Big Sky Preschool it was owned and operated by different people and in the time I was there is was sold to the now owners. Prior to the sale Big Sky was a dream, as soon as the transition to new owners began things immediately started to change despite being promised they wouldn't. To start this school has slapped the name Montessori on their name but are not actually accredited. Second they lied to parents and withheld to let parents know about construction that was occurring on property while class was in session. Be sure to research the school as they have a a type B citation because of the way they chose to handle the upgrades to the space. Furthermore this school chose to terminate the care of my child because I was vocalizing my concerns and questions and the owners refused to ever meet with parents. Lastly, they terminated her care on a Monday upon arrival, I had no back up for work it was very traumatizing for us all. The owners sent an email at 1am to the "Director" Lucita, whom also is known to yell at students and be the least gentle if you ask me, whine then just printed the email out to me and handed it to me with my stuff. The email claim I made baseless claims about the school. Obviously not so baseless since they were cited for putting the kids at risk with the construction that took place there. If you are looking for a play based school that actually cares and isn't cold and clinical like this school Che k out You're Invited. They are amazing and took me in during this traumatic experience.

You've got the "blind leading the blind" there and absolutely NO parent/teacher communication whatsoever. You have to pry information on how your kid did in class for the day. The preschool is the "cash cow" so they don't care if you like it there or not...You can address your concerns until you're blue in the face, they won't be taken seriously nor will the staff listen. Save your time, money and energy and put your kid elsewhere. P.S. No, I am not a miserable parent. We had 2 kids here and "stuck it out" after Mrs. Jones left. My little one has been there for over a year, when he started he was not potty trained and his first teacher was Ms. Patty. She was great, she was always so patient, kind and loving with him. She was a huge part of his potty training. Ms. Melissa was the first to receive him every morning, when it was difficult for him to stay since he was getting to know them. She has always been so patient and kind with him and all the kiddos. Once he moved to the preschool group with Ms. Claudia, he was a little hesitant like any kid would be when there is change in their routine. But he adjusted quickly, she made him feel comfortable with her kindness, silliness and the way she is playful with him. And now comes home and tells me what he has learned from Ms. Claudia. I can definitely see his growth and how much he has learned. I especially love to receive photos of the activities my son is doing during the day. And what can I say about Ms. Marlene the director she always has a smile on her face and has always shown how much she cares for the kiddos. Always willing to help with any questions or concerns. All the staff at Sierra Preschool are truly wonderful! My family is truly lucky to have found Sierra Preschool!

Unfortunately, I cannot say that it has been a positive experience throughout her attendance because there have been several challenges amidst a few "good months". Initially the site seemed inviting and welcoming but we soon discovered that this center was largely focused on quantity over quality, numbers over value or the importance of establishing interpersonal relationships with clients/families. While we understand children's temperaments and personalities vary, we feel that several teachers/ members of staff did not demonstrate the capacity, grace or patience to work with children effectively (at least not ours). We were constantly called away from work to pick our daughter up for nuances and incidents that we felt could and should be handled by skilled/trained staff. Coincidentally there were rarely incident reports when our daughter was in the receiving end. Our daughter is very intelligent, inquisitive, confident, outspoken and decisive, she's quite vocal about how she is treated & independent but this was often misinterpreted as a negative behavior and observed as problematic. We as parents' worked diligently to address any/all issues that could be addressed concerning behavior but ultimately observed that as she was continuously being disciplined and her negative behaviors highlighted' we observed her slowly lose her spirit, zeal, fervor and enthusiasm to attend. At best, we dis-enrolled her because we don't want to curb her enthusiasm or change the trajectory of her scholastic experience at such a young and impressionable age. We would like her free-spirited demeanor, creativity, and exploration to be cultivated, supported and encouraged wherever she journeys next We are grateful for the opportunity for our daughter to have attended, garnered the friendships and interactive skills she has.

I love this child care center :)…read more My daughter went there for one year, and then we changed her school due to a big move from Riverside. All the teachers and staff were so patient and supportive with my daughter and even us as she started the school process. My daughter felt safe and started to engage in the activities. After a few months, she loved the teachers and even played with some of the kids. She still talks about the good memories from the school and she misses the teachers. Although 2 teachers were unchanged from the beginning until the end of June (best point), the only negative point was the rate at which new teachers were joining the class or moving to other classes. All of them were so kind and nice, but I would have preferred to have a class with 3 consistent teachers for the full year. Again I'd like to thank the Temple Beth Team.

This review is not for the teachers, but for the administration and their lack of judgement. I've…read morehad 2 of my kids attend and the 1st time around we had a good experience. We thought this would be the same when we enrolled my youngest son at 2 years of age. At 3 it was determined he had a receptive and expressive speech delay. This was communicated to management and my sons teachers. We were very open and shared what we were doing to help him (twice a week speech sessions and trying to get him into an early education program through our school district). There was an issue with him leaving the class room during transition of half day kids. He was able to bypass the teachers, parents coming in and out, and made it to the front gate. Luckily a parent stopped him and alerted staff. To sum up a long story, management pretty much blamed my son for not understanding safety by not opening the gates - granted he is 3 years old. They warned us if there was another incident they would have to terminate his enrollment. 1. The class room baby gate was broken/loose and could easily be opened by any child 2. How was he able to make it to the front gate without the teachers noticing 3. Why would they blame a 3 year old for not understanding safety. They told us they would see to securing the classroom gate and/or replacing it. A few months went by and they made no improvements to the gate and another incident happened where he tried to escape from the gates. They pretty much terminated us on the spot. Let me remind you, he does have a receptive speech delay meaning he has difficulty understanding language. After reminding them they did not fix their gate, the very next day they installed a 2nd gate...kinda too late for that. I reported this incident to their licensing department and they were sited with lack of child supervision. I find it very sad and upsetting that Tanya took no blame in this and that her solution to ensuring my sons safety was to terminate his enrollment. However this turned out to be a blessing in disguise because he is now in a child care facility that actually thinks outside the box and the teachers are amazing, compassionate and really care for your child. Temple is good if you have a normal easy going child. However, if your child is a little more active, or has a learning disability this is not the best place.
