I flew to GA to help my nephew with settling an estate. The house had been empty awhile and the washer leaked water onto the floor, items on the floor, the walls, and more - black mold set in. The crew from CAT Recovery Services were very professional and carefully took out the wet sheet rock and insulation. They also sprayed mold retarded over the wet areas and added dehumidifiers and plastic coverings to reduce the overall dust from the removal. Alan and his team at CAT Recovery services saved us after a dirty toilet water leak and flood. And they did this on Sunday morning while other companies were still sleeping in. Talk about panic. It was Sunday morning and we were planning on having a quiet Sunday after a brutal work week when my kid announces there is "brown water" flooding the downstairs and it came from the ceiling AND and the entire contents of the closet were all soaked. CAT recovery services came in like the Calvary. Alan and his crew tore out all the affected drywall, carpeting, and carpet padding AND THEY TOOK IT ALL AWAY!!! I didn't have to clean anything. I didn't have to dispose of any debris at the dump. Because of the disinfectant they sprayed I didn't have to smell toilet water at all. Contrarily, it was the sweetest smelling part of our house for a week. All I have to do is deal with the insurance company and cat recovery services is going to help me with that too. I had a water damaged wall that needed attention and called CAT after reading their yelp reviews. If I could do it all over again, I would have chosen someone else for my job. Here's a summary version of my review with a more thorough one to follow... The work got done, but I wasn't completely satisfied, it took a long time, communication was bad, and appointments were missed... Just a lot of over promising and under delivering all around. The first person I communicated with was Mark. I liked Mark because he was polite and let me know what I could expect from the teardown of the wall and the reconstruction. He did miss an appointment with me though with which is a huge pet peeve of mine. He made good on it and came back soon after, but even then I had to text him a few times to clarify when I could expect him. Mark sent a crew out and they did a really good job tearing down the damaged area. They left a dehumidifier to dry out the damaged area and then came back to tear down more of the wall so that we could better diagnose the leak. At this point Mark let me know that my cost would be around $750 with a little more than that to rebuild totaling upwards of 1500 (my understanding at least). All told the job ended up costing 2500 dollars which was way over the expectation that was set from the start. Once we found the source of leak, it was time to begin reconstruction. I wasn't really happy with the responsiveness of the communication I had with Alan, who managed this side of the business. It generally took longer than I would have liked to get solid replies on calls. emails, and texts. I really wanted it to be done before I went on a vacation, and there was plenty of time to have it completed before that. After being told that would be possible, I had to email to let Alan know it would need to be done after vacation since I never heard back from him after he said that he could very likely get in done within my time table...frustrating When I got back, a fellow named Omar performed the reconstruction. I was told by Mark that it would likely only take Omar one day to finish my job; it took four. Omar did a good job, but he also missed appointments with me and I had to text him to figure out when I could expect him again. When the job was done, Alan asked me if I was happy with the work. I sent him a photo where the paint on the wall looked a little mismatched and got a text back that it would cost me another $250 to finish the wall (which would have put the cost at 2750). This really rubbed me the wrong way I'm not gonna lie. I certainly didn't feel like I made the right decision after everything was done. This was a multi-part project that required gutter repairs and an outer brick wall to be re-mortared, both of which required separate contractors who I was happy to give 5 stars. EDIT 9/27 I'm not sure if it was in response to my review, but I heard from Alan who offered to send Omar out one last time to paint the rest of the mismatched wall for free. Omar came out on time and did a great job so I'm bumping my score up a star. I really appreciate this gesture and it goes a long way to show that CAT wants their customers to be happy. Was very impressed with CAT, even though ultimately we did not end up requiring their services. I called on a cold and rainy Sunday with an emergency roof tarp and board request for a property we have. Not only was Alan friendly and took the time to understand the situation (which was an unusual one, to say the least), but rallied help quickly and had someone meeting my partner in under a hour. To top it off, although they were willing to work in the miserable weather on a logistically complicated situation to protect the damaged area, they pointed out that we might consider the big picture in what we were trying to save. (Was it really worth spending a significant chunk of money trying to protect this particular situation?) He had a good point, and we passed up the service.
