The facility seemed well cared for, and the staff was extremely knowledgeable and helpful. My whole…read morehouse was in storage here for 5 months. Everything seemed great until I moved my things into my new home and we discovered Asian stink bugs in many of our boxes. Dead and alive. We flushed them down the toilet to get them out. They let off a stink that tells others to join them! Since we finished unpacking 2 months ago, I have found a lone alive bug somewhere in the house about 1x a week. I think they are hibernating and wake up due to being warm. It's below zero outside, so I just catch it and throw it out into the snow. if I knew about these bugs, I never would've rented there. These bugs give me the creeps.

As far as being a tenant, the gate has been open & has not required a code since last October and in 2 days it will be March! Today I noticed one of the doors to the indoor units would not work properly. The public bathroom (that's not in the office) is not cleaned very often, maybe once a week. Sometimes there will be urine on the seat for days at a time. The lighting inside is on a timer, which is great for energy saving and such, except when I'm in my storage for any extended period of time the lights will shut off after 20 minutes or so if not walking down the hallway. So I walk out & there are only a few safety lights on. It does get a little creepy. I can't wait for the lease to be up so that we can switch storage units.

I have no idea how this location stays in business…read more About a month ago, my boyfriend purchased a storage unit at this location on the website for us to start purchasing furniture and begin moving closer to our new home. He works 60 hours a week, so I am usually the one who has time during the day to take care of things (such as going to get our key to our storage unit during business hours). When I got to this location, I've never been so thankful to own a jeep because the parking lot was not plowed or shoveled. Neither was the facility in front of the units. Not to mention is that dangerous for people who are moving heavy objects, but I'm not sure many people could even access their units because the snow was blocking the doors. I can't imagine any excuse other than the management is just cheap and lazy. The man working the counter gave me an incredibly hard time because I was not listed on the account, and I understood that. He eventually gave me the key and access code after I had my boyfriend confirm who I was. Before I left, I wanted to ask some questions about different sized units (I wasn't sure how much stuff we would want to store before the move) and if we were locked into this contract for a certain period of time. The front desk associate told me "Ma'am I'm not sure why you are trying to change the size because you are not authorized to do that without the account owner here." Sir..... I am not sure why we are having this miscommunication issue, because I'm positive that I never implied or asked to make changes. I was kind of shocked that he was acting so off-putting to a customer that just got there but he made it clear not to ask him questions anymore. After moving into my unit, I stopped in the office to let him know there's a lot of ice and it's dangerous to walk out there. He said "There's nothing I can do about that." I left thinking to myself there's at LEAST one thing that the company could do, which would be to put salt out, but I guess he's just not willing to do it. None of this bothered me enough to dwell on until I came back tonight to move some more furniture in. I have been moving furniture, driving back and forth between three different places for almost 6 hours before I got to my unit. I'm exhausted, my phone is dead because the charger didn't work inside the UHaul, and I just wanted to go home. When I got to Public storage, I couldn't open the gate because the code was saved on my phone. I walk in to the office and see the same guy from last time so I hoped this would go smoothly and I was wrong :) This same man who just met me a month early told me we've never met before, and I'm not on this account so I cannot access it. He said he'll call the account owner. My boyfriend confirms that I can access the unit, and while they are on the phone he wants to add me to the account. The man tells him "you have to do that in person or on the website." As I leave I ask if they could shovel some of this snow so it's easier to get to the units, he said "you can shovel it." Thanks! Great guy! This whole experience at this location has been the most ridiculous contemplation of minuscule problems that could so readily be solved with improvement in customer service skills and just a little bit of empathy. I work in customer service myself, and I know it sucks, but that man who happens to be a manager has absolutely no people skills whatsoever. I've never written such a long review for a business, and a bad review at that, but it was needed today. Buyers beware, this location is not worth your money. My boyfriend will be going Thursday to cancel our contract. Thank you to the manager Jack for making it obvious that you can be a "manager", do the bare minimum, be rude to customers, and still get paid. He's living the dream. I'll post pictures of the snow and ice situation after we've cancelled.
