Pure Movements is so welcoming and not only is a wonderful place to do pilates but also feels like a close knit gym even when its your first few times going. Everyone is so easy to talk to and friendly from the teachers to the other students. From the teachers taking the time to say everyones name when they come to class and welcome them, to staying after to answer questions. The ability to see us work and know when to push us and freedom to ask questions while we do it separates this studio from many other places. As many of us are time crunched getting a good use of your time in the class no matter what the class is for is wonderful. The teachers have slightly different approaches and pace depending on the class and class level but the cues and the moves are the same. This allows you to grow from level 1 upwards as you progress in your practice and not get bored. Its also really helpful to have the different teaching styles because I might pick up something from one class that I had missed with the other but it knits together to make it fun and fresh. The teachers are extremely knowledgable and skilled on body challenges providing alternate movements when needed. For me personally, I went from having severe back pain to no longer having pain as they helped me strengthen my core, increase my awareness of how I hold myself in space and elongate my spine by how I sit. Just yesterday I was telling a very fit woman at my weight lifting gym that she needs to get there and take a class when she shared she had back pain and nothing had seemed to help. Pilates also has helped my ADHD by getting me to stay focused on breathing and listening to the cues. After class my body feels great and my mind refreshed. Pilates at Pure Movement is a great compliment to lifting weights, running and/or making you be more able to travel without pain for long trips in a car or on airplane. I could not recommend this studio enough. read more

I knew the power & benefits of pilates. Years ago, I had been introduced to mat pilates, but Fibromyalgia has been with this body for too long. I also began to notice a lack of strength. If you want to change your body or heal body & soul, then Pilates & the Pure Movement staff & studio needs to be part of your self care prescription. Ms Tresa worked with me, even during the height of Covid, until I could join group classes. At that point, all the staff welcomed me. They encouraged me & adjusted movements as needed. I joined Pure Movement back in November 2016. I am an Ovarian Cancer survivor desperately trying to get my strength back after enduring 6 abdominal surgeries in September 2014 through May 2015. I was having difficulty with my stamina, and my core strength was non-existent. I started out taking private lessons with Tresa Meussling, owner of Pure Movement Pilates. I explained my health situation with Tresa, and my physical limitations. Tresa was so patient and knew exactly how to work within those limitations. After 6 or so private lessons, Tresa was confident enough in my progress to recommend group classes. I was a bit reticent transitioning from the 'safe' private reformer lessons to the big world of group reformer classes. Tresa was right; she knew i'd thrive in group lessons, and I have. I have gained a whole new confidence in my strong cancer-free body!! Every teacher at Pure Movement offers a different style and flair to their reformer class. I love the varied, eclectic styles they all offer. If a student needs TLC because of a bum knee, sore back, etc., the teachers always offer modifications. I am never bored in class. My fellow classmates are kind and inclusive. I look forward to driving 30 minutes - YES - 30 minutes to attend class. I have never driven that far for any other exercise class. In closing, I am so happy I found Tresa and her wonderful studio. I am a lifer! On a side note, the Idlehour Boutique is so adorable. Annie and her helpers are so kind and offer personal attention when choosing a new pair of yoga leggings, or an entire 'athleisure' wardrobe. They offer beautiful scarves, jewelry, tote bags, sumptuous candles, casual yoga/pilates socks/shoes, etc., etc., etc. You definitely want to allot time to peruse her fashionable boutique. I began taking Pilates at Pure Movement when I retired about 4 years ago and the consistent work has changed my body and my spinal health. With a lifelong scoliosis issue the Pilates classes have allowed me to completely strengthen my core and prevent anticipated back surgery and pain meds. Instructors are incredibly knowledgeable and classes are varied, challenging and fun. Pure Movement is a warm, accepting and encouraging studio and equipment is excellent. I'm in my 60's and it's the best workout I've ever had. I thought that as many muscles that get worked that I'd get really sore, but I felt great. Pilates is the best form of exercise I've ever had.
