My electrical issue became a blessing in disguise as I finally find my new "go to" electrician. My girlfriend and I bought a brownstone condo in Back Bay, Boston last year because I loved the history of the neighborhood... unfortunately, historic houses come with historic electrical systems. Our outlets would constantly trip and others never worked at all. I wanted to call electricians in the past but I would read reviews and get analysis paralysis and fear working with someone dishonest or in over their head. So I managed with being my own destroy-it-yourself YouTube electrician until tonight when several breakers completely died. That's when we called A1 Dependable Electric. We reached out to Mr. Wingert at 7:30pm and he arrived with his coworker within an hour. Right off the bat, he was extremely personable and made us feel at ease. He diagnosed the problem in minutes and gave an upfront fair quote for the work that would need to be done. He walked us through everything he was doing and returned quickly when the task required some additional specialty parts that he had to run out for. In addition to the work he quoted, he also fixed a broken GFCI outlet, unclogged our disposal, and fixed the panel to the breaker which was previously painted shut and broken. The guy was a fixing machine and everything he touched got better in some way. It was just awesome to watch someone who truly knew what they were doing put the same care into your home that you would put yourself. I will absolutely be using A1 Dependable again and would recommend others do the same.

All he had to do was to replace 3 working legal smoke and carbon dioxide combined brand new alarms (Kidde) that I bought from Home Depot before i requested an inspection from the fire department before I sold my house. He refused to install what I bought and insisted on installing a cheaper brand of his own. It took him less than an hour as all wiring was working and in perfect condition. I asked him to give his business address that he refused but showed me his Electrician license. and he asked if I can pay cash to which I agreed. Knowing that I am an old feeble widow living alone he took the maximum advantage and gave me a bill for over $3000.00 for a job that any handy man could have done within an hour but the realtor needed the alarms changed by a licensed electrician. When I questioned about the bill he asked for my check book grabbed it and wrote the amount by himself. Could not bargain because he refused to accept a lesser amount and he remained at my house threatening until I signed the full amount. Do NOT hire him he will start with "sweet talk" and he calls himself " Richie" but that may be an alias. Do not hire anybody without an estimate upfront but I had to because the appointment for inspection was the next day .

Larry had told me that there were only white fixtures in stock; so, when they arrived I didn't check them. As the electrician installed them, one was bronze! I called Larry immediately. When my electrician took it out of the box, the round lamp has a round baseplate. The baseplate is slightly larger than the lamp post so slightly overlaps and looks stupid. It's too late to return it. And too expensive to throw away. With all the other advice I received - I wish I would have been told that you can't put a round lamp on a square post. It was an expensive lesson.
