Edit: I find it highly suspicious that this business had no positive reviews until I made my review. Not one! Conveniently, all appeared within one hour of each other. Right around the exact same time Brad replied to my review. It's amazing how not one customer was satisfied enough to leave a positive review beforehand. I hope that tells you all you need to know about this business. Please also note, I done take posting a negative review lightly. I sincerely hope it serves as a warning to others.
Well, I thought I was done complaining about this company, but turns out they are still costing us money! They Five years later, we are still dealing with the consequences of hiring Castle. If you are considering this company, I hope our experience saves you from making the same mistake. Brad approached my husband after a storm, just as we were preparing to leave for a funeral. He knew where we were going and continued trying to sell us a roof anyway. That complete failure to read the room should have been our first warning. We trusted him despite it. I regret not doing more research, and I hope someone reading this makes a more informed decision than we did. On installation day, the sky looked threatening, but we trusted the professionals to know what they were doing. With our roof off, a downpour hit. Water poured into our home. Our smoke alarms went off, and my daughter, who was only one at the time, screamed in terror. I struggled to communicate with the crew because of a language barrier, and I saw no urgency to get tarps in place. I understand that workers need to stay safe during a storm. But once it calmed down and I asked what was being done, one worker responded, "Just little water, yes?" I had to make it very clear that this was far more than a little water. Brad assured us everything would be taken care of. In our experience, his promises to "make it right" sounded much better than what followed. Our family of five had to leave our home, board our dog, and stay in two different hotels while water remediation took place. We drove between Rockford, Roscoe, and Winnebago to get to work and take our children where they needed to be. Meanwhile, my dad was dying of cancer and going in and out of hospitals. This was an exhausting disruption during an already painful time. To be clear: Castle did not simply "put us up in a nice hotel." Our insurance covered the hotel stays and pursued reimbursement from his. We moved from the original Home2 because it could not accommodate the full length of our stay. Our options for a family of five were limited. We had no kitchen, yet even meals and hotel parking became points of contention. Brad treated the expenses as though we were enjoying a vacation. We were displaced from our home because water had poured through our exposed roof. Our electric bill also skyrocketed because remediation fans ran around the clock. Despite his assurances that he would take care of everything, we were left arguing over costs insurance did not cover. After we raised the possibility of legal action, he paid half of those additional expenses. That fell far short of the responsibility and care we had been promised. Now, five years later, a spot appeared on our closet ceiling and became more noticeable after recent rain. We had another roofer inspect it and were told Castle had failed to install the appropriate gasket around a roof pipe, allowing water to leak into the attic above our closet. Not that it had deteriorated. The gasket was not present. The problem was hidden until the ceiling showed damage. We are now dealing with mold and drywall that needs replacing. We are seeking yet another roofer's opinion to verify the findings of the first, and determining whether to pursue this in small claims court. What stands out most is the gap between Brad's reassuring words and our actual experience. We needed competent workmanship, accountability, and basic empathy. Instead, we got water damage, displacement, arguments over expenses, and now another problem that a roofer has attributed to the installation. If Brad responds with another polished promise about customer service, I hope he addresses the specifics of what happened--and whether he will accept responsibility for this latest issue. His workmanship has been the "gift" that keeps on giving, and we are still paying the price. Steer clear.y read more
