Seeing giant sea basses, eels, octopuses, and the incredible Catalina kelp forest during our dives made the experience unforgettable and turned every lesson into an adventure. Note that during this time of Covid19, y'all really need to hustle in and out of the water, just don't hangout on the stairway blocking everyone else whom is trying to get in and out of the water...nobody wants your Covid germs!

No boat dives available, all full. I haven't dived since the pandemic and last dive was in The Maldives and I told David all this but we both came to the conclusion I could join the group dive on Sunday. Fast forward to Sunday and I show up at 9:30am for my 10am dive. All the staff here are really great and very helpful. Since I came early, I got a tour of where all the equipment are housed and shown where the bathroom and showers are. At 10am, the dive master returns from the 8am dive and introduced himself to me. Joel was one of the best dive masters I have ever had, super patient and knowledgeable. Since I haven't dived since 2019, I'm supposed to take a refresher course, but both David and Joel sized me up, and let me do the group dive. I was a bit rusty but things came back quickly once I had all my gear on, mask, BCD, regulator, tank, weights. We went down to 59 feet and definitely swam thru a lot of kelp forest and saw some fish but nothing too mind blowing. Mother Nature does her thing. While $130/tank isn't exactly cheap, I'd say for the gear, the special attention/refresher I received and even letting me go on a group dive when they could have easily said no, it was all very worth it for me. I opted to not dive a second tank given the water conditions (not as clear as I would like) and it just being a lot of people and the water was too cold honestly. I was in a 7mm and still really cold. Id definitely book this dive shop again and will return so I can dive the cavern wall over near Two Harbors. It was so nice to have four wide hours in which to explore, there was no clock ticking on our rental. we got a nice long paddle in. Snorkel gear is one price for the day. Pitts was enormously helpful as we grilled him with questions about where to go and the best snorkel spots, the staff walked us through everything from loading our boat to putting us out to sea. We followed Pitts' advice and checked out some really amazing coves, we snorkeled with sea lions, saw beautiful fish. We got the boat back early and took the snorkel gear out right in Descanso and saw a world of sea life. Personable crew--we felt like they would have our backs if something came up. Nothing was stressful about the rental which is what you want on vacation.

Easy walk pulling the Zayaks to Lover's Cove via the supplied dollies. $20 each for 90 min is a smoking deal! Bring frozen peas and you're all set.

We went back again last week and I'm so glad; we had such a blast on the zayaks with the fish!! We rented 6 sets of gear and they gave us free fish food- the fish were incredible it's one of the best snorkel adventures I've ever experienced. I highly recommend this for your Catalina experience. The staff is so friendly & helpful.
