Parking lot in a large L shape so it's easy to park in front of the room. Room itself was clean, comfortable, fully stocked and quiet. Check-in is easy. Got a door code to access which is nice and convenient. Communication was excellent, too. Texted my ETA on arrival and texted when Ieft, which is good because I left before the sun came up. So easy!

The room was first floor near the stairs and smoking area outside, but that was not a problem at all. The room was clean, towels and bedding were clean and crisp. I liked the welcome note on the bed. That was really sweet of them! The room had a microwave and small fridge w/freezer. There was a small office desk with coffee and ice. Tv, a/c, heater unit. Two things to note: 1. If you use 3 ports to charge at the clock on the nightstand, it uses too much power and one of the electronics needs to be unplugged. There are wall outlets, so you'd need to use those. 2. We didn't have a shower curtain when we arrived. I thought it was one of those modern places where it's just open, but we definitely needed a shower curtain. I felt so bad showering and getting everything wet in the bathroom. Housekeeping was kind to answer quickly and gave us towels to clean up. The fan in the bathroom isn't that effective. I suspect they'll have a mold problem in the future. The light switch to the bathroom is on the outside, which I thought was odd. Other than that, we had a pleasant one night stay. We would stay here again!

First let me say that people are very nice to talk to. Having said that I will also say, there is a…read moreton of maintenance needed here. Not just paint and fixing up. But gutters need to be cleared and the property needs to be cleaned up. It is almost in ramshackle condition. The rooms are run down and there is dirt and dust all over. We planned a trip and most of it was nice. Even when we stopped at an old hotspring property in eastern Oregon the people we're working really hard to get it to nice condition. Here, people seem like they're waiting for a miracle. There's a 15 year old boy living here his parents manage the place and there is a ton of leaves and gutters very close to the ground full of leaves. I would make my kid contribute if I was managing this place. So beyond the disrepair and dirt. There's items left like toothpaste from previous people. If I was not so tired from driving and traveling I would demand my money back and keep going. Perplexity Ai told about this place a week ago and then I called to ask about the "aviary" that was advertised that was said to be extensive and really cool. They said it was here. It was a surprise for our little one. I called today to make sure everything was in order on my way down and they still said the aviary was here. The reason we chose the place. We get here and there is no aviary. And the birds were let loose because the fire a couple of years back. Ok that is fine but tell me there's an aviary and birds her two times. Again the people are nice but not cut out to manage a motel. They don't have the energy to do it. Even with a 15 year old in his prime that could help. The place is a dump and one step from being a tear down or sold to someone that has the energy to do something with it. Cash price was cheap for California but still. Not worth it with cleanliness and left over items. Never mind the worn out doors floors and everything else. If I wasn't tired I would leave. Don't stop here unless there's nothing else. And the rooms are delightful (and not under renovation), tastefully decorated, beds are comfy and the rooms are clean. My husband and I stayed there for one week and when the original room we booked was not big enough for us, Julie was most accommodating finding us another room that would suit our needs. The property is lovely and we were fortunate enough to experience a backyard concert by Hattie Craven on our last night there. It was a magical experience to sit outside with music in an enchanted forest as the setting. The owners, Julie & Dan were so helpful with any needs we had and so hospitable...felt like we stepped back in time when customer service really meant taking care of your customers every needs...we couldn't have asked for a more wonderful stay...and to top it off, it was my husband's birthday and when we got back from his birthday dinner, Julie had baked a homemade cake for us...how sweet is that! If we ever return, this is where we will stay. The personable service, friendliness of not only Julie & Dan, but any staff member was such a joy. The owners have always been very accommodating, friendly and are kind. It is a very rustic building with a lot of history behind it. This is a beautiful B&B and we love it and the ambiance here. The food that was prepared for us was outstanding and top notch. Desserts were superb and I am not a dessert person at all. The town of McCloud is also very quaint & rich in history. There is lots to do in the area such as McCloud falls (all three of them) and much more. My wife and I definitely recommend the McCloud River B&B. Go and enjoy as we have done now several times.

In that search I located this lodge. I was kind of leery as I thought it might have been on a main road. Well, it's not! It's on a side street off the main roadway. We booked cabin #7. Cabin #7 faces the roadway where the parking lot is. Believe it or not, we could not hear people in the parking lot. Cabin #7 is two floors. On the first floor there is the only bathroom, a small kitchenette area, and a king bed. Upstairs there are two extremely comfortable queen beds! Literally the most comfortable bed I've slept in! The only draw back was the people sharing the adjacent wall. I believe their stairs are located where ours were in the cabin because we could hear them running up and down it all night. Once they went to bed it wasn't an issue. This Lodge is a self check in and out which was nice! Easy to do! The lodge is close to everything! McCloud Lake was fun for kayaking and McCloud Falls were right up the roadway. Highly recommend breakfast at White Mountain Cafe and dinner at Axe & Rose Brew house. We will be coming back and staying here again.

We stayed in Cabin #5 for 4 days and 3 nights. On our first day, the room was clean for the most…read morepart except for the toilet paper having small brown streaks on it... Chose not to report it to the owner as it was a minor issue. On the second day, we were in the room around 5:30 PM and noticed our door knob moving. We checked the window and noticed it was a shirtless man trying to open our door. We loudly said, "excuse me what are you doing?" and the man walked away. We texted the owner about this incident and asked if they could have this checked out. The owner responded by saying, "It was very likely another guest confused at which cabin was his. The area around the lodge is extremely safe." No indication that they took the time to review camera footage or checked out the area. We later confirmed ourselves that the man was a guest in the room next to us as he was outside next to his room. Later that same day, we were about to leave the room again and noticed that a key was placed on the #5 outside our door. We checked the key and confirmed that it works to unlock and lock our door. We were never informed that another key would be placed outside our door and we do not know how long it was sitting there. Anyone could have saw the key and used it to open our cabin. We immediately notified the owner and their response was that their staff was onsite to service other cabins and may have grabbed an extra key to our cabin. Owner didn't seem to care that an extra key was available to anyone who walked by our cabin. We expressed that we were concerned for our safety, but the owner didn't show that they cared about an extra key just lying around for anyone to grab.
