Absolutely cute souvenir shop with cute coffee mugs, men and women's clothing & Catalina Island branded products & so much more, with a variety of price points! Cozy Fabric: In October, Catalina Island can get pretty chilly at night time! Before quickly walking over to the movie theater, I stopped at this cute store and picked up a fuzzy-wuzzy sweater jacket to keep warm & it totally worked! Even cooler, the sweater jacket is reversible, and it felt like a warm blanket wrapped around me! I was super happy & very warm!

Not your typical printed embossed stuff, mind you, but old-school embroidered. I found one design I particularly liked on a sweatshirt (not the season for one where I live, but it was perfect). I brought it to the register where I met Dina. When I mentioned how pleased I was about the quality of the embroidered work, she smiled and explained they were embroidered "in the back." I was impressed. We continued talking and I mentioned how much I loved the unique designs, nothing I'd seen anywhere. She smiled even more and admitted she'd designed them! I asked more about how (I do some graphic design work) and turns out she does them by hand. By hand! Not using modern technology, but true art. Please, if you visit Catalina Island, check out this shop. It's the middle storefront at the Hotel MacRae, the sign was missing on my visit. Buy one of Dina's embroidery designs. Buy several. Our visit to the island was amazing and we will be back. Each trip I intend to bring home a Dina original.

Check in is supposed to be at 3p but Jim was kind enough to let us leave our luggage and get our room ready by 1230p. As we arrived up the stairs to our room, we had to unlock the tiny lock and slide the door open. The room had very little space to walk around. The view outside the room was spectacular. There's no screen on your window so beware of bugs. There was only one channel provided on the mini TV. The bed was uncomfortable but we didn't mind since it was a one night stay. The shower head was surprsingly strong BUT there was no shampoo or conditioner provided. The bathroom was also very cramped so be mindful of your space when toweling off. The toilet paper was see-through thin so watch out for that haha. The noise wasn't too bad but I slept over on a Sunday night so it wasn't crowded. Tips: -There's a small discount for bringing your own towel. -Stay here only if you are the type of person that is out exploring most of the day -Bring your own shampoo, conditioner, 2 towels, hair dryer Enjoy the island life! ~

I was impressed that the t-shirts ranged from youth x-small (age 2-4) up through x-large (age 14). Catalina Kids has some original t-shirts designs with mermaids, sharks, buffalos, and fish that make for fun souvenirs, gifts, and mementos from your trip! They have some cute jewelry and stuffies as well. The shop keeper was friendly and offered to help put away shirts and get other sizes for me. The t-shirts are a bit on the pricier side at $18-$22 for a single shirt, but they seem like good quality and original designs. Overall, I enjoyed the selection of t-shirts for my daughter and nephew and I had a hard time just picking one shirt for each kid--I was tempted to get more!

Great LOCATION, 3-7 minutes walk to beach and restaurants - but then, Catalina is very small so you can say that any other place would offer the same thing. The "Cottage" looked cute and promising from the outside. It had a cute fridge that proved helpful. The inside .... Old, sad, super basic with no attempts whatsoever to lighten it up. The beds were comfy there was AC, so that was good. But you truly felt as if you were inside a bad make shift box with two beds , a tiny tiny moldy shower. A tiny vanity with a tiny mirror. The bedroom space was clean, but the tiny shower was very uncomfortable. If I was the owner of that place I would add a cheap full length mirror, add some shelving for bags , a picture, I dunno something to make it more comfortable and mostly important clean that shower mold lines. The lobby offered good coffee. This place has potential to be better, but does it want to?
