We approached Ryan to make a walnut trestle table for our dining room, and it is freaking gorgeous. He was professional, collaborative with regards to design, and was able to stick to a reasonable schedule despite the madness of a global pandemic. I can't wait to watch our daughter slowly destroy it over the next 20 years. All hail the Prince of Planing! The sultan of Sanding! The Justiciar or Joinery!

Not only did the build out take forever (7 months), but since picking up my van on my first/second use, I have had roof leaks because they didn't install the "C" gaskets right for the AC unit, I experienced multiple leaks in the pressurized plumbing system (see pictures below) which caused wood damage to the cabinetry due to poor PEX seals, I still have no relief from the misbehaving (and Rydawell recommended) Ecoflow electrical system, I discovered they failed to insulate the sliding door, they actually plumbed the gray water lines into the BOTTOM of the gray water tank using the same penetration point as the drain (this caused water to back up into the shower pan when using the sinks (not to mention it would fail completely in freezing weather) and I discovered that the Rixen heating system was installed against manufacturer recommendations (to name just some of the issues). This has caused me thousands of dollars to get repaired (so far) at another (competent) van builder. While his hourly rate may seem cheaper, it takes him much longer to accomplish work items. As an example, his quote to install a 2nd battery (which he was supposed to have left room for) was twice as long as I was able to get it done elsewhere by professional van builders.

Both doors…read morepresented a bit of a challenge: one we wanted to be larger than the existing opening and the second was an external door leading into our basement. Knowing this was going to be a good size job, we got a few quotes before starting the work. Daniel was one of the quotes. While he was not the cheapest, I was impressed with his knowledge and the thoroughness of the estimate. He also gave us a sheet of references and after calling some we picked him for the job. Right away I knew we made the correct choice. He did an excellent job guiding us through the process of picking out the doors and letting us know the type of hardware. When it was time for the work to start he was very communicative as to what he was going to do and when. He also sent me a few photos of the work in progress during the day so I could see what was going on. It was a nice touch. When the job was complete it came in on budget and was well done.

Well, very small turned out to be not-so-small and we needed a contractor to help. Many of the contractors I contacted never returned my calls or emails. Of those who did, only Daniel asked lots of questions, came out to meet us and see the house, and stayed in contact without aggressively selling to us at every turn. Daniel was a pleasure to work with in every respect. He communicated frequently, was straightforward with us about options and cost and delivered a quick, professional result. He was friendly and respectful even though our little job and house are much smaller than his normal work. We're so thankful that we found a good contractor on our first try and will definitely work with Westbrook Restorations again! (Note: Westbrook Restorations isn't going to be your cheapest option, and it may likely be the most expensive, but it's absolutely worth it).

At least 20+ holes were patched and are now absolutely invisible in our color-drenched home. Overall, communication is excellent- everyone on the team gets cc'ed on emails, project managers visit the site regularly, and the onsite leads are extremely professional and detail-oriented. Arnoldo was our first project painting lead, his skill is unparalleled- watching him paint or come up with a painting solution for a tricky area is astounding. Adrian M was our most recent painting lead, and he is focused, efficient and clearly works very hard (the guy runs fast but is very professional in everything he does) and has a level of skill that is unmatched. Everyone is polite, respectful of our home and friendly. Phinney Ridge is tidy and clean, they take feedback well when things aren't quite perfect, and they are timely and efficient, and they solve problems. The cost and quality are commensurate, their experience is well evidenced and they always have solutions for tricky old house problems, plus a great warranty. I would happily hire again, and we plan to when the time comes to paint the exterior of our house in another year or two.
