I joined Planet Fitness this past week. Though I've only worked out three times, I'm very impressed…read morewith their business model. This is a high-quality gym for a very reasonable price. The benefits of the Black Card membership convinced me to go with that plan. It's about 20 bucks a month, with a $40 once-a-year membership fee which is taken out sometime in June. You can also bring a guest with you every time you work out if you have the Black Card. This is extremely valuable to me! One of the best things is the sheer number of pieces of equipment. You never have to wait for a treadmill or elliptical. I go during the busiest times (right after work on weekdays) and there are always at least 2 machines available. The locker rooms are a blessing. They could be a little bit bigger, but they are CLEAN and smell good. This is really important to me. There are plenty of showers and they provide 3 hair drying stations. The fact that they're open 24 hours a day is fantastic. The staff seems pretty friendly as well. I haven't yet used the tanning or massage facilities, but plan on checking it out soon. I have a couple of things that rub me the wrong way, however. One is the "lunk alarm". This siren goes off if someone is demonstrating "lunkism" or showing off, loud grunting, throwing down weights, etc. This gym prides itself on its inclusiveness and "you belong" and "no judgement" are plastered everywhere. This alarm seems hypocritical, don't you think? In the same vein is the fact they serve pizza and bagels on every first Monday and Tuesday of the month. I mean, how bizarre...? What? I don't even... There are also candies over-flowing at the front desk. I guess it's job security, in a way... reminds me of providing wine coolers at AA, though. Nonetheless, it's a good fit for me and I'm pleased about this investment. I have already recommended it to others.

There is usually no parking at all and if the adjacent park is closed for the season I have no idea where you are suppose to put your car. This is the one major downside of this location. The facility themselves are quite clean albiet crowded at times on the weekend. There isn't too many places to sit down and wait for your kids to finish class. The pool itself is also smaller than other pools we have been to at other YMCA in Illinois. Overall I am happy we have not gotten a YMCA membership as it is not cheap and I can only imagine how it continues to be very crowded during the course of the week.

Eventually, I dropped the YMCA and now this is my main workout place. The workouts are structured so there is floor/weights, treadmill and rolling machine. This is done all I in one hour. The instructor guides and illustrates each exercise and monitors the class. If you need assistance or are doing it wrong they assist you personally without any judgement. The downfall is it is very expensive. If I hadn't locked into the Introductory prIce I probably would not even think of trying it. The long term benefits are worth it.

I normally go around 9 or 10am and I've never had to wait for any of the equipment. The staff is very knowledgeable about all the machines and very happy to teach you techniques and how to get the most out of your workout. The other patrons were friendly and conscientious about wiping down the equipment when they were done. If you've been searching for a gym, this is the place to go!

They have the absolute best cycling class you've ever been to. Literally, I'm not exaggerating. I feel like I know what your thinking....she's a little excited, this one. Well, I am! Let me tell you a few things. Besides spin/cycling, they offer other bomb classes as well. Barre class, a BoxHIIT class and Bootcamp. They have childcare for your littles as well! There isn't a workout I haven't enjoyed since starting at Triumph. I thought for sure I wouldn't sign up for there unlimited package, but here I am. SIGNING UP FOR UNLIMITED, haha!! and better yet, I'm so glad I am. The cycling bikes are better than any bikes I've ever been on. Every instructor is OUTSTANDING. You can tell from every little detail that this place was more than well thought out. The app to book your classes, beyond amazing. I cannot compliment their app enough. Everything is crazy easy. The customer service, amazing, the gals at the front desk, amazing. Every instructor brings the heat! The playlist are SO good.
